Abstract: A head top has a frame for mounting on a user's head. The frame has a viewing opening for a user to see out of the frame. A shield is mounted to the frame, and can be moved between a open and closed positions. A pivot arm connects the shield to the frame and is mounted to the inside of both the frame and shield to avoid exposure. An outer mount and inner mount can also be provided to automatically adjust the width of the head top. A hinge connects them allowing the inner mount to laterally pivot with respect to the outer mount to accommodate users with different head sizes. A forehead member also adjusts to a user's forehead.

Abstract: A system and method for making categorized music tracks available to end user applications. The tracks may be categorized based on computer-derived rhythm, texture and pitch (RTP) scores for tracks derived from high-level acoustic attributes, which is based on low level data extracted from the tracks. RTP scores are stored in a universal database common to all of the music publishers so that the same track, once RTP scored, does not need to be re-RTP scored by other music publishers. End user applications access an API server to import collections of tracks published by publishers, to create playlists and initiate music streaming. Each end user application is sponsored by a single music publisher so that only tracks capable of being streamed by the music publisher are available to the sponsored end user application.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for displaying a thumbnail preview of video content. In an aspect, one or more mosaic images made up of thumbnails corresponding to frames of the video content at multiple time points can be loaded into the system or created by the methods described. In an aspect, the selected thumbnail, as well as any other thumbnails, can be selected in response to receiving a command (e.g., trick play request) from the viewer. The command can dictate the direction from the selected thumbnail that the next thumbnails will be selected. The command can also dictate the frequency with which thumbnails will be selected from the mosaic image. In an aspect, frames comprised of thumbnails can be encoded to create the video content.

Abstract: A clamp device for being secured to a bar includes an outer sleeve having an inner surface defining an annular recess and an inner sleeve received by the outer sleeve having a channel that extends between an inner and outer surface of the inner sleeve. A resilient ring and a rigid ring are disposed within the channel of the inner sleeve. The outer sleeve is axially movable relative to the inner sleeve between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the annular recess is axially aligned with the channel and the rigid member is disposed in the annular recess. In the second position, the annular recess is axially displaced from the channel such that the outer sleeve displaces the rigid member and the resilient ring axially away from the outer sleeve thereby compressing the clamp device to the bar received by the inner sleeve.

Abstract: A test apparatus for simulating road conditions for a motor vehicle. The test apparatus includes a platform, a pair of roller assemblies, and a driveshaft. The pair of roller assemblies are coupled to the platform. Each pair of roller assemblies being configured to receive a pair of wheels of the motor vehicle. The driveshaft is secured between the pair of roller assemblies and is configured to transmit rotary power from one of the pair of roller assemblies to the other of the pair of roller assemblies. An orientation of the platform is adjustable.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for presenting notifications indicating recommended content are provided. A notification of recommended content can be provided. An indication that a user device has initiated a casting session with a display device can be received. A request for recommended content to be presented on the display device can be received. A media content item can be identified based on at least one media content item that has been previously selected by a user account associated with the user device. A notification can be generated that includes an indication of the identified media content item and a selectable input that, when selected, causes the identified media content item to begin being presented on the display device.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatus where information relating to products and services offered by various providers may be offered for sale to customers via computing devices owned by those customers. Products and services offered to a particular customer may be related to a product previously purchased by that customer or be related to a product that a customer has access to. In certain instances, a product that a customer has access to may include a tag, such as a circuit, a chip, or printed matter that may provide information to an electronic device of a customer. After the customer's device received the information provided by the product tag, other products or services related to the tagged product may be received by the customer device.

Abstract: A system includes a processor and a memory including instructions that are executable for causing the processor to perform operations. The operations include accessing a new component value and a set of inner heaps. Each inner heap of the set of inner heaps includes a sorted set of components originating from a plurality of component sources. The operations further include assigning the new component value to a first inner heap of the set of inner heaps. In response to assigning the new component value to the first inner heap, the operations include sorting the first inner heap to identify a maximum or minimum value of the first inner heap. In response to determining that the new component value changes the maximum or minimum value of the first inner heap, the operations include updating an outer heap to include a reference to the new component value of the first inner heap.

Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting and mitigating fraud include a processor for performing steps including receiving a digital image of a receipt and utilizing an optical character recognition model to encode a digital representation of transaction information from the receipt. The processor extracts a payee feature, an amount feature, and a payment date feature from the transaction data, and generating a receipt feature vector from the payee feature, the amount feature and the payment date feature. The processor receives historical transaction data representing historical transactions, generates a transaction feature vector for each historical transaction and then utilizes a machine learning model to predict a matching transaction from the transaction history that matches the receipt based on the receipt feature vector and each of the transaction feature vectors to determine a difference between the payment amount of the receipt and the payment authorization of the matching transaction.

Abstract: A favorable merging or grouping of simply connected regions into which the array of information samples is sub-divided, is coded with a reduced amount of data. To this end, a predetermined relative locational relationship is defined enabling an identifying, for a predetermined simply connected region, of simply connected regions within the plurality of simply connected regions which have the predetermined relative locational relationship to the predetermined simply connected region. Namely, if the number is zero, a merge indicator for the predetermined simply connected region may be absent within the data stream. In other embodiments, spatial sub-division is performed depending on a first subset of syntax elements, followed by combining spatially neighboring simply connected regions depending on a second subset of syntax elements, to obtain an intermediate sub-division.

