Abstract: This document generally describes warehousing systems that can, in certain instances, improve the efficiency of warehousing operations and improve utilization of available space in a warehousing facility. The warehousing system may be implemented in an automated warehouse, such as an automated cold-storage facility, that uses programmable equipment to automate tasks associated with warehousing operations, such as transporting inbound storage items to specified storage positions of storage racks in the warehouse and removing outbound storage items from storage so that they may be loaded onto trucks for delivery away from the warehouse.

Abstract: In some embodiments, techniques for creating a design for a physical device are provided. A computing system receives an initial design of the physical device. Performance of the physical device is simulated using the initial design. A performance loss value is determined for the physical device based on the simulated performance at a target wavelength and one or more delta wavelengths. The performance loss value is backpropagated to determine a gradient corresponding to an influence of changes in the initial design on the total performance loss value. The initial design of the physical device is revised based at least in part on the gradient.

Abstract: When a temporally compressed video stream is decoded and subsequently re-encoded, quality is typically lost. The quality loss may be mitigated using information about how the source video stream was encoded during the re-encoding process. According to some aspects of the disclosure, this mitigation of quality loss can be facilitated by decoders that output such information and encoders that receive such information. These decoders and encoders may be separate devices. The functionality of these decoders and encoders may also be combined in a single device, such as a transcoding device. An example of the information that may be used during re-encoding is whether each portion of the original stream was intra-coded or non-intra-coded.
Abstract: Techniques are described herein that are capable of creating a language-agnostic computer program repair engine generator. A context-free grammar is annotated to identify token(s) that are likely to be included in or excluded from a computer program in a manner that violates the context-free grammar. A language-agnostic computer program repair engine generator is created that is configured to generate a parser. The repair engine generator is configured to create a repair engine that: converts the candidate string into repaired strings that neither violate the context-free grammar nor violate a criterion for a valid computer program; calculates differences between the candidate string and the respective repaired strings; and replaces the candidate string with a designated repaired string based at least in part on the difference between the designated repaired string and the candidate string being less than or equal to a difference threshold.

Abstract: A backing plate for a brake pad that helps improve attachment of the friction pad. The backing plate has a multi-layered structure including a locking plate and a reinforcement plate. Locking holes or locking rings in the locking plate create an undercut portion at mold holes in the reinforcement plate to help mechanically lock the friction material of the brake pad. In some embodiments, retention holes and/or locking rails can be provided to help further retain the friction pad by increasing the available surface area for bonding. Additionally, the retention holes and/or locking rails can help decrease the weight of the backing plate by minimizing the overall size of the locking plate.
