Abstract: A method is provided for interacting with audience members in an event, each of the potential attendees having available thereto a unique identifier. The method comprises creating, for an attendee, a unique ID (UID) on a mobile wireless device (MWD) by the steps of inputting to the MWD one of the unique identifiers, combining the obtained unique identifier with a UID time stamp at the time of creation of the UID; receiving with a server on a first wireless channel communications from the MWD; registering the UID at the physical location of the event; generating a visual query; displaying on the MWD response indicators; receiving at the server from the registered attendee a response, to the query over the first wireless channel; and storing in a database on the server the received response in association with the displayed query.

The method involves (a) subjecting an unmatured spirit to ultrasonic energy at a power of at least 3 Watts/Liter for at least one hour while maintaining the temperature of the unmatured spirit between 90° F. and 150° F.; and (b) subjecting the unmatured spirit and wood to actinic light at a wavelength ranging from 400 nm to 1000 nm for a cumulative exposure of at least 2,280,000 lux hours. The disclosure also provides embodiments where a spirit processed with ultrasonic energy is mixed with a spirit that has been separately treated with light to give characteristics of a mature spirit.
Abstract: A method of forming a headrest assembly includes providing a first mold that encloses a first cavity in a closed condition. A support is positioned in the first cavity. A first material is blow molded into the first cavity and around a portion of the support to form a core part. The core part and support are removed from the first mold. A second mold encloses a second cavity in a closed condition. The core part and the support are placed into the second mold in an open condition. A fluid is injected into the core part through the support. The second mold is converted to the closed condition. A second material is injection molded into the second cavity and around the core part to form an outer shell around the core part. A fluid is withdrawn from the core part through the support.

Abstract: A rapid one-pass liquid filtration system efficiently concentrates biological particles that are suspended in liquid from a dilute feed suspension. A sample concentrate or retentate suspension is retained while eliminating the separated fluid in a separate flow stream. Suspended biological particles include such materials as proteins/toxins, viruses, DNA, and/or bacteria in the size range of approximately 0.001 micron to 20 microns diameter. Concentration of these particles is advantageous for detection of target particles in a dilute suspension, because concentrating them into a small volume makes them easier to detect. Additional concentration stages may be added in “cascade” fashion, in order to concentrate particles below the size cut of each preceding stage remaining in the separated fluid in a concentrated sample suspension. This process can also be used to create a “band-pass” concentration for concentration of a particular target size particle within a narrow range.

Abstract: A system for decreasing the response time of a vehicle heating ventilation and air conditioning (“HVAC”) system is described. A fan circulates air through a HVAC casing. Circulating air through the HVAC casing creates a high-pressure zone within the HVAC casing. A thermal expansion valve is located outside of the HVAC casing. An outlet port is located on the HVAC casing to allow air to be ported from the high-pressure zone toward the thermal expansion valve. Air ported from the high-pressure zone may be directed toward the thermal expansion valve by a nozzle. The air increases the temperature of the thermal expansion valve and allows additional refrigerant to flow through the thermal expansion valve.

Abstract: Apparatus for removing suspended impurities from a liquid (e.g., wastewater), methods of use, and systems including such apparatus. In an embodiment, an apparatus may include a vessel defining a chamber for receiving gas induced liquid influent through an inlet, the influent including suspended impurities. A riser tube may be provided within the vessel, in fluid communication with the inlet so that liquid influent introduced into the vessel through the inlet is introduced into the riser tube. One or more coalescing members may be disposed within the riser tube. The coalescing members may be sufficiently small to be easily removable by hand, without requiring a crane. The coalescing members may be freely disposed within the riser tube, rotatable within the flow of the liquid influent, aiding the coalescing members in exhibiting some degree of “self-cleaning”, so as to be less prone to fouling and clogging.

Each column stair of the group of N column stairs has a respective step in a first vertical plane which extends in the bit line direction, and the respective steps in the first vertical plane decrease and then increase from one end column stair to another end column stair.
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and systems for virtually calibrating geometric sensors with overlapping fields of view. In some embodiments, a geometric sensor may be virtually calibrated by applying a correction value to profile data obtained by the geometric sensor to generate adjusted profile data. The correction factor may be determined based at least in part on X-Y offsets and/or rotational offsets of prior profile data obtained by the geometric sensor relative to corresponding profile data obtained by a reference geometric sensor, and may be recalculated or updated as new sets of profile data are obtained. The adjusted profile data may be used in place of the original profile data in various data processing operations to functionally offset a positional error of the geometric sensor.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a trim arrangement for a ball valve. The trim arrangement includes a first seat assembly having a first seat, a threaded collar, and a biasing element. The first seat is in contact with a first side of a ball element, and the threaded collar is threadably coupled to the first seat and in engagement with the biasing element. The trim arrangement further includes a second seat assembly having a second seat in contact with a second side of the ball element. The biasing element biases the first seat toward the first side of the ball element to provide a contact stress between the first seat and the first side of the ball element and the second seat and the second side of the ball element. The contact stress provided by the biasing element is adjustable by rotating the first seat.
