Abstract: An idea used herein is to use the same function for the dependency of the context and the dependency of the symbolization parameter on previously coded/decoded transform coefficients. Using the same function—with varying function parameter—may even be used with respect to different transform block sizes and/or frequency portions of the transform blocks in case of the transform coefficients being spatially arranged in transform blocks. A further variant of this idea is to use the same function for the dependency of a symbolization parameter on previously coded/decoded transform coefficients for different sizes of the current transform coefficient's transform block, different information component types of the current transform coefficient's transform block and/or different frequency portions the current transform coefficient is located within the transform block.

Abstract: Neighborhood monitoring is performed by configuring a cluster server within a public network to maintain a cluster directory identifying cluster members including a neighborhood of smart listening devices and user vehicles. The neighborhood includes a cluster of dwellings, and the user vehicles includes an autonomous vehicle. The surroundings of the smart listening devices and the user vehicles are monitored using sensors in the smart listening devices and the user vehicles. When an alerting event is detected with one of the sensors, a corresponding one of the smart listening devices and the user vehicles that detected the alerting event initiates a message to another cluster member based on the cluster directory. A responsive action is executed in response to the detected alerting event which includes commanding the at least one autonomous vehicle to autonomously relocate to a designated location.

Abstract: A method for evaluating the potential effectiveness of refracking a previously fracked oil/gas well is accomplished by isolating a plurality of previously fracked zones of an oil/gas well in a formation and measuring the fluid flow rates from the isolated zones using a three phase flow meter positioned within the well at or near the previously fracked zones. The zones may be isolated by an isolation assembly which includes two packers connected by a perforated pipe and attached to a tubular positioned within the well.

Abstract: Provided herein are methods and systems for improved accessibility scoring for content items. A predicted accessibility score may be based on a plurality of multimodal features present within a content item. The plurality of multimodal features may include video features (e.g., based on video/image analysis), audio features (e.g., based on audio analysis), text-based features (e.g., based on closed-captioning analysis), features indicated by metadata (e.g., duration, genre, etc.), a combination thereof, and/or the like. A predicted accessibility score for a content item may indicate how accessible the content item may be for persons who are visually impaired, hearing impaired, cognitively impaired, etc., as well as for persons who desire to view content that requires less visual attention and/or audio attention as the case may be.

Abstract: Aspects of the technology relate to providing service area maps for an autonomous vehicle transportation service having a fleet of vehicles. For instance, each vehicle of the fleet is associated with a polygon corresponding to a service area for that vehicle. A first location may be received from a client computing device, and a set of vehicles of the fleet of vehicles that are currently available to provide transportation services may be identified based on the first location. The polygons associated with each of the set of vehicles may be used to determine a first polygon having a geographic area. A first portion of map information corresponding to the geographic area of the first polygon may be identified, and the first portion may be provided to the client computing device for display to a user such that the portion represents a currently available service area for the user.

Abstract: The systems and methods disclosed herein include a LED driver, including a current output module configured to generate a constant current output split between a plurality of output channels, each output channel connected to one or more LEDs having an associated CCT value, at least one switch encoding a plurality of lumen settings and a plurality of CCT settings, and at least one circuit coupled to the current output module and the switch, the at least one circuit configured to determine a first lumen setting from the plurality of lumen settings encoded by the at least one switch, adjust the constant current output of the current output module based on the first lumen setting, determine a first CCT setting from the plurality of CCT settings encoded by the at least one switch, and adjust the plurality of output channels of the current output module based on the first CCT setting.

Abstract: Optical adaptive viewport display systems and methods are provided. One such optical adaptive viewport display system has an adaptive pupil device which is optical coupled to an optical combiner. The adaptive pupil device is optically couplable to an image projector and is configured to select a sub-pupil from the pupil of the projector. The selected sub-pupil is optically relayed by relay optics from the adaptive pupil device to an eyebox. The relay optics includes an optical combiner. The sub-pupil size and position is selected by the adaptive pupil device so that an optical image spot beam from the sub-pupil and reflected by the optical combiner on to the eye box has a diameter at the eyebox such that the virtual image, as seen by a human eye disposed at the eyebox, is hyperfocused.

