Patent number: 10798208Abstract: Availability data caching in, meeting services is provided. In some examples, a list of users whose data is to be cached locally for a user may be determined based on factors such as their relevance to the user, a likelihood of a meeting being requested with the users, a history of common meetings, and similar factors. What type of user data to cache, for how long, at which granularity level, and similar parameters may be determined as well. User data for users from the list may be retrieved on-demand or on a regular basis from server associated with those users and stored at a server or other computing device for the user for fast access when the user requests to schedule a meeting.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2016Date of Patent: October 6, 2020Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Jaskaran Singh, Hemant Sharma, Jaya Matthew

Patent number: 10794435Abstract: A transmission includes a selectable one-way clutch with an active state and a passive state. To avoid occupant discomfort and hardware damage, transitions from the passive state to the active state must only be commanded when no or very little slip is present across the selectable one-way clutch. Several methods are presented to eliminate slip, depending on vehicle speed. When the vehicle is stationary, full engagement of a clutch that causes slip to be proportional to vehicle speed eliminates slip. When the vehicle is moving backwards, partial engagement of the above clutch eliminates slip. When the vehicle is moving forwards, full engagement of all but one clutch of a tie-up condition and partial engagement of the remaining clutch of the tie-up condition brings the vehicle to a stop and eliminates slip.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2019Date of Patent: October 6, 2020Assignee: FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Timothy Fedullo, Abhay Mane, Bradley Dean Riedle, Conor Edward Sullivan, Stephen Michael Cicala, John Randall Armstead

Patent number: 10796258Abstract: Effects in multiple linear regression may be decorrelated to decompose and attribute risk to common and proper effects. In other words, an attribute risk may be decomposed to two or more causes, where each cause is characterized by multiple attributes. The risk decomposition may decompose risk into a first residual part associated with a first set of risk factors, a second residual part associated with a second set of risk factors, and a common part associated with a set of common hidden variables that minimize a correlation between the first set of factors and the second set of factors. The common hidden variables may be modeled using a hidden factor model. An effect of the correlation may be minimized on the first set of risk factors and the second set of risk factors, and how correlated the terms of the risk decomposition are may be quantified.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2018Date of Patent: October 6, 2020Assignee: Triad National Security, LLCInventors: Nicolas Hengartner, Leticia Cuellar-Hengartner

Patent number: 10796285Abstract: A computer-implemented technique is described herein for rescheduling events within calendars to achieve a target objective with respect to target occurrences of a particular kind in the calendars. For instance, the target occurrences may correspond to instances of free time, and the target objective is to increase the amount of minimum-sized free-time blocks within the calendars, e.g., by favoring the introduction of large free-time blocks of minimum size (e.g., two-hour blocks), and disfavoring the presence of smaller-sized free-time blocks scattered among calendar events. In other words, the technique defragments the calendars with respect to free time expressed in those calendars. At the same time, the technique honors (when possible) participant-related constraints associated with calendar events. Further, the technique penalizes modification of an event as a function of a temporal distance over which the event is moved; this penalization has the effect of reducing disruption to the calendars.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2016Date of Patent: October 6, 2020Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Warren D. Patent number: 10795735Abstract: Data Virtual Data Movers (VDM) are assigned to nodes of the storage cluster and a backup node is assigned for each data VDM. A system VDM on each node collects node statistics including operational parameters of the node and activity levels of the data VDMs on the node. A cluster manager collects the node statistics from each of the system VDMs and uses weighted collected node statistics to assign a node score to each node in the storage cluster. The cluster manager uses the node scores to identify possible data VDM movement combinations within the storage cluster by applying a set of hard rules and a set of soft rules to evaluate the possible data VDM movement combinations. If a VDM movement combination is selected, it is implemented by moving at least some of the data VDMs within the cluster to attempt to equalize node scores within the cluster.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2018Date of Patent: October 6, 2020Assignee: EMC IP Holding Company LLCInventors: AJay Potnis, Sindhura Chamala
