  • Patent number: 8639741
Abstract: In the method of the invention, requests received by a request distributor are distributed to server computers. The request distributor uses distribution information for selecting, as a destination for the requests, a server computer. A first request relating to a delivery of a service is received by the request distributor and sent to one server computer. The server computer then receives the first request. Finally, it is determined whether a further request relating to the delivery of the service is expected to be received by the request distributor, and, if so, distribution information is made available to the request distributor.

  • Patent number: 8639252
Abstract: A method in a first base station for supporting DTX is provided. The first base station serves a first cell being in an active mode. The first base station communicates with a user equipment within the first cell. The first base station is comprised in a radio communications system further comprising the user equipment and a second base station serving a second cell being in a non observable mode. The first base station sends (602) to the second base station, a request to switch the second cell state from a non observable mode to an observable mode. It further sends (603) to the user equipment or to the second base station, a request to perform signalling between the user equipment and the second base station for quality measurements. The first base station then obtains (604) information that handover is feasible, based on quality measurement of the performed signalling.

  • Patent number: 8638715
Abstract: In a mobile communication system, receiving changed information for a service of interest in a next modification period comprises determining in a current modification period whether an alarm bit whose assertion indicates upcoming changed information is unambiguously associated with the service of interest or whether the alarm bit is associated with the service of interest and one or more services that are not of interest. Mappings of all services to alarm bits are analyzed in the present and possibly in one or more upcoming frames during the current modification period and applied in embodiments to reduce the ambiguity and therefore the risk of false indications of changed data for the service of interest.

  • Patent number: 8638868
Abstract: Inter-cell interference coordination across layers of a communication network can be implemented by configuring a cell to transmit one or more downlink transmission resources having variably reduced transmission activity. A transmitting node, such as a macro cell, can transmit transmission resources, such as resource elements, resource blocks, subframes, and frames, having reduced transmission activity at varying predictable times according to a selected cell activity pattern. A receiving node, such as a user equipment, can decide to make received signal measurements according to the cell activity pattern.

  • Patent number: 8636013
Abstract: An instrument for applying a composition to hair or nails includes a core made as a single piece that extends longitudinally along a mean longitudinal axis. The instrument includes a plurality of applicator projections for applying the composition to hair or nails. The applicator projections are carried by the core and are spread out helically along the core. The helical spreading of the projections is obtained by twisting the core. The projections are disposed on the core, prior to twisting the core, along at least three distinct radial directions about the mean longitudinal axis. The instrument further includes a twister element to which the core is attached such that the twisted nature of the core is imparted by the twister element.

  • Patent number: 8638052
Abstract: A method of controlling an electric synchronous machine having a stator and a moving part includes operating the machine with a deceleration moment so that a speed of the moving part of the machine is reducing, monitoring the movement of the moving part of the machine, and, upon detection of a direction reversal or a speed of the moving part of approximately zero, transitioning to a holding mode by impressing at least one current pattern of string currents in the stator of the machine. The method also includes maintaining the current pattern until a stable equilibrium of moments between the external moment and a braking moment of the machine is established.

  • Publication number: 20140025375
Abstract: An object of embodiments of the present invention is to provide an improved gain-shape VQ. This is achieved by determining a number of bits to be allocated to a gain adjustment- and shape-quantizer for a plurality of combinations of a current bit rate and a first signal property. The determined allocated number of bits to the gain adjustment- and shape quantizer should provide a better result for the given bitrate and signal property than using a single fixed allocation scheme. That can be achieved by deriving the bit allocation by using an average of optimal bit allocations for a training data set. Thus by pre-calculating a number of bits to the gain adjustment and the shape quantizers for a plurality of combinations of the bit rate and a first signal property and creating a table indicating the number of bits to be allocated to the gain adjustment- and the shape-quantizers for a plurality of combinations of the bit rate and a first signal property.

  • Publication number: 20140025609
Abstract: A method and arrangement for creation of a customized recommendation of items in a user device (200) in communication with a recommendation system (202). The recommendation system obtains (2:2a) ratings of items for a public recommendation based on public user data (202a) and obtains (2:2b) attribute-related weight information for said items with item-specific weight values for a plurality of attributes pertaining to user characteristics. The ratings of items in the public recommendation and the weight information are sent (2:3) to the user device which then modifies (2:4, 2:4a) the public recommendation into a customized recommendation by selecting attributes valid for a current user based on said private user data, and applying the weight values of the selected attributes only to the received ratings of items. The non-valid attributes are thus disregarded. Thereby, new item ratings are obtained which have been adapted to the characteristics of this particular user.
