    Abstract: An image selector selects images for visual similarity in some aspects and visual distinction in other aspects. A user submits a query to a search engine. Images identified by the search engine as relevant to the query are clustered into clusters having at least one similar attribute. Selection mechanisms organize images selected from each cluster based on a similarity metric into image rows. A selection metric is calculated for each image row and a row to be displayed is selected based on the selection metric. In some embodiments, images representative of a subset of image rows are displayed to a user and responsive to selection of a representative image, the corresponding image row is displayed.

    Abstract: In order to inhibit memory cells from programming and mitigate program disturb, the memory pre-charges channels of NAND strings connected to a common set of control lines by applying positive voltages to the control lines and applying voltages to a source line and bit lines connected to the NAND strings. The control lines include word lines and select lines. The word lines include an edge word line. The memory ramps down the positive voltages applied to the control lines, including ramping down control lines on a first side of the edge word line, ramping down the edge word line, and performing a staggered ramp down of three or more control lines on a second side of the edge word line. After the pre-charging, unselected NAND strings have their channel boosted to prevent programming and selected NAND strings experience programming on selected memory cells.

    Abstract: Production of fuels from low carbon electricity and from carbon dioxide by the use of a solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) and Fischer-Tropsch is shown. Fischer-Tropsch is an exothermic reaction that can be used to produce steam. Steam produced from the Liquid Fuel Production (LFP) reactor system, where the Fischer-Tropsch reaction occurs, is used as feed to the SOEC. The higher temperature steam improves the efficiency of the overall electrolysis system. The integration of the LFP steam improves the efficiency of the electrolysis because the heat of vaporization for the liquid water does not have to be supplied by the electrolyzer.

    Abstract: The technology involves pullover maneuvers for vehicles operating in an autonomous driving mode. A vehicle operating in an autonomous driving mode is able to identify parking locations that may be occluded or otherwise not readily visible. A best case estimation for any potential parking locations, including partially or fully occluded areas, is compared against predictions for identified visible parking locations. This can include calculating a cost for each potential parking location and comparing that cost to a baseline cost. Upon determining that an occluded location would provide a more viable option than any visible parking locations, the vehicle is able to initiate a driving adjustment (e.g., slow down) prior to arriving at the occluded location. This enables the vehicle to minimize passenger discomfort while also providing notice to other road users of an intent to pull over.
