Abstract: An ergonomic mouse has a sliding cap matching the curvature of a normal human palm. The sliding cap may be slid on the top of a hollow body to reach a desired operation position, then fine-tuned and anchored. Thus when the mouse is moved during operation, it can absorb reaction forces to avoid hurting the user's wrist and better meet ergonomic requirements.
Abstract: A fixing device for an extension card having a bracket with a bent portion has a casing and a metal pressing member. The casing has a support portion. The metal pressing member has a longitudinal bottom plate, a pivotal structure, and a resilient latching structure. The pivotal structure is pivotally connected to the casing. The bent portion of the bracket of the extension card is placed on the support portion of the casing. The longitudinal bottom plate of the metal pressing member presses on the bent portion. The resilient latching structure of the metal pressing member detachably latches onto the casing. As a result, the extension card is capable of being retained in or dismounted from the casing easily and quickly.
Abstract: A multi-lamp driving system includes a driving apparatus and a current balancer having detection nodes. The protection apparatus includes at least a detection unit and a determining unit. The detection unit includes first impedance devices and a second impedance device. A first end of each first impedance device is coupled with the corresponding detection node. The second impedance device is coupled with a second end of each first impedance device. The cross-voltage between a first end and a second end of the second impedance device is relative to the sum of the voltage level of the detection nodes coupled with the first impedance devices. The determining unit coupled with the second impedance device of the detection unit outputs a protection signal to disable the driving apparatus according to the cross-voltage between the first and second ends of the second impedance device when at least one of the lamps malfunctions.
Abstract: A medium category determination method for a multi-function peripheral, which uses an algorithm to enhance the differences in the luminance values of three primary color and the corresponding standard deviations. The luminance values color and the corresponding standard deviations become precise bases for category determination of unknown media. Caused by the coarseness and the colors on the surfaces of different media, these differences under visible light are easily collected by scanning modules. The method scans the unknown medium to obtain the luminance values of three primary colors, calculates the corresponding standard deviations of all luminance values of the unknown medium, enhances the differences among the luminance values and standard deviations among the unknown medium and multiple known media by an algorithm, and finally determines the category of the unknown medium as the category of one known medium.
Abstract: A driving device is provided for a cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) circuit, comprising a voltage generator outputting a driving voltage and a controller coupled thereto. The controller directs the voltage generator to output a first voltage exceeding a working voltage of the CCFL to initialize the CCFL. When brightness of the cold cathode lamp tube exceeds a working brightness of the CCFL, the controller directs the voltage generator to decrease the driving voltage gradually so that the brightness of the CCFL equals the working brightness. The controller stops decreasing the driving voltage when the driving voltage equals the working voltage.
Abstract: An image processing device is provided. The image processing device includes an image capturing device, a memory device and a microprocessor. The image capturing device captures a first image having plural first pixels. The memory device has a memory space with a size greater than a size of the first image and stores the first image therein. The microprocessor transforms a format of the first image stored in the memory device. The memory device stores the plural first pixels via a first sequence, and the microprocessor transforms the plural first pixels via a second sequence opposite to the first sequence.
Abstract: An AC power supply testing method upon booting a main board is provided. The testing method is applied to a main board, a microprocessor is in connection with the main board, and a relay is connected with the microprocessor, an AC power supply and a system power supply of the main board. The testing method includes steps of (1) configuring a system power on/off time of the microprocessor; (2) counting down the system power on/off time; (3) determining the current state of the relay; (4) shutting off the relay and resuming executing step (1) if the current state is ON; and (5) executing a power supply testing upon booting if the current state is OFF.

Abstract: A conductive elastic component for electrically connecting an electronic device with a cradle includes a plurality of fingers, a first metallic plate connecting first ends of the plurality of fingers, and a second metallic plate connecting second ends of the plurality of fingers. Each finger has a first end for being mechanically connected to the cradle, a first segment spanning between the first end and a first point, and a second segment spanning between the first point and a second end. The second segment of each finger has a curved contact region for contacting the input node of the electronic device. An angle between a line connecting the first point and the first end and a line connecting the first point and the second end is an acute angle. In addition, the centerline along the lengths of the first and second segments resides in a same plane.
Abstract: An optical mouse has a housing, a printed circuit board, a light source unit, a photodetector unit, a light-guiding unit and a lens unit. The light source unit has different colors of image light sources and is disposed on the printed circuit board. The light-guiding unit is arranged in the housing and adjacent to the light source unit for guiding a non-complementary color light relative to a reflection surface from one of the image light sources to the reflection surface. The lens unit is arranged in the housing and positioned below the photodetector unit for converging a reflected light reflected by the reflection surface into the photodetector unit. Furthermore, the optical mouse can be operated on various colors of reflection surfaces, and still retains better sensitivity.
Abstract: A driving device for a CCFL circuit comprising at least one CCFL is provided. The driving device comprising at least one heating device controlling the temperature of the at least one CCFL, a power supply outputting a first voltage, and a switching device having a first input terminal receiving the first voltage and a first and second output terminal; wherein the first output terminal is coupled to the CCFL circuit outputting a second voltage when the first voltage is higher than a first level, and the second output terminal is coupled to the at least one heating device outputting a third voltage when the first voltage is lower than the first level. The driving device further comprises a controller controlling the power supply to output the first voltage higher than the first level to lighting up the at least one CCFL, and lower than the first level to control the temperature of the at least one CCFL.
Abstract: A track ball structure for controlling movements of a cursor comprises a body, a capacity in the body, a track ball housed in the capacity having a portion exposed outside the capacity for controlling the movements of the cursor, and a plurality of sensors located in the capacity surrounding the track ball for detecting pressure directions. When the track ball is rollable continuously in a selected direction to compress the sensors so that the cursor is moved continuously in the selected direction. Thus, the track ball structure uses less part of a hand to control the track ball simply, conforms to human engineering, and moves the cursor to an objective position in a short time.
Abstract: A ribbon cassette structure is provided. The provided ribbon cassette structure includes a cartridge having at least a rotating structure. The rotating structure includes a first actuating element, a first connecting element, a second actuating element and a support shaft. The first connecting element is located between the first actuating element and the second actuating element, and the second actuating element is located between the first actuating element and the support shaft.
Abstract: A torque regulating assembly includes a first tubular shell having at least one groove disposed along the longitudinal axis of the first tubular shell and a second tubular shell having at least one aperture, wherein the first tubular shell is screwed into the second tubular shell with threads, making the aperture corresponding to the groove. A torque regulating ring having at least one screw hole is put around the second tubular shell. A screwing element is screwed into the screw hole, and the front tip of the screwing element passes through the aperture and moves toward the groove, so that a position of the second tubular shell relative to the first tubular shell is fixed. Then a maximum torque value transmitted by a torque transmitting mechanism disposed inside the first tubular shell and the second tubular shell is regulated.
Abstract: A pointing method for a mobile communication device having a screen and a plurality of keys with respective key values for moving an object to a designated area of the screen is provided. The pointing method includes steps of (A) dividing the screen into a number of screen areas in accord with a number of the keys; (B) providing a coordinate of a specific point in each of the screen areas; (C) associating each of the key values with the respective coordinate; (D) sending a moving command through one of the plurality of keys; and (E) moving the object to the respective coordinate in response to the moving command.