Abstract: A lifestyle preferences management system is provided. The system may collect and organize data regarding various foods and/or beverages that one or more local restaurants may offer and recommend a particular restaurant and/or menu item to a particular user based on the known dietary preferences and geographical location of the user. The system also may generate custom menu items for each user based on a cross-section of the user's known dietary preferences and the availability of substitutions, additions and/or deletions for a given menu item resulting in a dish that conforms to the user's preferences. The system also may facilitate the ordering of food from one or more vendors for a group of users while considering the dietary and/or lifestyle preferences of each member of the group in aggregate. The system also may utilize machine learning to learn a user's eating habits (e.g., by type of food, time of day, day of the week, geographical location, weather conditions, etc.

Abstract: A device includes a digital camera positioned underneath a display of the device that captures images through the display. When capturing images using the digital camera, light emitted by the display can get into the digital camera, interfering with or corrupting the captured images. An enhanced output image is generated from a captured image that mitigates the interference from the display. The enhanced output image is generated, for example, by capturing a different calibration image for each pixel type (e.g., Red, Green, and Blue) included in the display. When an image is subsequently captured, an amount of color emitted by the pixels on the display for the currently displayed image is determined and one or more subtraction images are generated and subtracted from the captured image to mitigate the interference from the display.

A second portion of the fiber passage is positioned between the second end and the intermediate portion of the fiber passage. The second portion extends between the second alignment block and the second gel block.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for synchronizing and locking clocks identifies entangled pairs of photons by comparing a first and second list of measured state values of single photons, wherein the first list is compiled by photon arrival times measured using a first clock and the second list is compiled by photon arrival times measured using a second clock. Entangled pairs of photons are identified by a match of the measured state values of single photons in their respective lists. Elapsed times of the first and second clocks are determined by taking the difference between arrival times of respective identified entangled pairs of photons measured using their respective clocks. A rate of one of the first and second clocks is changed based on a difference between the elapsed times, thereby synchronizing the first and second clocks. Clocks are locked by repeating.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture for detecting anomalous activity of an IoT device are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a communications aggregator to aggregate communications from a device communicating via a communications interface, a statistical property extractor to extract statistical properties of the aggregated communications, an image generator to generate an image based on the extracted statistical properties, a persona identifier to identify a persona associated with the device, and a machine learning model trainer to train a machine learning model using the generated image and the persona.

Abstract: Methods and compositions for detecting tau pathology are described. The compositions for detecting tau pathology comprise a targeting ligand that specifically binds to a cell surface marker of tau pathology, wherein the targeting ligand is linked to a liposome that includes an imaging agent. The compositions can be used in a method for imaging tau pathology in a subject that comprises administering to the subject an effective amount of the composition to a subject and imaging at least a portion of the subject to determine if that portion of the subject exhibits tau pathology. The compositions can also be used to detect tau pathology in biological samples obtained from a subject.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments of golf training device that helps a golfer learn and coordinate lower body positions and movements with upper body movements, using a series of feedback signals. In one embodiment, among others, a system comprises a foot sensor that attaches to a Lead Foot of a user. The foot sensor is configured to detect a heel of the Lead Foot being raised. The system also comprises a leg sensor that attaches to a Trail Leg of the user, and the leg sensor detects a bend in the Trail Leg of the user. The foot sensor is configured to detect the heel being lowered at an instance after the detection of the bend in the Trail Leg. The system further comprises a feedback device configured to activate one or more feedback indicators after the detections of foot and/or leg movements.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for imparting and limiting hypocycloidal, lateral, and torsional forces onto drill bits are provided, including hypocycloidal bearings for limiting hypocycloidal motion, lateral impulse mechanisms for imparting lateral movement to a drill bit, and torsional impulse mechanisms for imparting torsional movement to a drill bit. The methods systems, and apparatus may decrease friction, increase drilling efficiency, and provide additional benefits to drilling systems.

Abstract: A frame assembly for a motor vehicle that may include a first load beam, a second load beam, and a frame rail that are configured for receipt and transfer of energy to a sill that can move the sill in a downward direction. A counterbalancing load beam that includes a first fixed end is attached to the first load beam and a second fixed end is attached to the frame rail. The counterbalancing load beam is configured for receipt of at least a portion of the energy applied to the first load beam, and the counterbalancing load beam is configured to transfer the energy received from the first load beam to the frame rail such that the transfer of energy to the sill that can move the sill in the downward direction is counterbalanced by the energy transferred by the counterbalancing load beam to the frame rail.
