Abstract: A process for hydrotreating a hydrocarbon residue stream is provided. The process comprises hydrotreating the hydrocarbon residue stream over a demetallation catalyst to demetallize the hydrocarbon residue stream to provide a demetallized hydrocarbon residue stream reduced in metals and sulfur concentration. The demetallized hydrocarbon residue stream is separated in a hot separator to provide an overhead vapor stream comprising hydrogen and a bottoms liquid stream. The bottoms liquid stream is split into a first liquid stream and a second liquid stream comprising low sulfur fuel oil. The second liquid stream is recovered as a low sulfur fuel oil product stream. The first liquid stream is hydrotreated over a desulfurization catalyst in the presence of at least a portion of the overhead vapor stream to provide a desulfurized hydrocarbon residue stream. The present process provides low sulfur fuel oil product stream comprising from about 0.3 wt % to about 1.5 wt % sulfur.
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a lighting and ventilating system including a main housing. The main housing can include an inlet through which air can be received within the main housing and an outlet through which the air can exit the main housing. A fan wheel can be supported in the main housing and it can be operable to generate a flow of air. A grille can be coupled to the main housing and the grille can comprise at least one aperture. The system can include a plate coupled to the grille and the plate can include a recess. Also, a set of illumination devices can be at least partially disposed within the recess.
Abstract: Methods, devices and systems are disclosed for improved depth perception in stereoscopic night vision devices. Among these are embodiments for aligning information overlays in the stereo view with associated objects, and for generating stereo information from single lenses or intensifiers. In some illustrative embodiments, a camera and position sensor are provided for at least two viewers, e.g., a pilot and a copilot, such that when a scene overlaps between viewers, the system produces a stereoptic scene, in which the users can more accurately determine a difference in depth between two or more distant objects. An illustrative binocular night vision system uses a high-resolution depth map to present binocular images to a user. In some embodiments, supplementary content can be overlaid, with an appropriate binocular disparity that is based on the depth map.

Abstract: A toroidal combustion engine is provided. The toroidal combustion engine includes a first and a second toroidal cylinder which share a single common intersection to define a combustion chamber. The first toroidal cylinder carries a first piston set, while the second toroidal cylinder carries a second piston set. The first and second piston sets are each rotatable about circular paths which are disposed in planes that are perpendicular to one another.
Abstract: A weight training sled (100) characterized by one or more of (A) rotatable wheels (130) in contact with ground, (B) curvilinear push handles (140) with comfortably spaced, and inwardly and/or downwardly angled hand grips (143), and (C) an elevated tow hook (160).

Abstract: A system and method of automated classification of rock types includes: partitioning, by a processing device, an image into partitions; extracting, by the processing device, sub-images from each of the partitions; first-level classifying, by an automated classifier, the sub-images into corresponding first classes; and second-level classifying, by the processing device, the partitions into corresponding second classes by, for each partition of the partitions, selecting a most numerous one of the corresponding first classes of the sub-images extracted from the partition. A method of displaying automated classification results on a display device is provided. The method includes: receiving, by a processing device, an image partitioned into partitions and classified into corresponding classes; and manipulating, by the processing device, the display device to display the image together with visual identification of the partitions and their corresponding classes.

Abstract: A dual motion tailgate is configured to undergo two distinct motions, each with advantages depending on circumstances. The tailgate can undergo a rotation (i.e., drop) motion as well as a swing down motion via one or more linkages and corresponding latches. The swing down motion allows closer access to the bed, and the tailgate extends less far from the rear of the vehicle as compared to the drop motion. Latches constrain one or more motions of the tailgate, allowing a desired motion of the tailgate. The motions may be manually controlled, or actuator controlled. When automatically controlled, a control system manages one or more latches and actuators to allow a desired motion of the tailgate.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be an embedded-system device. The embedded-system device determines a respective operational state of each of one or more threads of a process executing on the embedded-system device. The embedded-system device stores the respective operational state of each of the one or more threads in a thread state register in a memory of the embedded-system device. The embedded-system device stores information data associated with the respective operational state of each of the one or more threads in the thread state register. The embedded-system device determines that operation of at least one thread of the one or more threads is abnormal. The embedded-system device retrieves the stored operational states of the one or more threads from the thread state register in response to the determination. The embedded-system device outputs the retrieved operational states.
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present technology may provide methods and apparatus for an interface. The interface may be configured as a low-voltage, bi-directional channel redriver having a transmitter and a receiver that share input pads and output pads. The interface may provide for selective biasing of the transmitter and receiver using a switching circuit and a resistance circuit connected to the channel's input and output pads.
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring and updating user availability based upon presence and television viewing behavior are described herein. In one embodiment, a presence system is used to detect a user's presence to update the user's availability status. The availability status is then used to update a contact list, voicemail message, and/or busy message. In further embodiments, user preferences are used in combination with presence data to update the user's availability status. In still further embodiments, a user's television viewing behavior is used in combination with the presence data, user preferences, or both to update the user's availability status. Alternative embodiments provide systems and methods in accordance with the present invention for other interactive devices.
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an article (e.g., a vapor-permeable, substantially water-impermeable multilayer article) that includes a nonwoven substrate and a film supported by the nonwoven substrate. The film includes a polyolefin, a nanoclay, and a pore-forming filler.
Abstract: A multi-functional slurry processing system (“VARCOR”) and associated methods is disclosed. The present examples provide a multi-functional slurry processing system incorporating systems and methods for separating liquid and solid components in slurries. In particular the systems and methods described herein produce clean water, dried solids, and potential concentration of desirable constituents with a boiling point lower than water. At least one example of the multi-functional slurry processing system provides a self-contained processing facility configured to efficiently convert high water-content slurries into its constituent solid and liquid fractions and subsequently generating and collecting clean water and concentrating desirable constituents with a boiling point lower than water.
