Abstract: A seat post assembly for a bicycle has a first tube with a first distal end and a second tube with a second distal end. The first and second tubes are movable relative to one another to establish a distance between the first and second distal ends. A first pressure chamber has a loaded pressure proportional to a load applied along the tube axis. A second pressure chamber has a second pressure not proportional to the load. A flow path connects the first and second pressure chambers. A valve is disposed along the flow path and is configured to move between a closed position closing the flow path and an open position opening the flow path between the first and second pressure chambers. An isolator of the valve is configured to nullify any resultant force produced by the loaded pressure of the first pressure chamber acting on the isolator.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed herein for authenticating a user. A security device may use an object associated with a user and a device of the user to authenticate the user, for example, if the user has forgotten a password. A user may insert the object (e.g., a card, or other object) into the security device and may select an option to authenticate via a device that is trusted by both the security device and the user, rather than authenticating by entering a password at the security device.

Abstract: A housing can include at least one roof panel movably attached to and resting on roof support beams, and movable from a closed position to an open position along the roof support beams to create an opening at a top of the housing. The at least one roof panel can be hinged to a side wall panel that is at rest against vertical support beams when the roof panel is in a closed position. The at least one roof panel and side wall panel can move together as the top panel moves along the roof support beams to create the opening at the top of the housing. A side opening can also be created at a side of the housing associated with the side wall panel when the side panel moves away from the vertical support beams. A lift in the housing can be moved vertically towards the roof opening.

Abstract: A high torque mechanism connected to a piston arranged within a cylinder and connected to a connecting rod for an engine may include features of a triangular link and a guide arm. The high torque mechanism may provide an upgrade to the conventional hardware with new elements that provide higher torque and thus allowing a reduction of fuel consumption versus a conventional engine of the same power. The high torque mechanism may include a triangular link, a crankshaft, and a guide arm. The connecting rod may be connected to the piston and a first joint on the triangular link. The guide arm may be connected to a second joint on the triangular link and a guide pivot point. The crankshaft may be connected to a third joint on the triangular link and a crank pivot point. The triangular link and the guide arm make the engine torque considerably higher in various crank ranges where the in-cylinder combustion pressure is high.

Abstract: This document describes systems and techniques directed at compensating for non-uniform luminance in curved-edge displays. In aspects, a computing device having a curved-edge display and a luminance manager is configured to receive an indication of a luminance that is, or is intended to be, displayed by pixels of the curved-edge display. Responsive to and based on the received indication of the luminance and a non-uniform luminance, the luminance manager determines a luminance modification for the pixels of the curved-edge display. Based on the determined luminance modification, the luminance manager modifies the luminance that is displayed or modifies the intended luminance that is intended to be displayed by pixels of the curved-edge display effective to compensate for the non-uniform luminance.

Abstract: An orthopaedic fixation assembly for prosthetic biologic attachment. The orthopaedic fixation assembly may include a main body with a longitudinally-extending stem having a proximal end, a distal end, and a cavity body. An anchor plug may be configured to be received within the stem cavity, and securable thereto via complementary mating surfaces. A spindle structure may be fixedly attached to the proximal end of the longitudinally-extending stem and protrude outwardly therefrom such that a portion of the structure extends externally beyond the resected cavity of the bone that may prevent rotational motion of the spindle. The spindle structure may have at least one compliant biasing member configured to apply a compressive force to the surrounding bone. A porous coating may be at the juncture between stem and spindle structure, on the spindle, and the splines and anti-rotation chocks, improving the initial stability of the implant and facilitating long-term bone ingrowth.

The blends have ultra-low GWP, low toxicity, and low flammability with low temperature glide or nearly negligible glide for use in a hybrid, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or full electric vehicles for thermal management (transferring heat from one part of the vehicle to the other) of the passenger compartment providing air conditioning (A/C) or heating to the passenger cabin.

Abstract: A system is described herein. The system includes at least a computing device and an occupation device. The computing device includes an engine and a graphical user interface (GUI). The occupation deice is affixed to a car seat in a vehicle. The occupation device is configured to determine a presence or an absence of a child in the car seat. Specifically, the occupation device includes electrical components and a laser component comprising at least a laser beam that exits a body component of the occupation device at a location. When the laser beam is uninterrupted, the electrical components are configured to transmit a first alert to the engine of the computing device for display to a user via the GUI. When the laser beam is interrupted, the electrical components are configured to transmit a second alert to the engine of the computing device for display to the user via the GUI.

Abstract: A security platform of a data network is provided that includes security services for computing devices in communication with the data network. The security platform may apply a security policy to the computing devices when accessing the Internet via a home network (or other customer network) and when accessing the Internet via a public or third party network. To provide security services to computing devices via the home network, the security platform may communicate with a security agent application executed on the router (or other gateway device) of the home network. In addition, each of the devices identified by the security profile for the home network may be instructed or otherwise be provided a security agent application for execution on the computing devices. The security agent application may communicate with the security platform when the computing device connects to the Internet over a third party or public access point.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to carbon nanotube based desalination membranes and methods of manufacturing thereof. The carbon nanotube based desalination membranes may be manufactured by: providing a polymer matrix; providing carbon nanotubes directly contacting the polymer matrix; stirring the carbon nanotubes into the polymer matrix in order to make a carbon nanotube composite solution; and coating a substrate with the carbon nanotube composite solution to form a carbon nanotube desalination membrane. The carbon nanotube based desalination membranes may provide superior flow rate and high levels of salt rejection.
