Abstract: A cloud-based healthcare diagnostic and treatment platform capable of making non-invasive healthcare diagnostics and treatment recommendations based on data captured from combinations of physical activity and mental activity. In an embodiment, the system and method comprise a healthcare diagnostics and treatment module comprising a HIPPA-compliant security gateway, an AI-assisted healthcare diagnostics module, and an alert and treatments module. The HIPPA-compliant security gateway separates out health-related data from streams of data which may include other data such as game data, provides the health-related data to the AI-assisted healthcare diagnostics module which performs diagnoses of the health-related data using machine learning algorithms, and provides the diagnoses to the alert and treatments module which generates alerts and treatments based on the diagnoses.
Abstract: A vehicle management system can include self-driving vehicles. Before entering a self-driving vehicle, a rider can use a remote computing device to select a pick-up location at which a self-driving vehicle will later pick up the rider. Detecting that the remote computing device is unable to communicate with the vehicle management system can trigger several responses configured to minimize the risk of a self-driving vehicle failing to pick up the rider.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media (transitory and non-transitory) are provided herein for automated bidding on auctioned online content. In various embodiments, a bidder process operating on a bidder management computing system may determine an IP address associated with an impression to be populated with consumable content. The impression may be solicited by a content auction computing system. The bidder process may retrieve, e.g., from volatile memory local to the bidder process management computing system, bidding guidelines associated with the IP address. The bidder process may determine, based on the retrieved bidding guidelines, a bid for a particular consumable content item to populate the solicited impression. The bidder process may then submit the bid to the content auction computing system.

Abstract: The visualization of progress of a distributed computational job at multiple points of execution. After a computational job is compiled into multiple vertices, and then those multiple vertices are scheduled on multiple processing nodes in a distributed environment, a processing gathering module gathers processing information regarding processing of multiple vertices of a computational job, and at multiple instances in time in the execution of the computational job. A user interface module graphically presents a representation of an execution structure representing multiple nodes of the computational job, and dependencies between the multiple nodes, where the nodes may be a single vertex or a group of vertices (such as a stage).

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods by which lead from spent lead-acid batteries may be extracted, purified, and used in the construction of new lead-acid batteries. A method includes: (A) forming a mixture including a carboxylate source and a lead-bearing material; (B) generating a first lead salt precipitate in the mixture as the carboxylate source reacts with the lead-bearing material; (C) increasing the pH of the mixture to dissolve the first lead salt precipitate; (D) isolating a liquid component of the mixture from one or more insoluble components of the mixture; (E) decreasing the pH of the liquid component of the mixture to generate a second lead salt precipitate; and (F) isolating the second lead salt precipitate from the liquid component of the mixture. Thereafter, the isolated lead salt precipitate may be converted to leady oxide for use in the manufacture of new lead-acid batteries.
Abstract: A system for sterilizing viruses includes beam generation circuitry for generating a radiating wave having radiating energy therein at a predetermined frequency therein. A controller controls the radiating wave generation at the predetermined frequency. The predetermined frequency equals a resonance frequency of a particular virus. The predetermined frequency induces a mechanical resonance vibration at the resonance frequency of the particular virus within the particular virus for destroying a capsid of the particular virus. Radiating circuitry projects the radiating wave on a predetermined location to destroy the particular virus at the predetermined location.
Abstract: An electric machine having an electrically insulative manifold is disclosed. In one example aspect, an electric machine includes a non-electrically conductive manifold. The manifold defines a chamber operable to receive a cooling fluid. The electric machine includes a prime winding in fluid communication with the chamber and one or more secondary windings in electrical communication with the prime winding and in fluid communication with the chamber. Further, the electric machine includes an electric machine terminal extending through the non-electrically conductive manifold and coupled with the prime winding. The electric machine terminal can provide or collect cooling fluid from the chamber of the manifold and can act as the electrical connection point for directing electrical power to or from the windings of the electric machine.

Abstract: “Just in time” operational techniques allow equipment of swimming pools or spas to achieve identified water temperatures at specified times. A user may supply information such as a desired water temperature (i.e. a temperature set point) and a time at which the water is desired to be at the desired temperature. After receiving the user-supplied information, software may account as well for certain environmental conditions to devise a suitable schedule for controlling heating of the water of the swimming pool or spa. Adjustments may be made to the schedule based on then-current water temperatures or other changed conditions.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a method receives a request from a client device. The request includes location information for an update to a media presentation description for a media presentation. The method uses the location information to determine that the client device has not received a first segment based on the location information. The media presentation description is currently sending updates for a second segment. The location information is used to identify that the update to the media presentation description should include the first segment and the second segment. The method sends an instance of the media presentation description that includes update information for the first segment and the second segment to update a stored version of the media presentation description for the client device.
Abstract: A method for determining the refractive index profile of a preform when the RIP is not substantially step-index like. (a) The preform deflection function is measured and transformed into a measured RIP. (b) A RI level and radius are assumed for the preform layer being evaluated and a compensation level RIP is calculated. (c) A theoretical deflection function is generated corresponding to the assumed RI level and radius and the generated data are transformed into a fitting RIP. (d) The fitting RIP is compared to the measured RIP and the comparison is evaluated against a predetermined accuracy level for the preform layer being evaluated. (e) Steps (b) and (c) are repeated iteratively until the predetermined accuracy level has been achieved. Steps (b) through (e) are repeated for each preform layer that needs to be compensated. Finally, a measurement artifact compensated refractive index profile is calculated for the preform.
