Abstract: A surface covering layout system includes a processing circuit configured to receive image data regarding one or more images associated with a surface to be covered with a surface covering, and generate a surface covering layout based on the image data, the surface covering layout providing an indication of a pattern of a plurality of covering members included in the surface covering.
Abstract: A system including a controllable device configured to provide a premises related service in an area of a premises. The system includes an electroencephalography (EEG) device configured to be positioned with respect to a head of a user and process signals detected in real-time. The system also includes a processor in communication with the EEG device, a memory accessible by the processor and instructions stored in the memory for execution by the processor. A data is stored in the memory that associates each of a plurality of predetermined sets of signals from the brain detected via the EEG device with at least one control instruction. The execution of the instructions configures the processor to using the stored data, analyze the real-time detected signals to determine that the real-time detected signals correspond to one of the plurality of predetermined set of signals associated with the one control instruction and generate a control data signal based on the one control instruction.

Abstract: An analog to digital conversion circuit includes an analog to digital converter (ADC) circuit operable to convert an analog signal having an oscillation frequency into a first digital signal having a first data rate frequency, where the analog signal includes a set of pure tone components. The analog to digital conversion circuit further includes a digital decimation filtering circuit operable to convert the first digital signal into a second digital signal having a second data rate frequency. The analog to digital conversion circuit further includes a digital bandpass filter (BPF) circuit operable to convert the second digital signal into an outbound digital signal having a third data rate frequency, where the digital bandpass filter circuit is set to produce a bandpass region approximately centered at the oscillation frequency of the analog signal and having a bandwidth tuned for filtering a pure tone.

Abstract: A fastening system comprises a fastening mechanism having a transition member and a ramp member. The transition member has a lower planar element, and an upper planar element, and a central portion disposed therebetween. The ramp member has a lower planar component, a first upper planar component, a forwardly angled component disposed between the lower planar component and the first upper planar component, and a backwardly angled component extending outwardly from the first upper planar component. The ramp member upper planar component is disposed above the transition member upper planar element, and the transition member lower planar element is at least partially disposed above the ramp member lower planar member.
Abstract: An improved ultrasonic system and method. The ultrasonic stack is moved at a low, constant (or slowly varying) speed at the initiation of the welding operation, with this speed being maintained until the predetermined condition is satisfied. In some applications, this produces a higher quality weld, such as in applications involving plastic material that softens very quickly once ultrasonic energy is imparted to the workpieces being welded, which causes the force between the workpieces to decrease rapidly. Advancing the ultrasonic stack at a low speed or slow acceleration can avoid scuffing or marking of the surface of the workpiece in contact with the ultrasonic horn, decrease audible noise produced during the welding process, and improve the consistency of weld quality in such applications compared to conventional techniques.
Abstract: A battery cell having an anode or cathode comprising an acidified metal oxide (“AMO”) material, preferably in monodisperse nanoparticulate form 20 nm or less in size, having a pH<7 when suspended in a 5 wt % aqueous solution and a Hammett function H0>12, at least on its surface.
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a method for selecting text snippets to display on a computer display is provided. A universal concept graph for phrases relevant to a search domain is created, the universal concept graph representing each phrase as a node and relationships between the phrases as edges between the nodes. A result in the search domain is represented as a subgraph of the universal concept graph by extracting a portion of the universal concept graph containing phrases contained in the result. Then, a score is produced for each node of the subgraph, the score based on a graph analysis algorithm applied to the subgraph. Then text snippets to display for the result are selected to be displayed based on the scores produced in the subgraph for phrases contained in the text snippets.

Abstract: Automatically generating a glossary of terms for a given document or group of documents is provided. A single document or a group of documents associated with a given project or event are parsed for one or more unique terms (e.g., words, acronyms, phrases, etc.). Identified terms are passed to a local or external definition source, and definitions for the one or more identified terms are retrieved. Retrieved definitions are presented to a user of the documents, and approved definitions are stored in a project store for subsequent use in association with the documents.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a system includes a high side heat exchanger, a load, a compressor, and a horizontal oil separator. The high side heat exchanger is configured to remove heat from a refrigerant. The horizontal oil separator comprises a centrifugal chamber, an oil, a cut line, a filter, a collector, and an outlet. The centrifugal chamber is configured to receive the refrigerant from the compressor and rotate the refrigerant, wherein rotating the refrigerant separates an oil from the refrigerant. The cut line is configured to prevent the oil separated in the centrifugal chamber from combining with the refrigerant. The filter is configured to separate additional oil from the refrigerant. The collector is configured to collect the oil separated in the centrifugal chamber and the additional oil. The outlet is configured to discharge the refrigerant to the high side heat exchanger.
Abstract: An ambient heat engine that is thermally coupled to its environment is provided. The ambient heat engine includes two complementary electrochemical cells. One cell has a positive voltage temperature coefficient and the other cell has a negative voltage temperature coefficient. The ambient heat engine further includes a controller and an electrical energy storage device. When the ambient temperature increases or decreases, the temperature variation creates a voltage differential between the two cells, and the controller discharges the higher voltage cell and uses a portion of the discharged energy to charge the lower voltage cell. The difference in energy is extracted by the controller and supplied to the electrical energy storage device. The controller includes circuitry for coupling energy from the energy storage device to the cells in order to compensate for self-discharge of the cells which may occur due to electronic leakage and diffusion phenomenon over extended periods of time.
Abstract: A remotely-operated fluid connection assembly to hold higher internal pressures in larger diameters. The assembly comprises a fluid connection adapter and a fluid connection housing assembly. When the adapter enters the housing assembly: (A) locking elements on the housing assembly constrict about the adapter; and (B) at least a first seal section on the adapter sealingly contacts a first seal bore on the housing assembly. Progressive engagement of a locking ring upon the locking elements urges the locking elements to tighten against the adapter. Internal pressure encourages adapter displacement, which then further tightens the adapter against the locking elements as now restrained by the locking ring. Internal pressure further encourages the first seal section on the adapter to expand radially to tighten the contact with the first seal bore in the housing assembly.
