Abstract: A reservoir simulator system models the effect of proppant damage on reservoir production through calculation of a fracture closure stress versus fracture permeability relationship, which is mathematically transformed into a pore pressure versus fracture permeability relationship. Based upon the pore pressure relationship, the system models reservoir production while taking into account the permeability reduction in the fractures brought about due to proppant damage.

Abstract: Various embodiments include apparatus and methods to provide an estimation of casing wear. One method determines values of casing and drill string variables and constants. These constants and variables are used to dynamically generate an estimate of casing wear, based on a stress theory. The drilling operation can be halted when the estimate of casing wear reaches a predetermined value.
Abstract: The disclosure describes a method and apparatus for performing automated horizon picking on a based volume and snapping auto-picked horizons to other seismic volumes in 4D and multi-azimuth seismic interpretation workflow. Changes made to an initial interpretation may be automatically updated on the other seismic volumes. The automated horizon auto-picking can be batched to setup, run, and monitor auto-picked horizons on a large number of seismic volumes without requiring manual updating of interpretations on each individual volume.

For example, one disclosed embodiment includes a system that includes at least one processor and at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor and storing instructions that when executed by the at least one processor performs operations for receiving historical data associated with previously drilled wells; in response to a determination that the historical data associated with previously drilled well is relevant to the well, generating a first set of casing designs using a probabilistic approach and generating a second set of casing designs using a combination approach that combines the probabilistic approach with a deterministic approach; and selecting a suitable casing design from a resulting set of casing designs.
Abstract: System and method for implementing a reservoir simulation system are described. One embodiment is a computer-implemented method of coarsening a fine grid including a plurality of fine gridblocks, the fine grid representing a geological model having at least one discontinuity therein. The method comprises grouping a number of fine gridblocks together to form coarse gridblocks, wherein at least one of the coarse gridblocks is a nonstandard-shaped gridblock; and calculating a transmissibility for each pair of adjacent coarse gridblocks in which at least one gridblock of the coarse gridblock pair is a nonstandard-shaped gridblock. The calculating comprises calculating a transmissibility for each pair of adjacent fine gridblocks; mapping each of the fine gridblock pairs to a coarse gridblock pair; and for each gridblock pair, summing the transmissiblities of the fine gridblock pairs mapped thereto.
Abstract: Target objects having undulating surfaces are simulated using different triangle mesh sizes to improve processing performance. To perform the simulation, a target object is generated using a triangle mesh formed by a plurality of triangles. The target object has an X, Y, and Z direction, wherein the Z direction is perpendicular to an X-Y plane of the target object. The undulating surface on the target object is generated using a Z value in the Z direction.
