Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for determining locations for range-extending devices. Signal strength between devices within an area may be measured one or more times over a time period. Based on the measurements, signal loss over fronthaul links and backhaul links may be determined for each range-extending device in the area. A predicted improvement in signal quality may be determined. A direction and distance to move each range-extending device may be determined based on a comparison with the fronthaul and backhaul signal qualities and the predicted improvement in signal quality. The direction, improvement in signal quality, and/or user preferences for devices may be used to determine an improvement associated with moving one or more range-extending devices.
Abstract: Systems and methods for operating one or more qubits in a quantum computing system are provided. In some examples, a method can include obtaining past time data associated with a temporal metric of an operating parameter of a qubit in a quantum device. The method can include selecting an operating parameter value based at least in part on the past time data associated with the temporal metric of the operating parameter to reduce likelihood of occurrence of a time dependent defect. The time dependent defect can exhibit a time dependent behavior. The method can include operating the qubit in the quantum device at the operating parameter value.
Abstract: An electronic device includes a first processor; a first commissioning element to communicate with external devices using wireless communication and a first memory storing programs for commissioning a target device onto a communication network. The communication network has configuration data including a network identifier and a network key. The programs provide a user interface for commissioning the target device. The target device includes a second processor, a second wireless radio, and a second commissioning element to receive the network configuration data. The target device decodes the network configuration data to commission the target device onto the communication network. The electronic device sends the network configuration data to the target device and receives confirmation that the target device has successfully connected to the communication network. The electronic device displays the success in a user interface.
Abstract: A technique selects and serves local information items (e.g., news articles) to users. In a first stage, the technique uses a machine-trained localness-determining system to determine whether a candidate information item contains the kind of information that qualifies as locally-themed. In a second stage, a scope-determining system determines a particular geographic region associated with the information item. The technique then selectively serves the information item to a particular consumer upon determining that the particular consumer is located in the particular geographic region associated with the item. In some implementations, the scope-determining system describes the particular geographic region of the information item using a set of geohashes, and describes the location of the consumer using at least one geohash. The technique uses an ensemble approach to identify the particular geographic region of the item, and to generate training examples for use in training the localness-determining system.
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to a system and method for randomly generating unlock codes and identifiers for locks, and creating unlock code and identifier pairs. In an exemplary embodiment, the invention is integrated with, or part of, a distributed management system that controls access to various locations, such as, for example, self-storage units, hotel rooms, apartment buildings, storage containers, short-term housing rentals, lockers, equipment rooms, vaults, hospitals, airports, government facilities, nuclear power facilities, water treatment facilities, weapon storage facilities, aircraft cockpits, and any other setting that requires restricted, selective, or monitored access that can be remotely controlled, whereby users can request an unlock code via text messaging using a mobile device.
Abstract: Systems and methods are directed to monitoring and managing a health of a content processing data ingestion pipeline. In example embodiments, a plurality of content elements are ingested from a source to a destination through the ingestion pipeline, whereby the ingestion pipeline comprises a plurality of nodes between the source and the destination. A data management system detects a gap in the ingestion pipeline. The gap indicates a difference associated with a content element of the plurality of content elements between a first node and a second node of the ingestion pipeline. In response to detecting the gap, the data management system automatically triggers reingesting of the content element from the first node. The data management system also determines, based on monitoring of the ingestion pipeline, the health of the ingestion pipeline and provides a dashboard that graphically represents the health.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus for video decoding. The apparatus includes processing circuitry that can determine multiple transform selection (MTS) selection information of a plurality of transform coefficient blocks in a coded video bitstream. The MTS selection information indicates at least one of (i) threshold information or (ii) a plurality of MTS candidate subsets for a transform coefficient block in the plurality of transform coefficient blocks. The processing circuitry can determine which MTS candidate subset in the plurality of MTS candidate subsets is selected for the transform coefficient block based on the MTS selection information and inversely transform the transform coefficient block based on an MTS candidate included in the determined MTS candidate subset.
Abstract: A device for leveling and aligning tiles and method for leveling and aligning tiles are disclosed. In one embodiment, the leveling device includes a body and two spaced and parallel strip members extending transversely from the body. Each of the spaced and parallel strip members extend to the front and rear of the body. Two opposing lateral open windows are formed in the body. A breakaway section is defined along the body. A wedge device is provided for penetrating one or more of the two opposing lateral open windows and exerting a force on the tiles for leveling them relative to each other.
Abstract: A reservoir refill system for an electronic vaping device includes a refill container and a reservoir. The refill container contains a pre-vapor formulation. The refill container includes a body, an opening in the body, and a first interlocking ring including at least one groove or at least one protrusion therein. The reservoir is configured to contain a pre-vapor formulation and includes a reservoir body, an opening in the reservoir body, and a second interlocking ring including at least one groove or at least one protrusion therein at an opening of the reservoir. The first interlocking ring is configured to mate with the second interlocking ring so as to release the pre-vapor formulation from the refill container to the reservoir.
Abstract: A new catalyst hydroisomerizes C18 paraffins from fatty acids to a high degree to produce a composition with acceptable freeze point which retains 18 carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon molecule for jet fuel. We have discovered a fuel composition comprising at least 14 wt % hydrocarbon molecules having at least 18 carbon atoms and a freeze point not higher than ?40° C. The composition also may exhibit a exhibiting a final boiling point of no more than 300° C. The hydroisomerization process can be once through or a portion of the product diesel stream may be selectively hydrocracked or recycled to hydroisomerization to obtain a fuel composition that meets jet fuel specifications.

Abstract: The techniques disclosed herein compensate for crosstalk effects between victim and aggressor emitters, such as for proximity located laser diodes in a scanned laser display system. The data stream associated with a drive signal for an aggressor is decomposed into rising and falling timing and amplitude values that are stored in a history buffer. The lag in timing between a reference timing signal from the victim data stream and the timing values in the history buffer are used to identify compensation factors. The compensation factors, which may be stored in a look-up table and based on prior collected data, are applied to rising and falling amplitudes from the history buffer to product weighted sums. The weighted sums are applied to the data stream for the victim emitter to compensate for crosstalk effects that would occur as a consequence of the aggressor.

Abstract: Coating compositions are disclosed that can be applied to at least a food-facing surface of a molded fiber container to make the coated container suitable for applications involving long term storage of a dry or frozen food item combined with short term contact with the food item in a liquid or moist state. The coating compositions include carboxylated polyvinyl alcohol copolymer and a crosslinking resin that is epichlorohydrin-based and/or azetidinium-functionalized. The compositions can also include clay particles or other suitable fillers. After crosslinking and drying, the compositions form a thermoset barrier coating in which the polyvinyl alcohol is bonded to the crosslinker by a plurality of function groups including ester functional groups.
Abstract: Processes of consolidating tailings such as from metal and non-metal based ore processes are disclosed. The processes include mixing tailings with a high concentration of a highly water soluble salt or an aqueous solution thereof to destabilize and consolidate solids in the tailings and separating the consolidated solids from process water.
