  • Patent number: 10792478
Abstract: A method may include accessing an artery in communication with an ophthalmic artery of a subject, and advancing a microcatheter along the accessed artery so as to align a distal end of the microcatheter with an ostium of the ophthalmic artery, wherein the microcatheter includes a lumen having a guidewire positioned therein. In addition, the method includes proximally withdrawing the guidewire relative to the microcatheter so as to enable a distal portion of the microcatheter to assume a curved relaxed configuration, and cannulating the ostium with the distal portion of the microcatheter when the distal portion is in the curved relaxed configuration.

  • Patent number: 10791976
Abstract: A system for needle-free drawing of blood is disclosed. A hand-portable device can include an evacuated negative-pressure barrel with a membrane sealing an aperture at a distal end, and a housing affixed to a proximal end. An accelerator barrel can be positioned within the negative-pressure barrel and fixed to the housing, with an open proximal end in a chamber in the housing, and an open distal end aligned with the aperture. The chamber can be filled with pressurized gas, and a trigger valve can hydrostatically separate the chamber from the open proximal end of the accelerator barrel. A micro-particle positioned within the accelerator barrel can be accelerated to high speed by an abrupt surge of gas by releasing the trigger valve. The micro-particle can attain enough momentum to pierce the aperture membrane and penetrate adjacent dermal tissue. A resulting micro-emergence of blood can be drawn into the negative pressure barrel.

  • Patent number: 10791708
Abstract: A tag is implanted in the forwardmost part of an animal to determine the location of the animal for competitive and security purposes. The tag is implanted such that it is inserted in the first part of an animal to cross a finish line. By using the tag to determine the when an animal has reached a predetermined location, the method and system can evaluate the results of the race, negating the need for human judgment. Further, the invention allows for tracking of the animal in transit and when at a race grounds.

  • Patent number: 10793897
Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques to improve the accuracy of random access of data stored in polynucleotide sequence data storage systems. Primers used in polynucleotide sequence replication and amplification can be scored against a number of criteria that indicate the fitness of sequences of nucleotides to function as primers. Primers having scores that indicate a particular fitness to function as primers can be added to a specific group of primers. The primers from the group of primers can be used in amplification and replication of polynucleotide sequences that encode digital data. Additionally, an amount of overlap between primer targets and payloads encoding digital data can be determined. Minimizing the amount of overlap between primer targets and payloads can improve the efficiency of polynucleotide replication and amplification. The bits of the digital data can be randomized to minimize the amount of overlap between payloads encoding the digital data and primer targets.
