Abstract: An ablation catheter comprises an elongated catheter body; at least one ablation element disposed in a distal portion which is adjacent the distal end of the catheter body; an illumination optical element disposed in the distal portion, the illumination optical element being light-transmissive to emit light from the illumination optical element to the targeted tissue region; and a collection optical element disposed in the distal portion, the collection optical element being light-transmissive to collect one or more of returned, backscattered or newly excited light from the targeted tissue region. The illumination or excitation optical element and the collection optical element are axially spaced from one another and axially optically isolated from one another within the distal portion to substantially prevent light from traveling between the illumination optical element and the collection optical element along a path within the distal portion.

Abstract: A user device for monitoring a physical condition of a user, such as a heart rate or blood oxygen level, includes an erbium doped glass component and a light source. The light source is configured to generate light equal to an excitation frequency of the erbium doped glass. The erbium doped glass component is configured to generate, through photoluminescence, one or more peaks of higher intensity light corresponding to a wavelength which can be used to monitor a physical condition of a user. The amplified light is sent to the user and received back at a photodetector, which can then algorithmically determine a physical condition of a user.
Abstract: A battery system includes a battery assembly and an equipment interface. The battery assembly includes a battery pack, a battery housing enclosing the battery pack, a communication gateway, and a first electrical connector. The battery pack includes rechargeable battery cells. The communication gateway is configured to communicate using a first communication protocol and a second communication protocol different from the first communication protocol. The first electrical connector includes a plurality of first terminals. The equipment interface is configured to be coupled to a piece of equipment, and includes a second electrical connector including a plurality of second terminals. The second electrical connector is configured to mate with the first electrical connector to electrically coupled the plurality of first terminals with the plurality of second terminals to electrically couple the battery assembly to the equipment interface.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide for generation of trajectories for a vehicle driving in an autonomous driving mode. For instance, information identifying a plurality of objects in the vehicle's environment and a confidence value for each of the objects is received. A set of constraints may be generated. That one or more processors are unable to solve for a trajectory given the set of constraints and an acceptable braking limit may be determined. A first constraint is identified as a constraint for which could not be solved and a first confidence value. That the vehicle should apply a maximum braking level is determined based on the identified first confidence value, a threshold, and the determination that the one or more processors are unable to solve for a trajectory. Based on the determination that the vehicle should apply the maximum braking level, the maximum braking level is applied.
Abstract: A controller may be configured to receive one or more measured rotational speeds of a wheel of a vehicle. The controller may be configured to determine whether the one or more measured rotational speeds are unreliable relative to one or more previous rotational speeds of the wheel of the vehicle. The controller may be configured to calculate a replacement rotational speed of the wheel and use the replacement rotational speed of the wheel to control or restrict movement of the vehicle using or based on the replacement rotational speed in place of the one or more measured rotational speeds.
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to controlling a vehicle in an autonomous driving mode. For instance, a trajectory is identified. The trajectory defines a future desired path for the vehicle and includes a control requirement having a corresponding point in time. A command for achieving the control requirement is generated. A fixed delay value corresponding to a delay caused by transmission of the command to an actuator of the vehicle is generated. A variable delay value corresponding to a delay caused by an amount of time to change a physical state of the actuator to a desired state according to the command is generated. The command is then sent to the actuator based on the fixed delay value, the variable delay value, and so that the actuator causes the vehicle to move according to the command.

Abstract: A valve actuator system includes a valve actuator assembly having a body defining an interior cavity and a piston coupled to a piston rod and movable within a piston cylinder provided within the interior cavity. The piston cylinder has a first chamber on a first side of the piston and a second chamber on a second rod side of the piston. One or more electronic components are disposed within the interior cavity and include at least one processor. The one or more electronic components are configured to move the piston via controlled air pressure and to continuously monitor and/or determine a position of the piston rod relative to the piston cylinder. A fail-safe reservoir is coupled to a source of air and is connected to both the first chamber and the second chamber to provide operating air thereto.
Abstract: Delivery mechanisms and distribution mechanisms are varied, adjusted, or modified based on a desired fuel application. Dimensions, flow rates, pressures, viscosities, temperatures, friction parameters, and combinations thereof may be varied, adjusted or modified. The fuel application may include a scrubber application. The scrubber application uses a delivery mechanism to deliver a wet or dry scrubbing agent at a low pressure to a distribution mechanism. The distribution mechanism distributes the scrubbing agent within the scrubbing chamber. The delivery mechanism is adjustable based on properties of a feedstock utilized to deliver the scrubbing agent, properties of a propellant, or properties of the scrubbing application. The distribution mechanism is adjustable based on desired distribution characteristics including shape, size, or velocity of drops, mists, or particles distributed.
