Abstract: Method and system for 3-D imaging of subterranean geologic structures based on seismic data interpretations involves correcting mis-ties that arise as a result of orthogonal polylines failing to intersect due to inconsistencies in seismic interpretations. In some embodiments, the mis-ties may be corrected by adding a data point from one polyline at or near the mis-tie to the other polyline, and vice versa for the other polyline. The two data points are then adjusted so they coincide or merge. The merged data point is then used as intersection points for the polylines and associated with one another such that a change made to one intersection point is automatically made to the other intersection point. In some embodiments, one or more neighboring data points on each polyline are adjusted to smooth out the polyline at the point of the corrected mis-tie.

Abstract: A method for determining active constraint equations in a network of wells and surface facilities includes constructing at least one constraint equation for a connection in the network. Each constraint equation includes a respective slack variable and a respective slack variable multiplier. The method further includes constructing a base equation for the connection. The base equation includes the respective slack variable and another respective slack variable multiplier. The method further includes introducing a pseudo slack variable for another connection in the network such that a Schur complement, of a matrix of constraint and base equations dependent only on slack variable multipliers, is sparse. The method further includes solving for each respective slack variable using the Shur complement matrix. The method further includes adjusting a variable parameter of the network using results from solving for each respective slack variable.

Abstract: A method of managing a network of wells and surface facilities includes partitioning the network to obtain a pipe sub-network and two or more well sub-networks, and constructing an associated set of equations that represent a steady-state fluid flow in the sub-network. The method further includes setting boundary conditions for each well sub-network, and determining a steady-state flow solution for each well sub-network. The method further includes establishing boundary conditions for the pipe sub-network, and finding a steady-state flow solution for the pipe sub-network. If the solution does not match the estimated pressure, the method further includes adjusting the estimated pressure, repeating said setting, determining, establishing, finding, and adjusting operations until the calculated and estimated pressures converge, and analyzing flow rates of the steady-state flow solutions to evaluate suitability of a modification to the network.
Abstract: A computer implemented method can include selecting a first flow rate model for a well, providing reservoir data to the first flow rate model, providing production history data to the first flow rate model, computing a solution to the first flow rate model and comparing the solution to production history data. A method can include implementing dual, triple or quad porosity models of a reservoir and history matching a model against actual well production data. A method can include comparing one or more models and determining whether a parameter has a unique solution. A system can include a computer readable medium having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform one or more methods.

Abstract: Systems and methods facilitate and automate well abandonment procedures. In an embodiment, well field data for a plurality of wells is categorized into well types. An inspection set of wells, including wells of each type, is determined from the entire plurality of wells. Inspection data is collected for each well type, including environmental, regulatory, and well condition data. The inspection data is extrapolated onto wells with similar types for the entire filed and analyzed. The analysis may include determining an optimal sequence of well abandonment activities, and an estimate of costs for abandoning each well, all wells of each type, and the entire well field. In an embodiment, a risk assessment analysis is performed and may include an analysis of factors that may change the cost of abandoning the well field or a sequence of well abandonment activities.

Abstract: A consecutive set of data points, P1, P2, P3, and P4, is selected. A first line is created through P1 and P3. A first tangent vector originating at P2, parallel to the first line, is created. A second line through P2 and P4 is created. A second tangent vector through P3 is created. The second tangent vector is parallel to the second line. A baseline through P2 and P3 is created. A Bezier curve between P2 and P3 is created, wherein the Bezier curve has a degree. The degree of the Bezier curve is determined based on a comparison of the first tangent vector, the second tangent vector, and the baseline.
