Abstract: A method and arrangement is proposed for adaptively generating a target noise margin for use on a DSL transmission line. The method includes determining a first quantity representing a current noise power on the line using line parameter data relating to the transmission performance of the line, determining a second quantity representing a worst-case noise power on said line using previously obtained values of the line parameter data, calculating the difference between the first and second quantities to generate a difference value, setting a target noise margin as at least equal to said difference value, and providing the target noise margin for use on the line upon initialisation of the line. In a preferred embodiment, the line parameter data is the bit loading on the line and the first and second quantities are values of the average signal-to-noise ratio on the line derived from the bit loading data.

Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions of rosmarinic acid or its derivatives and to the use of a hydrolytic enzyme or of microorganism containing or producing hydrolytic enzymes in these compositions. The invention also pertains to methods for improving the biological effects of the rosemary extracts and for administering such compositions to a human or animal subject for improving the skin, coat, hair or health of the subject.

Abstract: The deposition method comprises providing a substrate with a first mono-crystalline zone made of a semiconductor material and a second zone made of an insulating material. During a passivation step, a passivation atmosphere is applied on the substrate so as to cover the first zone with doping impurities. During a deposition step, gaseous silicon and/or germanium precursors are introduced and a doped semiconductor film is formed. The semiconductor film is mono-crystalline over the first zone and has a different texture over the second zone. During an etching step, a chloride gaseous precursor is applied on the substrate so as to remove the semiconductor layer over the second zone.

Abstract: The present invention relates to polysaccharides selected from sulphated arabinogalactans, apiogalacturonans and sulphated heteroglycans intended to be used as a drug for the preventive or curative treatment of an influenza virus, as well as to the pharmaceutical compositions including, in particular in combination with at least one pharmaceutically acceptable carrier: either an extract of Codium fragile, including sulphated arabinogalactans, or an extract of Zostera marina or Lemna minor, including apiogalacturonans, or an extract of Caulerpa racemosa, including sulphated heteroglycans.

Abstract: It is presented a method for adjusting handover parameters of a processed base station in relation to neighbouring base stations, neighbouring the processed base station. The method being executed in a handover parameter determiner and comprises: obtaining (20) a list of neighbouring base stations of the mobile communication network; determining (22), for each of the neighbouring base stations in the list, a capability to send handover issue report messages; and adjusting (24) the handover parameters based on the determined capabilities for each of the neighbouring base stations in the list.

Abstract: A method in a user equipment (110) and a user equipment (110) for setting a timeout value, indicative of a duration during which a value related to radio transmissions is to be reused by the user equipment, are provided. The user equipment obtains a timeout value, which is based on mobility information indicating mobility of the user equipment. Then, the user equipment sets the timeout value. Furthermore, a method in a radio network node (120) and a radio network node (120) for setting a timeout value, indicative of a duration during which a value related to radio transmissions is to be reused by the radio network node, are provided. The radio network node obtains a timeout value, which is based on mobility information indicating mobility of the user equipment. Then, the radio network node sets the timeout value for the user equipment.

Abstract: Generating updated coefficients for an adaptive equaliser involves generating phase tracking information using asynchronous detection strategy (ADS) based on resolved data, and equalised signals, and estimating a phase corrected error based on the equalised signals, the phase tracking information and the resolved data. An inhibit signal is generated to inhibit updating of the equalisation coefficients, the inhibit signal representing a likelihood of the phase corrected error being accurate, determined according to the phase corrected error, and the equalised signals. The equalisation coefficients for the equaliser are adapted based on the received signals, and on the phase corrected error, and the adapting is inhibited according to the inhibit signal. Compared to conventional ADS, the new combination with the inhibit signal can enable improved convergence of coefficient adaptation. This is particularly useful for coherent receivers for optical systems.

Abstract: A system and method of implementing an on-demand change of the RF power class of multi-carrier power amplifiers at a base station radio with minimal disruption of user service is disclosed. The power amplifiers providing signal diversity at said cell site and being able to operate at various RF power class levels. A first multi-carrier power amplifier with multiple RF Power Classes provides a main RF beam transmission at one sector of said cell site. A second multi-carrier power amplifier with multiple RF Power Classes provides RF beam transmission diversity to the main RF beam transmission. A switch operates to disable either the first or second multi-carrier power amplifier when an RF Power class change is required.

Abstract: A seating unit that includes a seat-lift assembly adapted to move the seating unit between a closed and a seat-lift position is provided. The seat-lift assembly includes a drive linkage mechanism, and a lift linkage mechanism. The seat-lift assembly is attached to a seat linkage mechanism that includes a seat-mounting plate, a base plate coupled and a linear actuator for automating adjustment of the linkage mechanism. Frequency-domain data from a sensor configured to sense a region is accessed, the frequency-domain data is transformed to generate a time-domain representation of the region, a first model is determined based on the accessed frequency-domain data, a second model is determined based on the generated time-domain representation, the second model being associated with a particular region within the sensed region, and a background model that represents a background of the region is determined based on the first model and the second model.

Abstract: The present invention provides a device which is adapted to press together the septum primum and the septum secundum between the atrial chambers to close any tunnel in the septum. The device in its preferred form has two clamping members, one on each side of the septum and a central connector which connects the two clamping members and passes through the tunnel. The device is configured to conform to the anatomy such that the tunnel is not substantially deformed by the device. The central connector, in its preferred form has two wires that are spaced apart so that the wires are proximate the lateral sides of the tunnel. The spacing allows the device to be centered at an appropriate location.

Abstract: A method of providing for the transfer of an IP flow when a client is handed over from a first to a second radio layer node of a cellular communications network. The method comprises establishing said IP flow between a client and an application of a local service network within or connected to said first radio layer node, and sending said IP flow over a radio access bearer extending between the client and the first radio layer node, and maintaining within a mobility database a mapping between an identifier of the client, an IP address of said application, and an IP address of said local service network. Prior to or upon handover of the client from said first radio layer node to the second radio layer node, a request including the client identifier is sent from said second to said first radio layer node or to another node if the central mobility database is maintained in that other node.

The second arm includes an electrical load to be powered. A second variable-capacitance capacitor is series-connected with the electrical load. A control circuit is configured to modify respective capacitance values of the first and second capacitor systems so as to modify the converter's mechanical resonance frequency.

Abstract: An optical transmission network comprises nodes which support a plurality of different wavelength channels and support at least a first bitrate traffic type and the second bitrate traffic type on respective wavelength channels. A connection of the second bitrate traffic type is established on an available wavelength, if the wavelength offers an acceptable quality of transmission using a first quality of transmission calculation. Alternatively, a connection of the second bitrate traffic type is established on a wavelength which is spaced, by a guard band, from wavelengths used for connections of the first bitrate traffic type, if the wavelength offers an acceptable quality of transmission using a second quality of transmission calculation. The second quality of transmission calculation is less stringent than the first quality of transmission calculation, and can ignore the effects of interference due to cross-phase modulation.
