Abstract: Methods and systems for cache optimization are described. Content items served to client devices of a content distribution network may be associated with a cache value. The cache value for a content item may cause a cache device to cache the content item for a period of time. The cache value for the content item may be updated based on increasing or decreasing popularity. The content item may be encoded at a plurality of bitrates, and cache values may vary across the plurality of bitrates such that multiple copies of the content item may each be cached for varying periods of time depending on a corresponding bitrate.

Abstract: Various embodiments comprise systems, methods, architectures, mechanisms and apparatus for managing user equipment (UE) communications in a converged network by causing such UE to automatically select a “best” wireless network (cellular RAN/WiFi) without any user notification/interaction to the user of the UE, such as via the device user interface (UI). The best wireless network may be determined using contemporaneous QoS related measurements, or predicted QoS measurements such as provided by a RAN node or channel QoS model generated via machine learning techniques, which may also be used to determine a type of QoS needed for each application or service commonly invoked at the UE so as to automatically provide the best possible user experience without any user intervention.

Abstract: Systems and methods which provide for bidirectional data parity in a multi-service connected environment using a canonicalization and order connection data structure are described. Bidirectional data parity logic using a canonicalization and order connection data structure with respect to a plurality of systems of a multi-service connected environment may provide for the state of a particular order and/or other data for that order being accurately reflected in each such system for which corresponding record is maintained. Using a canonicalization database and an order connection database, bidirectional data parity logic may recognize all records for a particular instance of an order as being for that order, and thus provide data parity for that order throughout all systems having a record for that order instance.

Abstract: A neural phantom device configured and arranged to produce a magnetic field to simulate a neural signal. The neural phantom device includes a driver having a signal source configured to produce a simulated neural signal, and either i) a carrier wave source configured to produce a carrier wave having a frequency of at least 250 Hz or ii) an optical carrier wave source configured to produce an optical carrier wave, wherein the driver is configured to modulate the simulated neural signal using the carrier wave or optical carrier wave to generate a modulated signal. The neural phantom device also includes a phantom configured to receive the modulated signal, demodulate the modulated signal to recover the simulated neural signal, and generate the magnetic field in response to the simulated neural signal.

Abstract: Antimicrobial polymer coating formulations are prepared that protect biological surfaces by treating, reducing, ameliorating, preventing or inhibiting pathogenic microorganism ingress to a human or animal host, reducing the potential for infection, particularly by necrotizing fasciitis originating microorganisms, through use of a polymer coating barrier containing antimicrobial agents that facilitates sustained release of biocidal agents active against such opportunistic microorganisms. Such formulations are effective for inhibiting microbial ingress pertaining to soft tissue and skin tears, abrasions, punctures and surgical wounds, and can be used as in water environments and as a skin protectant sunscreen and insect repellent.

Abstract: The present technology relates to methods for excluding Lynch syndrome as a possible diagnosis in patients suffering from colorectal cancers or endometrial cancers. These methods are based on detecting the methylation status of the MLH1 promoter ‘C’ region in colorectal and endometrial cancer patients using an improved and highly sensitive methylation-specific multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MS-MLPA) assay.
Abstract: Bone deformity correction devices and methods of using such devices to correct bone deformities. The device can include an elongate body, an adjustable manipulation arm movably coupled to the elongate body, wherein the adjustable manipulation arm is configured to move axially and laterally, and a cutting guide removably attachable to the device elongate body.

Abstract: In biometric ticketing, physical token-less ticketing system using biometrics, a person may be identified using a digital representation of a biometric. Ticketing information may be ascertained based on the identification. The ticketing information may be provided, actions may be performed using the ticketing information, and so on. In some implementations, a checkpoint device receives biometric data from a person. A digital representation of the biometric data is used to obtain an identifier from an identification system. The digital representation of the biometric data may not be included in the identifier. The identifier is used by to obtain ticketing information from a ticketing system. The person may be allowed or denied entry into a ticketed area based on the ticketing information.

Abstract: A system for presenting audio content to a user. The system comprises one or more microphones coupled to a frame of a headset. The one or more microphones capture sound from a local area. The system further comprises an audio controller integrated into the headset and communicatively coupled to an in-ear device worn by a user. The audio controller identifies one or more sound sources in the local area based on the captured sound. The audio controller further determines a target sound source of the one or more sound sources and determines one or more filters to apply to a sound signal associated with the target sound source in the captured sound. The audio controller further generates an augmented sound signal by applying the one or more filters to the sound signal and provides the augmented sound signal to the in-ear device for presentation to a user.

Abstract: An authentication and payment system for paying a supplier via a network may include a non-transitory computer readable storage medium having program logic stored thereon having a code for an authentication and payment application executable by a processor of a computing device. The code may be programmed to perform a step of receiving a first set of specific data elements from a payer regarding an authorized purchase by the payer from the supplier. The code may be further programmed to receive a second set of specific data elements from the supplier. If the first set of specific data elements matches at least a portion of second set of specific data elements, the code may be programmed to generate and send a single-use number to the supplier. The single-use number may be usable as a credit card number for only one purchase.
