Abstract: A technique includes comparing a first sequence of tasks of a first data processing pipeline of a plurality of data processing pipelines for a data streaming system to a second data processing pipeline of the plurality of data processing pipelines. The technique includes, based on the comparing, combining the first data processing pipeline and the second data processing pipeline into a single data processing pipeline.

Abstract: Eyewear having monitoring capability, such as for radiation, is disclosed. Radiation, such as ultraviolet (UV) radiation, infrared (IR) radiation or light, can be measured by a detector. The measured radiation can then be used in providing radiation-related information to a user of the eyewear. Advantageously, the user of the eyewear is able to easily monitor their exposure to radiation.

Abstract: Systems and methods of correlating an online content interaction with an offline content interaction are provided. A data processing system can identify an online conversion by a first computing device of a content item associated with a content provider, provide an online conversion identifier to an offline conversion identification unit, receive from the offline conversion identification unit detection data indicating that the offline conversion identification unit has detected the online conversion identifier on one of the first computing device and a second computing device, and provide the detection data to a content provider computing device associated with the content provider.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods, systems, and processes to adjust replication operations in a distributed environment. A set of replicated data is received from a first appliance as a result of a replication operation. The replication operation is initiated by the first appliance and the set of replicated data includes a first timestamp. A write operation is performed to store the set of replicated data and a second timestamp is recorded. Recovery point information is generated based on the first timestamp and the second timestamp. The recovery point information is configured to be utilized in adjusting replication parameters of a subsequent replication operation.

Abstract: The disclosure provides apparatus and methods of use pertaining to a prosthetic finger assembly. In one embodiment, the assembly includes a coupling tip and a distal ring coupled with the coupling tip. The assembly further includes a proximal ring coupled with the distal ring. A rocker formed in an H-shape with a first end forming a first split prong and a second end forming a second split prong may extend between the coupling tip and the proximal ring. The coupling tip, distal ring, proximal ring, and H-shaped rocker may all be hingedly connected such that movements of the residual finger within the proximal ring articulate the distal ring together with the rocker to articulate the coupling tip. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: Social relationships are detected between a plurality of users. A set of user activity logs is input, where these logs originate from one or more network services and cover a prescribed period of time. Each of the logs originates from a particular one of the services and includes a structured data stream that records each interaction that each of one or more of the users has with the particular one of the services. This structured data stream includes a timestamp specifying when this interaction occurred, and a public network identifier specifying a network address from which this interaction occurred. The set of user activity logs is then analyzed to detect a prescribed kind of social relationship between the users. A data structure is then generated that identifies the users between whom the prescribed kind of social relationship is detected, and the data structure is output.

Abstract: A passive bias temperature compensation module for silicon photomultiplier, avalanche photodiodes and similar photodetectors that possess a moderately linear temperature coefficient of gain and that may be compensated by varying an applied bias voltage. The module includes an electrical circuit and a method for determining component values to provide a constant voltage source to stabilize the gain of one or more photodetector devices. A temperature sensor in the module is held in close thermal contact with the photodetector and a filter capacitor is electrically close to the photodetector. The module is based on the concept of temperature sensitive voltage division which is applicable to situations in which large numbers of photodetectors must be gain-compensated for temperature variations over a wide range while maintaining excellent gain matching. The passive bias temperature compensation method enables multiple photodetectors to share a single constant voltage supply without loss of matching performance.

The application can also be configured to interact with a sender of SMS, MMS, or IM messages.

Abstract: Broadcasts over designated bands of the radiofrequency spectrum allow for flexible use of the spectrum as well as for the receipt of return signals from receivers. To obtain return signals, information indicating one or more return channels and/or one or more return time windows may be sent with the broadcast transmission. The broadcast transmission may be made over UHF bands, with the return signals being made over VHF bands. Spectrum may be utilized more efficiently by transmitting one or more beacon signals that define parameters for the broadcast transmission. Receivers may be adapted to decode the data of the beacon signals and rapidly tune to the broadcast transmission.

Abstract: Reductions in churn for assigning identifiers to entities in a knowledge graph enables several improvements to the functionality of the computing devices maintaining or accessing knowledge graphs. As the aliases or other terms used to identify a given entity change in response to updates to the knowledge graph, the identifiers assigned to various entities may change. For example, two individual entities conflated as one node may be split into two or two nodes merged into one in response to an update, and existing identifiers should be used to reduce churn. To select the existing identifiers to assign to a given updated entity, the aliases are clustered with the updated entities and the unique modal prior identifier is assigned as the identifier for the updated entity. Higher orders of modality are used to ensure as many existing identifiers are used before creating new identifiers.
