Abstract: A Solid-State Disk (SSD) Manufacturing Self Test (MST) capability enables an SSD manufacturer to generate and load tests onto SSDs, run the tests, and gather results. The SSDs self execute the loaded tests when powered up. The self executing is while coupled to a host that loaded the tests or while coupled to a rack unable to load the tests but enabled to provide power to the SSDs. The rack is optionally cost-reduced to enable cost-efficient parallel testing of relatively larger numbers of SSDs for production. The host writes the tests to an ‘input’ SMART log of each SSD, and each SSD writes results to a respective included ‘output’ SMART log. The commands include write drive, erase drive, SATA PHY burn-in, delay, and stress mode. The SSD MST capability is optionally used in conjunction with an SSD virtual manufacturing model.

Abstract: A multi-functional slurry processing system (“VARCOR”) and associated methods is disclosed. The present examples provide a multi-functional slurry processing system incorporating systems and methods for separating liquid and solid components in slurries. In particular the systems and methods described herein produce clean water, dried solids, and potential concentration of desirable constituents with a boiling point lower than water. At least one example of the multi-functional slurry processing system provides a self-contained processing facility configured to efficiently convert high water-content slurries into its constituent solid and liquid fractions and subsequently generating and collecting clean water and concentrating desirable constituents with a boiling point lower than water.

Abstract: Frames of a video frame sequence capturing one or more skin regions of a body are provided to a first neural network. The first neural network generates respective appearance representations based on the frames. An appearance representation generated based on a particular frame is indicative of a spatial distribution of a physiological signal across the particular frame. Simultaneously with providing the frames to the first neural network, the frames are also provided to a second neural network. The second neural network determines the physiological signal based on the frames. Determining the physiological signal by the second neural network includes applying the appearance representations, generated by the first neural network, to outputs of one or more layers of the second neural network to emphasize regions, in the frames, that exhibit relatively stronger presence of the physiological signal and deemphasize regions, in the frames, that exhibit relatively weaker presence of physiological signal.
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods of managing remote devices. The system can include a server with memory, a detection module, and a collection module. The memory can store a management information base (MIB) having a hierarchical tree of object identifiers and corresponding object values. The detection module can query devices and receive a first object identifier and its first object value, which can vary from those in the MIB; and use patterns to match the first object identifier and object value; and generate an identification of the device from the matches. The collection module can use the identification to select a collection template, which can indicate a subtree of the MIB and a collection pattern; traverse the subtree and identify a second object identifier that matches the collection pattern, and its second object value; and associate the second object value with the first object value.
Abstract: An electromagnetic mechanical pulser implements a transverse wave metallic comb stripline TWMCS kicker having inwardly opposing teeth that retards a phase velocity of an RF traveling wave to match the kinetic velocity of a continuous electron beam, causing the beam to oscillate before being chopped into pulses by an aperture. The RF phase velocity is substantially independent of RF frequency and amplitude, thereby enabling independent tuning of the electron pulse widths and repetition rate. The TWMCS further comprises an electron pulse picker (EPP) that applies a pulsed transverse electric field across the TWMCS to deflect electrons out of the beam, allowing only selected electrons and/or groups of electrons to pass through. The EPP pulses can be synchronized with the RF traveling wave and/or with a pumping trigger of a transverse electron microscope (TEM), for example to obtain dynamic TEM images in real time.

Abstract: A new rotor start-up system is provided for application to rotating systems such as stationary or vehicular electromechanical battery systems. An embodiment of the system consists of a “locator” that includes a stationary permanent-magnet pole above which is a circular ferromagnetic (e.g., iron) strip embedded in the lower, inner edge of the flywheel rotor. The lower edge of this strip is wave-like so that the magnet can pull the rotor around to a position where the position relative to the minimum capacity between the rotor and stator electrodes is such as to launch the rotor in a chosen direction, i.e., either clock-wise or counter-clockwise. Startup from rest is then accomplished by applying a short high-voltage ac or dc pulse to the EMB capacitor.

Abstract: An eyewear retention device is disclosed that includes a length of resilient braided or monofilament line, terminating at each end in a tapered, rubberized retention tubing. One or more retractable spring loaded mechanisms have a locking mechanism for easy extraction and retraction back and forth by simply pulling on said line. The combination of the resilient line and the mechanisms produces a tensioned arc such that in addition to retaining eyeglasses around wearers head when in use when not in use with a simple pull on said line, the retention device forms a suspended arc over the wear's upper torso such that the device does not contact the wear's upper torso or their vestment when donned over a wearer's eyes.
