Abstract: A first image is rendered on an active area of an OLED display panel with a first refresh rate that is below a threshold refresh rate and, subsequent to rendering the first image with the first refresh rate, a second image that is different from the first image is rendered on the active area, where the rendering of the second image includes rendering a number of initial frames of the second image at a second refresh rate that is at or above the threshold refresh rate. After rendering the number of initial frames of the second image at the second refresh rate, additional frames of the second image on the active area are rendered with the first refresh rate, where the number of initial frames is greater than 1.

Abstract: In the field of high voltage direct current (HVDC) power transmission networks there is a need for an improved sensor failure detector. A sensor failure detector, for use in HVDC power transmission networks, includes an intelligent electronic device. The intelligent electronic device has a first input to receive in-use a number of first sample values from a first sensor measuring a given operational characteristic, and a second input to receive in-use a number of second sample values from a second sensor measuring the same given operational characteristic. The intelligent electronic device also includes a comparator module that is programmed to compare the first and second sample values with one another, and to establish a sensor failure when the first and second sample values differ from one another by more than a primary threshold for a predetermined first number of samples.

Abstract: A phase modulated continuous wave (PMCW) multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar system is described herein. The radar system is configured to compute range, velocity, and direction of arrival angle of objects relative to the radar system. The radar system includes several transmitting antennas and several receiving antennas, where selected transmitting antennas simultaneously transmit radar signals based on the same modulation signal. Per transmitting antenna, the transmissions are modulated with respective phase offsets on a per pulse repetition interval (PRI) basis. Hence, a coupling between phase shifts over PRI and transmitter positions is established. Effectively, then, each transmitting antenna is labeled with a velocity offset that corresponds to the phase rate of change assigned to the transmitting antenna. This approach is referred to herein as velocity-labeled multiplexing (VLM).

Abstract: Interaction-based ecosystems are presented. Interaction analysis engine analyze media content to derive a set of media features. The engine can then identify one or more interaction objects (e.g., transactions, searches, game play, etc.) based on the set of media features. Relevant interaction objects can then be instantiated as persistent available or active points of interaction readily accessed by a consumer. The consumer need only capture a digital representation of the content via a user device, a smart phone for example. A second set of media features can be derived from the digital representation and the second set of media features can then be used to find the instantiated interactions.

Abstract: An axial flux switched reluctance motor and/or generator, and controls are provided. It includes a stator, which includes a front surface and a rear surface, and sidewalls that extend from the front surface to the rear surface. The stator includes salient stator poles positioned on the front surface. Each one of the salient stator poles including: a bobbin protruding out from the front surface in a direction along an axis of the bobbin that is perpendicular to the front surface; the bobbin comprising a bobbin front surface that is substantially parallel to the front surface of the stator; and a coil of electrically insulated wire wound around the bobbin. A rotor includes a front rotor surface and an opposite facing rear rotor surface; and further includes a plurality of rotor poles. The rotor is affixed to a shaft and rotates about an axis of rotation that is aligned with the shaft.

Abstract: Techniques and systems for separating components of a mixture of compressed gases each having different boiling points are described. One example system includes multiple recovery stages that each recover one of the gases by condensing it into liquid form. The recovery stages are chained together, such that each stage recovers a gas having a boiling point that is higher than those of the gases to be recovered in downstream stages. Each stage typically includes a warming element that is fluidly coupled to a condenser element that provides a surface cooled to a temperature low enough to condense one of the gases, but high enough such that the remaining gases remain in gaseous form. The system may include an initial evaporator stage that heats a liquid solution of phytochemical extracts and multiple solvents, thereby recovering the extracts and producing the mixture of gaseous solvents.

Abstract: Disclosed implementations display information about entities in a structured way. In one aspect, a server may receive a request for information associated with an entity and identify information types associated with the entity. A server may generate a response that includes a plurality of regions for the entity, the regions being structured according to the identified information types, and may populate the regions with information of the entity for the identified information types and format the regions by determining a first color associated with the entity and configuring a portion of a first region of the plurality of regions with the first color, and determining a second color associated with the entity and configuring a portion of a second region of the plurality of regions with the second color. A server may transmit the populated and formatted plurality of regions to a client device for display by the client device.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and computer program products for controlling acceleration of a vehicle. The methods comprising: detecting a lateral distance from a point on a trajectory of the vehicle to a first object the vehicle is expected to pass when following the trajectory; selecting whether acceleration limiting is to be performed by the vehicle based on the lateral distance; obtaining a margin of the vehicle defined by a sequence of points; obtaining an amount by which the acceleration of the vehicle is to be limited based on the trajectory and the margin of the vehicle, when a selection is made that acceleration limiting is to be performed by the vehicle; and causing the vehicle to perform operations for autonomous driving with limiting of acceleration by the obtained amount.