Abstract: A shelter system is shown and described. A hub for a shelter system is shown and described. A frame for a shelter system is shown and described. In one embodiment, the shelter system includes a frame, a cover and a hub. The frame may be collapsible. The cover is configured to fit with the frame. The hub may include a receiver slot, a receiver sleeve and an attachment projection. The result is a shelter system with reduced set up time, effort and requirements and improved strength and ease of use. The inventions may also be considered a shelter kit and/or a shelter and hub method.

Abstract: A modular pyrotechnic launch unit includes a launch module, a first module, and a second module. The launch module includes a launch barrel. The first module is coupled in series to the launch module. The first module includes a first ignition state in which the first module ignites a pyrotechnic element that will then pass through the launch barrel. The first module also includes a first pass-through state in which the first module allows a pyrotechnic element ignited by another module to pass through the first module. The second module is coupled in series to the first module. The second module includes a second ignition state in which the second module ignites a pyrotechnic element that will then pass through the first module and through the launch barrel.

Abstract: A base system for a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a frame configured to support a housing of the HVAC system, where the frame includes a base rail configured to define a portion of a perimeter of the frame. The base rail includes a base segment configured to be disposed on a curb in an installed configuration of the HVAC system, an external wall extending from the base segment, a top segment extending from the external wall, an internal wall extending from the top segment, and a recessed flange extending from the internal wall and away from the external wall.

Abstract: Techniques and tools for encoding enhancement layer video with quantization that varies spatially and/or between color channels are presented, along with corresponding decoding techniques and tools. For example, an encoding tool determines whether quantization varies spatially over a picture, and the tool also determines whether quantization varies between color channels in the picture. The tool signals quantization parameters for macroblocks in the picture in an encoded bit stream. In some implementations, to signal the quantization parameters, the tool predicts the quantization parameters, and the quantization parameters are signaled with reference to the predicted quantization parameters. A decoding tool receives the encoded bit stream, predicts the quantization parameters, and uses the signaled information to determine the quantization parameters for the macroblocks of the enhancement layer video. The decoding tool performs inverse quantization that can vary spatially and/or between color channels.

Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for multichannel audio speech classification. In examples, an audio signal comprising multiple audio channels is received at a processing device. Each of the audio channels in the audio signal is transcoded to a predefined audio format. For each of the transcoded audio channels, an average power value is calculated for one or more data windows in the audio signal. A correlation value is calculated between the average power value for each audio channel and the combined average power value of the other audio channels in the audio signal. Each of the correlation values (or an aggregated correlation value for the audio channels) is then compared against a threshold value to determine whether the audio signal is to be classified as a speech-based communication. Based on the classification, an action associated with the audio signal may be performed.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems, methods, and computer-readable storage devices for enabling user management and control of responses of a virtual assistant for use in responding to questions related to multi-dwelling units without requiring reprogramming of the virtual assistant. To illustrate, a question to be answered by a virtual assistant may be received, and one or more responses to the question may be retrieved from a response database for the virtual assistant. A user interface (UI) may be provided that indicates the one or more responses. A user-selected response may be received via the UI, the user-selected response including a selected response from the one or more responses or a user-created response. An entry in the response database may be updated based on the user-selected response and a priority associated with the entry may be set, such as by increasing the priority based on user selection of the response.

Abstract: Network devices that are inserted inline into network links and process in-transit packets may significantly improve their packet-throughput performance by not assigning L3 IP addresses and L2 MAC addresses to their network interfaces and thereby process packets through a logical fast path that bypasses the slow path through the operating system kernel. When virtualizing such Bump-In-The-Wire (BITW) devices for deployment into clouds, the network interfaces must have L3 IP and L2 MAC addresses assigned to them. Thus, packets are processed through the slow path of a virtual BITW device, significantly reducing the performance. By adding new logic to the virtual BITW device and/or configuring proxies, addresses, subnets, and/or routing tables, a virtual BITW device can process packets through the fast path and potentially improve performance accordingly. For example, the virtual BITW device may be configured to enforce a virtual path (comprising the fast path) through the virtual BITW device.

Abstract: Provided herein are systems, devices, articles of manufacture, and methods for generating neutrons employing a high energy ion beam target (HEM target) and a target backing configured to be in contact with the bottom surface of the HEIB target (e.g., to generate an ion beam target assembly). In certain embodiments, the HEM target has a thickness that is less than the penetration depth of protons or deuterons in the high energy ion beam that strikes the target. In certain embodiments, the target backing comprises a high hydrogen diffusion metal (e.g., palladium), has open spaces dispersed throughout for reduced proton diffusion distances, and has a shape and thickness such that all, or virtually all, of the protons or deuterons that pass through the HEIB target are stopped. Also provided herein are systems, devices, and methods for changing targets in an ion beam accelerator system.

Abstract: An integrated system comprising a barrier, such as a weir with movable gates, controllably blocks water flow in a natural or concrete lined channel. Without substantially impeding flow in normal conditions, the barrier is configured to back up flood waters to spill into an upstream prepared detention basin. Water is thus kept from downstream areas until subsequently drained through a controlled spill. Multiple units installed in a watershed can store significant amounts of flood water, e.g., during a hurricane, protecting life and property downstream. The electromechanically-operated gates can be operated locally or from a remote control center. Gauges and sensors positioned near the weir and/or throughout the watershed can provide data used to control one or more barriers in the watershed, and the data may be used to train a machine learning model to control the system.
