  • Patent number: 8175278
Abstract: The present invention involves establishing a top-level key and optionally also a verification tag. The top-level key is used as the MDP key for encrypting a broadcast medium. Only the part of the key message that contains the encrypted top-level key is authenticated, e.g. using a signature or a Message Access Code (MAC). Any known group-key distribution protocol can be used that is based on the creation of a hierarchy of keys. Examples of such methods are the LKH and SD methods. The group-key distribution protocol output key H, traditionally used as the MDP key, or a derivative thereof is used to encrypt the top-level MDP-key. The invention, further, includes optimization of a group-key message by eliminating unnecessary message components relative a specified group or sub-group of users. The optimization can be made in dependence of contextual data such as user profile, network status, or operator policies.

  • Patent number: 8174698
Abstract: A method for fabricating a tunable Fabry-Perot cavity comprises etching a substrate to form two reflectors separated by an air gap and an electrostatic mechanism. One of the two reflectors is mobile and connected to the electrostatic mechanism. Therefore, operation of the electrostatic mechanism moves the mobile reflector to change the thickness of the air gap and thereby tune the Fabry-Perot cavity. A tunable Fabry-Perot cavity fabricated with the above method comprises: a substrate; two reflectors formed in the substrate and separated by an air gap having a thickness, wherein one of the two reflectors is mobile; and an electrostatic mechanism formed in the substrate and connected to the mobile reflector. The mobile reflector connected to the electrostatic mechanism is moved upon operation of the electrostatic mechanism to change the thickness of the air gap and thereby tune the Fabry-Perot cavity.

  • Publication number: 20120108252
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and devices for mobility management UE in a cellular communications system. A user equipment maintains (21) at least two sets of mobility trigger parameters. Each set of mobility trigger parameters corresponds to a predetermined user equipment speed range. The user equipment determines (22) a speed range that the speed of the user equipment falls into and selects (23), based on the determined speed range, at least one set of mobility trigger parameters to be used for performing mobility-based decisions. If the user equipment is in connected mode a network base station may select a set of mobility trigger parameters to be used for performing handover decisions based on a determined speed range of the user equipment. Advantages are that ping-pong mobility decisions may be avoided and it is sufficient to determine a range for the UE speed, which is less complicated than determining an accurate speed of the UE particularly in idle mode.

Abstract: In the field of dual-mode medical probes, a simple device perfectly meets the double need for dual-modality and sterilization, and provides a sterile, disposable, or sterilizable protective membrane, also called a “glove” or “sock”, equipped with optical fibres. This protective membrane can be slipped onto an ultrasound probe. It therefore ensures both the dual-mode functionality and perfect sterilization of the probe, this being the desired effect. The protective membrane is easy to produce and easy to use.

  • Publication number: 20120106353
Abstract: A method of providing packet data service is based on selectively switching packet data traffic for a mobile station operating in a boundary region between two service areas from a shared packet data channel to a dedicated packet data channel, or vice versa. For example, a source base station can be configured to switch packet data traffic for a mobile station from a shared packet data channel to a dedicated packet data channel as it approaches a shared channel service boundary. Additionally, the source base station can be configured to change the packet data service to the mobile station from a dedicated packet data channel to a shared packet data channel, such as when the mobile station moves back into the source base station's service area.

  • Publication number: 20120104720
Abstract: An apparatus for assisting a person get into and exit an interior of a truck trailer. The apparatus comprises multiple parts, including a stationary step having a U-shape and a handle movable between an upright and stowed position. In its stowed position, the handle does not extend beyond the rear of the trailer, enabling the trailer to back up to a loading dock without interference from the handle. Two latching mechanisms assist in locking the handle in its upright and stowed positions. In its upright position, the handle enables a person standing on the step to more easily enter and exit the interior of the trailer.

  • Publication number: 20120106324
Abstract: In a mobile network with a plurality of access networks (210, 220), a control node (110) which is controlling access of a user equipment (300) to that one of the access networks (210, 220) which is currently used by the user equipment (300) determines an access capability of the user equipment (300) in said access network (210, 220), e.g. support of voice communication over packet switched access. The control node (110) provides an indication of the determined access capability to a subscriber database (150) associated with the user equipment (300). The indication may then be retrieved from the subscriber database (150) and be used to control termination of a connection to the user equipment (300).

  • Publication number: 20120106405
Abstract: A method, and an apparatus, for self-interference suppression in a relay (300) for wireless communication, wherein the relay (300) is arranged for receiving a signal r(n) transmitted from a transmitter (301), and for transmitting a self-interference suppressed transmit signal xr(n) to a receiver (305). The self-interference suppressed transmit signal xr(n) is achieved by determining (402) a receive suppression filter matrix Wr (302), determining a relay amplification matrix G (303), and determining (403) a transmit suppression filter matrix Wt (304), and then applying the suppression filters and the amplification matrix to the received signal r(n).

  • Publication number: 20120106530
Abstract: A radio receiver receives multiple radio frequency (RF) carriers where each RF carrier corresponds to a logical entity or object used in multi-carrier communications called a cell. A receiving radio node receives signals on serving cells, including a serving cell on a primary carrier and a serving cell on a secondary carrier, and on neighboring cells, including a neighboring cell on the primary carrier and a neighboring cell on the secondary carrier. Initially, a power delay profile is calculated for each of the serving cells and the neighboring cells. An association is determined between at least one cell on the primary carrier and at least one cell on the secondary carrier based on the calculated power delay profiles. The association is then later used in performing interference cancellation in the radio node.

  • Publication number: 20120109768
Abstract: A method and arrangement for enabling a purchase of a media object for a user operating a user terminal (200). The media object is owned by a media provider (204) and is presented to the user by a media sender (202) controlled by a media sending party. The user terminal obtains (2:2) from the media sender a media ID that identifies the media object and a sender ID that identifies the media sender. When receiving (2:3) an input command from the user, the terminal makes (2:4) a purchase request referring to the media ID and sender ID, which may be sent to the user's home network operator (206) or to the media provider or to a separate purchase handler. The media provider then delivers (2:7) the media object to the user, the user is charged (2:10) for the media purchase, the media provider receives payment for the purchase, and the media sending party receives compensation (2:9) for the user's purchase of the media object.

  • Publication number: 20120110012
Abstract: A passive network measurement based solution for estimating user-perceived TCP throughput in a mobile PS network is provided. Instead of direct detection of TCP bulk data periods and server side limitations, the diversity of TCP connection end-points on the Internet side is exploited. The TCP throughput at an interface of the mobile network from/to each server on the Internet side during a file/object transfer of bulk date periods is monitored and measured and the servers are ranked according to their throughput statistics. The top performing servers are grouped into classes by statistical algorithms. The throughput samples from the users towards the servers belonging to the top group of highest average throughput are averaged to obtain a proper estimation for the user-perceived TCP throughput.
