  • Patent number: 10982129
Abstract: A converter-dissolver composition in an aqueous solution of carbonate or bicarbonate, chelating agents, hydroxide base, and surfactant wetting agent. A mixture of the chelating agents and carbonate or bicarbonate is diluted with deionized water. The mixture reacts for five minutes. The hydroxide base is added to the mixture to form an in-situ reaction with the carbonate or bicarbonate and reacted for another five minutes. The solution pH is adjusted with the chelating agent. The surfactant wetting agent is added. The aqueous solution is heated to 70-230° C. and applied to a surface of oil or gas well and pipeline equipment with metal sulfate scales in a ratio of 3.78 liters of the aqueous solution per 0.45 kilograms of the metal sulfate scales. The aqueous solution reacts for 0.25-1.5 hours to dissolve the metal sulfate scales. The aqueous solution and dissolved metal sulfate scales are flushed from the surface.

  • Patent number: 10982654
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel, floating, offshore wind turbine (FOWT) structure, referred to as a yawing buoy mast (YBM) structure. The YBM platform vertically combines a submerged spar buoy with outrigger legs and a mast on which a wind turbine nacelle is mounted. Compared to a conventional spar buoy wind turbine, weight is significantly reduced by optimizing how loads are borne and reacted by the floating structure. The mass of the YBM platform is reduced relative to the energy captured by the turbine resulting in a reduction in the cost of energy (COE). Platform load dynamics are coupled with the dynamics of the wind turbine by integration of the YBM platform and turbine controllers.

  • Patent number: 10984513
Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and techniques directed to producing an all-in-focus image with a camera of a mobile device, in particular, cameras with shallow depth-of-field. User equipment includes a sensor for determining distance to an object in a camera's field-of-view. Based on a depth map of the field-of-view, a plurality of segments is inferred, each segment defining a unique focus area within the camera's field-of-view. An autofocus lens of the camera sweeps to a respective focal distance associated with each of the plurality of segments. The camera captures sample images at each focal distance swept by the autofocus lens. The user equipment produces an all-in-focus image by combining or merging portions of the captured sample images.

  • Patent number: 10984653
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of controlling traffic lights in a V2X environment includes the operations of receiving, at a cloud server, status information of a number of vehicles; and filtering out one or more vehicles that are not to encounter a traffic light on their routes in a predetermined distance ahead of the vehicles. The method further includes obtaining a punctuality status of each remaining vehicle according to a schedule table; and optimizing each traffic light in the V2X environment based on the punctuality status of the vehicle to obtain a traffic light optimization result. The cloud server can send the traffic light optimization result to a vehicle closest to each traffic light. • Patent number: 10986011
Abstract: System utilization related to memory usage can be monitored by storing host memory usage information in the corresponding host physical memory. However, retrieving this information can be a high overhead operation because it involves engaging with the operating system of each host. Moreover, storing memory usage information in the host physical memories can pose a security risk if they also store privileged data. Network interfaces according to the present disclosure provide unobtrusive and secure support for monitoring of network and other system resources such as regions of memory within host physical memories. Implementations according to the present disclosure include a plurality of memory region counters stored on a network interface. Each memory region counter corresponds to one of the memory regions located in a physical memory of a host coupled to the network interface. Each of the counters includes a system utilization metric associated with its corresponding memory region.

  • Patent number: 10982493
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of salvaging an elongated oil well tubular that extends downwardly from an oil well platform as well as a saw apparatus of improved configuration. The method includes supporting the tubular in a generally upright or vertical position. A cutting apparatus is placed next to the tubular. The cutting apparatus includes a frame that supports a lifting device and a rotary cutter. The lifting device moves the rotary cutter from a first position to a second position that is higher than the first position. The second position is closer to the tubular than the first position. The rotary cutter can travel in an arcuate path when moving from the first position to the second position. The cutter moves along a selected path to cut the tubular. After cutting, the cut section is removed and the tubular then elevated so that an additional cut can be made. This procedure is repeated multiple times until the tubular has been salvaged, cut into many smaller pieces or sections.

  • Patent number: 10982498
Abstract: An electric driven hydraulic fracking system is disclosed. A pump configuration includes the single VFD, the single shaft electric motor, and the single hydraulic pump mounted on the single pump trailer. A controller associated with the single VFD and is mounted on the single pump trailer. The controller monitors operation parameters associated with an operation of the electric driven hydraulic fracking system as each component of the electric driven hydraulic fracking system operates to determine whether the operation parameters deviate beyond a corresponding operation parameter threshold. Each of the operation parameters provides an indicator as to an operation status of a corresponding component of the electric driven hydraulic fracking system. The controller initiates corrected actions when each operation parameter deviates beyond the corresponding operation threshold.

  • Patent number: 10982731
Abstract: A bungee loop retention assembly includes a housing, bungee channels, and a hold. The housing includes a first end and a second end. The bungee channels are disposed in the housing and extend from the first end to the second end. The hold is positioned at least partially in the housing and includes an external portion and retainers configured to interfere with a portion of a bungee retained in the bungee channel. The external portion has a central section between sleeves that define openings sized to surround portions of the bungee. The hold translates from a first position in which the retainers squeeze the bungee against a channel surface to a second position in which the retainers are separated from the bungee. In the first position, the bungee is bound to the openings and to the housing such that an intra-mechanism force pulls the hold against the housing.

  • Patent number: 10984260
Abstract: Operation of a vehicle that includes an autonomous operating system including an on-board map database includes operating in a travel lane employing a lane keeping control system and an adaptive cruise control system and monitoring a plurality of lane reference markers. Periodically, parameters are determined, including a first lateral offset for the vehicle based upon a forward-monitoring sensor and one of the lane reference markers, and a second lateral offset for the vehicle based upon a GPS sensor and the map database. A difference and an associated variance are determined, and an error in the map database is determined when the variance is greater than a threshold variance. The vehicle operator is alerted to actively control the vehicle based upon the detected error in the map database.

  • Patent number: 10983697
Abstract: A method includes, in one non-limiting embodiment, sending a request from a mass memory storage device to a host device, the request being one to allocate memory in the host device; writing data from the mass memory storage device to allocated memory of the host device; and subsequently reading the data from the allocated memory to the mass memory storage device. The memory may be embodied as flash memory, and the data may be related to a file system stored in the flash memory. The method enables the mass memory storage device to extend its internal volatile RAM to include RAM of the host device, enabling the internal RAM to be powered off while preserving data and context stored in the internal RAM.

  • Patent number: 10983705
Abstract: Techniques for handling pattern identifiers in a data storage system. By replacing a block pointer with a pattern identifier, the techniques can identify a data block (or an indirect data block) as a bad block, without resorting to the use of a separate flag or bad block (BB) bit in per-block metadata (e.g., a mapping pointer) of the data block. The techniques can also avoid waste of valuable metadata space by using pattern identifiers at various levels of a mapping tree, leveraging pointer granularity at lower levels, mid-levels, and progressively higher levels of the mapping tree.