Abstract: A multilayer foam film comprising high density polyethylene for direct and non-direct food contact and aseptic packaging application is disclosed. In an embodiment, the film has a bulk density of less than 0.962 gr/cm3 wherein more than 50% of the cells in the foam layer are closed cells. In an embodiment, the foam films are thick (generally more than 8 mils thick) and have a bending stiffness value of more than 18, in Taber stiffness unit configuration according to TAPPI/ANSI T 489 om-15, and the ratio of the mass per unit area (the mass of a unit area of the film in gram per meter-squared (gr/m2)) over the stiffness value in Taber unit configuration is equal to or less than 13. In an embodiment, the film has a very smooth surface with a smoothness value of less than 25 in Sheffiled smoothness unit configuration according to TAPPI T 538. The described foam film can have a water vapor transmission rate value of less than 1 gr/m2/24 hr, according to ASTM E398-13.

Abstract: A vehicle having a control element for the speed, acceleration or direction of the vehicle, two identical or redundant computing devices (e.g., each implemented as a system on chip (SoC)) to separately generate driving commands in parallel during autonomous driving of the vehicle, and a command controller coupled between the control element and the computing devices. In response to the commands from the identical or redundant computing devices, the command controller determines whether the commands are identical (or agree with each other); and if so, the command controller forwards one of the commands to the control element for execution. When there is a mismatch in the commands from the computing devices, the command controller tests the memories of the computing devices to identify a faulty one of the computing devices.

Abstract: A portable structure including a solar shade is disclosed. The portable structure includes a frame comprising at least two beams, a main panel extending between the at least two beams, and a solar shade. The solar shade includes at least one solar shade panel spaced above the main panel by at least one inflatable beam to create a space between the solar shade panel and the main panel. The space creates an insulative layer to help regulate an interior temperature of the portable structure.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for hardware system protection using verification of hardware digital identity values. One method comprises obtaining a first hardware digital identity value for a hardware system, wherein the first hardware digital identity value aggregates hardware identifiers of a plurality of hardware components in the hardware system at a first time; comparing a second hardware digital identity value to the first hardware digital identity value, wherein the second hardware digital identity value aggregates hardware identifiers of the hardware components in the hardware system at a second time subsequent to the first time; and performing an automated remedial action based on a result of the comparison. The comparison may be performed: (i) when the hardware system attempts to connect to at least one service over a network, and/or (ii) when the hardware system is installed, configured and/or activated at a remote location.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a content feed file for a content file to a content host. The method comprises delivering the content file and the content feed file to the content host, wherein the content feed file comprises one or more policies and the one or more policies direct the content host to manage the content file according to the one or more policies. After the content host processes the content file according to the provided policies, the content owner receives a status report wherein the status report comprises information about actions taken by the content host according to the one or more policies.

Abstract: Batch de-identification of unstructured health care documents includes performing optical character recognition (OCR) upon a form-based document so as to produce an initial set of terms. Amongst the initial set of terms, initial specific terms are identified which contain protected information. Each of the identified initial specific terms are then replaced with synthetically generated corresponding terms. Subsequently, additional OCR is performed upon the form-based document so as to produce a new set of terms and new specific terms are identified amongst the new set of terms which are determined to contain protected information. Finally, the new specific terms are compared to the initial specific terms and the form-based document is then added to a repository of de-identified documents only if none of the new specific terms are equivalent to corresponding ones of the initial specific terms. But otherwise, the form-based document is flagged in error.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods according to the present invention provides a human powered catamaran-styled watercraft and methods of configuring and operating the watercraft. The watercraft generally comprises at least one hull in communication with a folding collapsible frame, wherein in the frame comprises a center rack pivotally joining hulls of hull sets to provide for common pivoting of the hulls during articulation of the watercraft, thereby the hulls and frame are in further communication through a at least one pivot pad which provides for slidable pivoting of the hulls during articulation of the watercraft. A method of folding and reversibly extending the watercraft to provide for optimized storage is provided. A method of operation of the watercraft to provide for articulation of the watercraft is provided.
