Abstract: A portable respirator as described may include an inflatable bag and a respirator body. The inflatable bag may be arranged to provide air to a patient through a face mask or an endotracheal tube in response to compression/retraction actions applied to the inflatable bag. The respirator body may include a first cover portion and a second cover portion arranged to enclose moving components of the portable respirator and define a substantially circular opening for the inflatable bag to be fitted through, a motor, a pair of levers positioned on opposing sides of the substantially circular opening, and a cam mechanically coupled to the motor and arranged to move the pair of levers in response to a rotation action by the motor such that the pair of levers apply the compression/retraction actions to the inflatable bag fitted through the opening.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for video data processing. In some examples, an apparatus for video data processing includes processing circuitry. For example, the processing circuitry determines a first syntax element for coding control in a first scope of coded video data in a bitstream. The first syntax element is associated with a second coding tool that is alternative to a first coding tool for Rice parameter derivation in a residual coding. In response to the first syntax element being a first value indicative of disabling of the second coding tool in the first scope, the processing circuitry decodes the first scope of coded video data that includes one or more second scopes of coded video data without invoking the second coding tool.

Abstract: Disclosed fluid reservoirs include closure mechanisms for sealing an upper opening of the reservoir. The reservoir can have plates adjacent the upper opening. When the upper end of the reservoir is folded, the plates can be positioned on opposite sides, and a closure frame can be slid over the plates to pressure them together. The plates can have pins that engage with slots in the closure frame, and a separate closure lock can be slid over the end of the closure frame to prevent the pins from exiting the slots. The plates can also bias the opening open when the closure is not engaged. Also disclosed are flexible fluid reservoirs that include structural elements, such as baffles, that help retain a desired shape of the reservoir when filled or empty. Some baffles can be elastically deformable to allow flattening and expansion of the bladder while biasing toward a neutral position.

Abstract: A multi-stable actuator includes a first superelastic-shape memory alloy (SE-SMA) wire extending between a first fixed support and a movable element and a second SE-SMA wire extending between a second fixed support and the movable element. The first SE-SMA wire is in tension against the second SE-SMA wire and the second SE-SMA wire is in tension against the first SE-SMA wire. The multi-stable actuator also includes at least one heating device configured to heat the first SE-SMA wire independent of the second SE-SMA wire and to heat the second SE-SMA wire independent of the first SE-SMA wire such that the movable element moves between and to at least three fixed positions without use of a brake or clutch.

Abstract: The present invention provides an electronic data document (EDD) and related system and method for use in a computerized clinical trial verification system. In an exemplary embodiment, the EDD is authenticated by the creator and validated by the receiver, and comprises an image of a source document (SD) that comprises a masked record of at least one interaction between a clinical trial investigator and a patient enrolled in a clinical trial, at least one revealed portion of the SD that includes evidence relevant to at least one question in a clinical trial questionnaire, and at least one annotation connecting the revealed portion to the at least one question. The present invention provides a computerized system and method for allowing a clinical trial investigator to answer questions from a clinical trial questionnaire pertinent to a clinical trial of a medical treatment using encrypted and partially masked electronic documents comprising images of original patient records.

Abstract: A system for beverage cartridge preparation allows users to self-select, self-fill, and self-seal single use beverage cartridges for convenience. A frame assembly supports a cartridge handling system and a cartridge filling system. The cartridge filling system includes a fillable container and a portion dispensing system. The cartridge handling system includes a movement guide system moving the beverage cartridges, a sealing system for sealing the beverage cartridges after filling, and a motion system for actuating the cartridge handling system, the portion dispensing system, and the sealing system. The movement system includes mobility relative to operative members of the filling and handling systems and one or more single use beverage cartridges. Adaptive cartridge shapes and components are provided to fit a particular preparation system.

Abstract: A vehicle includes a support structure. The vehicle also includes a side door operable to move relative to the support structure between an open position and a closed position. In the open position of the side door, access to a vehicle interior of the vehicle is provided. In the closed position of the side door, the side door extends across a longitudinal centerline of the vehicle. The vehicle further includes a plurality of pivot members, each pivotably coupled to the support structure at a first end and pivotably coupled to the side door at a second end. The side door is movable between the open and closed positions via pivotal movement of each of the plurality of pivot members relative to the support structure and pivotal movement of the side door relative to each of the plurality of pivot members.

