Abstract: A patient securing overlay is provided that includes a sheet of fabric for supporting a patient's torso on a surgical table. The sheet of fabric has an upper surface configured to face the patient and a lower surface configured to face a surgical table mattress or underbody support. The sheet of fabric includes friction enhancing elements applied to at least a portion of the upper surface thereof. The sheet of fabric can include an extension at a foot end of the sheet of fabric that provides material to be tucked under a foot end of the surgical table mattress or underbody support for securing the foot end of the sheet of fabric to the surgical table mattress or underbody support. The extension can include one or more friction enhancing elements.
Abstract: A method of interframe point cloud attribute coding is performed by at least one processor and includes obtaining, as a motion estimation unreliability measure of motion estimation of a target frame, a value inversely proportional to a ratio of a number of first point cloud samples of the target frame respectively with second point cloud samples of an interframe reference frame, to a number of point cloud samples in the target frame. The method further includes identifying whether the obtained motion estimation unreliability measure is greater than a predetermined threshold, based on the obtained motion estimation unreliability measure being identified to be greater than the predetermined threshold, skipping motion compensation of the target frame, and based on the obtained motion estimation unreliability measure being identified to be less than or equal to the predetermined threshold, performing the motion compensation of the target frame.

Abstract: A research application and service are provided. The research application can be a mobile application, a feature within a word processing software, or an extension of a web-browsing software, through which a user can indicate a subject of research or assignment and receive a list of research topics from which credible research sources can be searched. The user can be assigned to a group identifier that identifies a group of users that can collaborate on a research project. Research sources selected and collected by the user can be stored associated with the group identifier such that members of the group can see and use those selected sources. In some cases, users can tag a selected source with another user's identifier so that the selected source can be saved in that other user's collection.

Abstract: A method for controlling generation of biologically desirable voids in a composition placed in proximity to bone or other tissue in a patient by selecting at least one water-soluble inorganic material having a desired particle size and solubility, and mixing the water-soluble inorganic material with at least one poorly-water-soluble or biodegradable matrix material. The matrix material, after it is mixed with the water-soluble inorganic material, is placed into the patient in proximity to tissue so that the water-soluble inorganic material dissolves at a predetermined rate to generate biologically desirable voids in the matrix material into which bone or other tissue can then grow.

Abstract: A differential drive system includes an electric motor for generating an electric motor torque and an input planetary gear-set operatively connected to the electric motor to receive the electric motor torque. The input planetary gear-set has first, second, and third members. Abstract: A belt having a strap and a reversible belt buckle is provided where the strap has a top surface and a rear surface. The buckle includes an inner frame member having a first end having a slot to receive the first end of the strap and a second end having a first hinge section. The buckle further includes a top member having a rear surface having second hinge section disposed at a central axis. The top member has a pin disposed on the second hinge section. The top member is rotatable about a hinge point from a first position wherein the rear surface of the top member at the first edge faces the front side of the inner frame member, to a second position wherein the rear surface of the top member at the second edge faces the rear side of the inner frame member. The top member substantially covers the entire inner frame member when in use.
Abstract: A collection and concentration system including a separation tank having a plurality of distribution arms configured to separate and recover oil, water, and sediment or sand from an inflowing mixture of the same. The distribution arms are connected to and in fluid communication with a downcomer section of a center column that is vertically arranged in the separation tank. The distribution arms extend radially toward a sidewall of the tank and include tangential discharge nozzles that are tangentially directed toward the sidewall. Inflowing mixture directed tangentially against the sidewall is directed in a downward, helical manner that assists in the separation and recovery of oil, water, and sediment from the inflowing mixture.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to systems for providing a durable water-resistant and fire-resistant foam-based seal in the joint between adjacent panels. A fire-resistant and water-resistant expansion joint seal is provided which includes one or more foam members and a plurality of intumescent members within the foam member or between members to provide a spring recovery force and fire resistance.
Abstract: A portable compression system for preventing deep vein thrombosis is provided. The portable compression system includes an inflatable apparatus comprising a monitor unit and at least one inflatable air cell. The portable compression system further includes an outer cuff comprising a pocket configured to receive the inflatable apparatus, the outer cuff configured to be wrapped around a portion of a patient's body where prevention of deep vein thrombosis is desired. The portable compression system further includes a disposable sleeve barrier configured to provide a physical barrier between the outer cuff and the portion of the patient's body.
Abstract: Portable devices include environmental sensors that generate metrics about the environment (e.g., accelerometers detecting impulses and vibration, and GPS receivers detecting position and velocity). Such devices often use environmental metrics to extract user input directed at the device by the user, and status information about the device and the environment. Presented herein are techniques for using environmental metrics to infer physical activities performed by the user while attached to the device. For example, jogging may be inferred from regular, strong impulses and typical jogging speed; walking may be inferred from regular, weak impulses and typical walking speed; and riding in a vehicle may be inferred from low-level vibrations and high speed (optionally identifying the type of vehicle ridden by the user). Based on these inferences, the device may automatically present applications and/or or adjust user interfaces suitable for the user's physical activity, rather than responsive to user input.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a management console enabling monitoring of distributed components of a process control application. The management console includes a management console window that can be customized according to one or more user-defined software code modules that interface to data sources to populate views supported by the console window. The invention further includes a language and method of composing blocks of executable code within the management console that provide the capability to run many analyses simultaneously. The console window includes a set of view templates including controls for manipulating graphically displayed representations of data rendered by the distributed components, and an interface for exchanging requests and data with an extensible set of software modules that provide data links to one or more distributed data-linked components. The set of software modules also define the customizable portions of the view rendered by the console window.
