Abstract: The present invention provides a system, method, software and data structure for independently predicting attitudinal and message responsiveness, using a plurality of attitudinal or other identification classifications and a plurality of message content or version classifications, for a selected population of a plurality of entities, such as individuals or households, represented in a data repository. The plurality of predictive attitudinal (or identification) classifications and plurality of predictive message content (ore version) classifications have been determined using a plurality of predictive models developed from a sample population and applied to a reference population represented in the data repository, such as attitudinal, behavioral, or demographic models. For each predictive attitudinal (or identification) classification, at least one predominant predictive message content or version classification is independently determined.

Abstract: A computer implemented method for automatically moderating a system response to a user's voice command. A voice command from a user is received. The voice command is associated with a system command, the system command including command requirements. A determination is the made as to whether the user is experiencing stress based on a stress level detected in the received voice command, and the command requirements dynamically adjusted when the user is determined to be experiencing stress.

Abstract: Unintended current flow or plasma discharge has been observed in known illuminated electrosurgical devices having a metallic tubular heat sink surrounding a conductive electrode and an illumination element, and having a distal outer edge that abuts against the light emitting element. An insulating, shielding or other isolating element that prevents or discourages unintended plasma formation between the distal outer edge and nearby patient tissue can reduce the potential for tissue damage to a patient or injury to a surgeon.
Abstract: Methods and systems for connecting threaded tubulars are presented. One example method generally includes engaging threads of the tubulars; engaging the first tubular with a clamp of a makeup tool; rotating the clamp of the makeup tool, thereby rotating the first tubular relative to the second tubular and making up the threaded connection; measuring turns of the first tubular; measuring turns of the clamp; and evaluating the threaded connection by comparing the measured turns of the first tubular and the measured turns of the clamp. One example system generally includes a makeup tool operable to rotate a first threaded tubular relative to a second threaded tubular. The makeup tool includes a clamp configured to engage the first tubular. The tubular makeup system further includes a first turns counter configured to measure turns of the first tubular; and a second turns counter configured to measure turns of the clamp.

Abstract: A communication device and method can include one or more processors operatively coupled to memory and an audible output device, where the one or more processors receive a call from a calling party that includes caller identification information and a voice paging message associated with the caller identification information, presenting the caller identification information, presenting the voice paging message as an alias of or to a ring tone or interleaved with the ring tone before the call from the calling party is answered or rejected. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract: In one example, an apparatus comprises: a photodiode, a charge storage unit, and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) circuit. In a first mode, the ADC circuit can compare a first voltage representing a quantity of the overflow charge stored at the charge storage unit against a first ramping voltage to generate a first decision; and obtain, based on the first decision output, a first digital value. In a second mode, the ADC circuit can compare a second voltage representing a quantity of residual charge stored in the photodiode against a second ramping voltage to generate a second decision, and obtain, based on the second decision, a second digital value. The ADC circuit can determine, based on one of the first decision output or the second decision output, whether the photodiode saturates, and output one of the first digital value or the second digital value to represent an intensity of incident light.

Abstract: Wager-based video slot reel games are disclosed where prizes can be awarded based upon by-chance insertion of bonus wild symbols. In particular, a series of free spin games are provided. In each spin of the series of free spin games, a number of bonus wild symbols can be awarded by chance. The by-chance awarded wild symbols can be randomly distributed in a game outcome array. If and after the wild symbols are awarded, the number of next by-chance insertable wild symbols is increased and that increase is signaled to the player to thereby heighten the expectations of the player of winning even more bonus wild symbols by-chance in a next of the series of free spin games.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for selecting and delivering advertising or promotional content based on, e.g., the attributes of a desired demographic. In one embodiment, the invention enhances advertising or promotional penetration into a particular demographic of a network subscriber pool by correlating the advertising/promotion (and even the contextual program content) with specific users or groups of users within the pool. This approach decouples the advertising or promotion from any given program or lineup, and gives the network operator flexibility in deciding where, when, and how often to insert advertisements or promotions in order to achieve the desired result. Dynamic network architectures such as broadcast switched architectures can also be leveraged to further enhance flexibility and targeting precision. In effect, the network advertising or promotion model is made results-driven (versus program-centric).
Abstract: Various implementations include a handle attachment device. The device includes a body and a drive shaft. The body has a first portion and a second portion. Each of the first portion and second portion defines at least one fastener opening. Each of the at least one fastener opening defined by the first portion is alignable with one of the at least one fastener opening defined by the second portion. The first portion and the second portion are clampable on a crank when the device is in a mounted position. The crank has a crank rotational axis.

Abstract: In an end user application running on a computer, for the purpose of collaborative modification of shared electronic documents, a graphical user interface is provided that facilitates storing an electronic document in shared storage. This graphical user interface includes a graphical element that conveys information about shared status of the currently accessed electronic document to the end user. Through input devices of the end user computer, an end user can manipulate this graphical element. Certain manipulations of this graphical element instruct the end user computer to store the currently accessed electronic document in shared storage if that electronic document has not yet been stored in shared storage. After the electronic document is stored in shared storage, the graphical user interface facilitates sharing of the electronic document with others. A graphical user interface that allows an electronic document to be quickly shared improves user efficiency and productivity in collaborative authoring.