Abstract: Navigation system and method for tracking movement of a patient during surgery. Image data is acquired by imaging the patient with a base layer of a skin-based patient tracking apparatus secured to the patient's skin. The skin-based patient tracking apparatus includes a plurality of optical surgical tracking elements. A computer processor arrangement is adapted to implement a navigation routine. The patient position is registered to the image data. The movement of the patient is tracked based on movement of the plurality of optical surgical tracking elements. The movement of the patient's skin is tracked by determining positions of the optical surgical tracking elements both before and after a deformation of the skin-based patient tracking apparatus. Movement of the patient's skin results in corresponding movement of the surgical tracking elements to provide a dynamic reference frame for use in continuously tracking movement of a patient's skin during surgery.

Abstract: Implementations of a method of forming semiconductor packages may include: providing a wafer having a plurality of devices, etching one or more trenches on a first side of the wafer between each of the plurality of devices, applying a molding compound to the first side of the wafer to fill the one or more trenches; grinding a second side of the wafer to a desired thickness, and exposing the molding compound included in the one or more trenches. The method may include etching the second side of the wafer to expose a height of the molding compound forming one or more steps extending from the wafer, applying a back metallization to a second side of the wafer, and singulating the wafer at the one or more steps to form a plurality of semiconductor packages. The one or more steps may extend from a base of the back metallization.

The mirror head assembly includes a mirror connector configured to connect to a first mirror and a shell that envelops the mirror connector. A first mount is provided to connect the arm to the mirror head assembly in a first installation position, and a second mount is provided to connect the arm to the mirror head assembly in a second installation position.

Abstract: An arthroscope's insertion shaft has near its distal end a solid state camera. The shaft has an outer diameter of no more than 6 mm, and has rigidity and strength for insertion of the camera into joints for arthroscopic surgery. Light conductor(s) have a flattened region shaped to lie between an endoscope camera and an inner surface of an outer wall of an endoscope shaft. The flattened region is shaped to conduct illumination light though the space between the camera and inner surface of the other wall to a distal end of the endoscope shaft for illumination of a surgical cavity to be viewed by the camera. The flattened region is formed by heating a region of a plastic optical fiber, and squeezing the heated region in a polished mold.

Abstract: A mobile diagnostic imaging system includes a battery system and charging system. The battery system is located in the rotating portion of the imaging system, and includes one or more battery packs comprising electrochemical cells. Each battery pack includes a control circuit that controls the state of charge of each electrochemical cell, and implements a control scheme that causes the electrochemical cells to have a similar charge state. The battery system communicates with a charging system on the non-rotating portion to terminate charge when one or more of the electrochemical cells reach a full state of charge. The imaging system also includes a docking system that electrically connects the charging system to the battery system during charging and temporarily electrically disconnects the rotating and non-rotating portions during imaging, and a drive mechanism for rotating the rotating portion relative to the non-rotating portion.

Abstract: A process of using a fish plasma component in a nutrient medium for cell culture includes obtaining a fish that is a progeny of domesticated broodstock that are reared under consistent and reproducible conditions. Blood is obtained from the fish, and plasma is separated from the blood. One or more specific components of the plasma are then extracted, and cells are cultured in a nutrient medium using the one or more extracted plasma components, and none of any remainder of the plasma. The plasma and/or the plasma components is/are tested for presence and/or level of endotoxin. Extracting the one or more specific components of the plasma, and/or culturing the cells is only performed if the testing indicates an endotoxin level below a predetermined threshold. The cells cultured using the extracted one or more plasma components are other than fish cells.

Abstract: A method of installing a binder-based overlay system may include contacting a layer of geotextile fabric to a surface of a substrate and applying a primer layer to a surface of the geotextile fabric. Two or more binder layers including infill particles may be applied over the primer layer. A resurfacer layer followed by one or more color layers may be applied over the two or more binder layers. The primer layer, one or more binder layers, resurfacer layer, and two or more color layers may cure upon application to form a monolithic layer upon the substrate.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method that includes obtaining, by a processing system including a processor, video frames over a network; the processing system uses a machine learning algorithm to identify in each frame a first region comprising a natural image and a second region comprising a synthetic graphic image. The processing system separates the natural image from the synthetic graphic image to generate a natural video and a graphics video, encodes the natural video, and processes the graphics video to generate instructions for rendering graphic images at a client system. The client system performs a decoding procedure for the encoded video, a rendering procedure for client-side graphics in accordance with the instructions, and a compositing procedure to obtain a presentable video stream including the natural image and a client-side graphic corresponding to the synthetic graphic image.
