  • Patent number: 12299915
Abstract: A method of X-ray digital image correlation is provided. The method comprises aligning cameras of an X-ray imaging system, wherein the X-ray imaging system comprises two X-ray sources pointed at a target area at a stereo angle and two corresponding X-ray detectors behind the target area. The X-ray imaging system is tuned to determine power levels of the X-ray sources that maximize image contrast and signal-to-noise ratio. The system is calibrated to determine intrinsic and extrinsic stereoscopic imaging parameters. A specimen with a random contrast pattern comprising an X-ray attenuating material is placed in the target area. Stereoscopic X-ray images are taken of the specimen and processed according to the power levels of the X-ray sources to maximize image contrast and signal-to-noise ratio and remove background objects. Kinematic quantities are determined according to changes in the contrast pattern over a number of successive images.

  • Patent number: 12299918
Abstract: A method includes accessing map data of an area of a real environment, the map data comprising three-dimensional feature descriptors describing features visible in the real environment. A plurality of map packages are generated based on the map data, wherein each of the map packages (1) corresponds to a two-dimensional sub-area within the area of the real environment, and (2) comprises a subset of the three-dimensional feature descriptors describing features visible in the sub-area. A first sequence of the plurality of map packages are broadcast through one or more base stations, wherein the first sequence is based on the two-dimensional sub-area of each of the map packages, wherein each of the map packages is configured to be received and used by an artificial-reality device to determine a pose of the artificial-reality device in the associated sub-area based on the associated subset of the three-dimensional feature descriptors.

  • Patent number: 12296932
Abstract: This application describes clutch mechanisms for use in a steering control system, e.g., a steering control system used to steer a trolling motor for a boat. Such clutch mechanisms can reduce and avoid damage to the steering control system (e.g., a steering motor) when the system is subjected to unusually large impact loads (e.g., when the trolling motor or boat contacts an obstruction). The clutches described in this application can be used to decouple the steering control system from a steering shaft (or other drive mechanism) upon application of a large impact load, thus reducing damage to and increasing the lifespan of such system. In some cases, the clutch is a ball and spring mechanism. In other cases, the clutch is a slip tooth mechanism.

  • Patent number: 12301698
Abstract: In one embodiment, a set of feature vectors can be derived from any biometric data, and then using a deep neural network (“DNN”) on those one-way homomorphic encryptions (i.e., each biometrics' feature vector) can determine matches or execute searches on encrypted data. Each biometrics' feature vector can then be stored and/or used in conjunction with respective classifications, for use in subsequent comparisons without fear of compromising the original biometric data. In various embodiments, the original biometric data is discarded responsive to generating the encrypted values. In another embodiment, the homomorphic encryption enables computations and comparisons on cypher text without decryption. This improves security over conventional approaches. Searching biometrics in the clear on any system, represents a significant security vulnerability. In various examples described herein, only the one-way encrypted biometric data is available on a given device.
