Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to arranging a pick up and drop off locations between a driverless vehicle and a passenger. As an example, a method of doing so may include receiving a request for a vehicle from a client computing device, wherein the request identifies a first location. Pre-stored map information and the first location are used to identify a recommended point according to a set of heuristics. Each heuristic of the set of heuristics has a ranking such that the recommended point corresponds to a location that satisfies at least one of the heuristics having a first rank and such that no other location satisfies any other heuristic of the set of heuristics having a higher rank than the first rank. The pre-stored map information identifying a plurality of pre-determined locations for the vehicle to stop, and the recommended point is one of the plurality of pre-determined locations.

Abstract: Multiple autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are operated by a host platform by configuring the AUVs with intermediate nodes (such as unmanned surface vehicles (USVs)) so as to allow the host platform to manage multiple AUVs. The intermediate nodes act as a relay for communications between the host platform and the AUVs allowing the host platform to scale to higher numbers of vehicles thus simultaneously operating the entire fleet of AUVs. The AUVs may provide underwater mapping data. The host platform may be stationary. The host platform may communicate with the intermediate nodes by satellite.

Abstract: An overlay network system includes multiple point-of-presence (POP) devices each including a path finding component and corresponding telemetry component, agent component, and routing daemon. The telemetry component generates latency measurements for the POP on which it is disposed. A centralized billboard service provides border gateway protocol (BGP) announcements and point-of-presence (POP) peering decisions to each of the agent components. On each of the POPs, the path finding component and corresponding telemetry component, agent component, and routing daemon cooperate to transform the BGP announcements, peering decisions, and latency measurements into routing tables and link selections for packet streams routed through the POPs.

Abstract: A rapid-entry shoe allows the shoe to be rapidly entered and readied for wearing by the user. The shoe may be any of a wide variety of shoe types, including shoes of a wide variety of styles and functions. The rapid entry features of the shoes utilize various movable elements that are attached to a sole portion or other portion of the shoe and allow movement of a portion of the shoe under pressure to allow rapid entry of the user's foot into the shoe.

Abstract: In general, the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in methods, systems, and program products for providing search results automatically to a user of a computing device. A spoken input provided by a user to a computing device is received. The spoken input is transmitted to a computer server system that is remote from the computing device. Search result information that is responsive to the spoken input is receiving by the computing device and in response to the transmitted spoken input. An alert is provided to the user that the device will connect the user to a target of the search result information if the user does not intervene to stop the connecting of the user. The user is connected to the target of the search result information based on a determination that the user has not intervened to stop the connecting of the user.

Abstract: A coolant flow control valve (CFCV) which includes an actuator having a microcontroller which drives an electric motor, such as a brushless DC motor. The motor drives a gear train, and the gear train drives a valve. The motor and gear train are used to rotate the valve to one or more positions, and thus direct coolant (passing through the valve) between ports. The valve is rotated to different positions to create various flow paths, such that coolant is directed between the different flow paths. The valve is a rotor having three different channels. The CFCV may also include a compound valve, where two valves are connected to and driven by one actuator. The valves may be of different shapes to accommodate inlet and outlet ports of various configurations.

Abstract: In the method, coded information of a coding unit (CU) in a picture of a video is received from a coded video bitstream. The CU is partitioned into a first partition and a second partition based on a geometric partition mode (GPM). The first partition and the second partition are rectangular partitions that are adjacent to each other and divided by a straight partition line. A first intra prediction mode for the first partition of the CU and a second intra prediction mode for the second partition of the CU are determined. The first intra prediction mode is different from the second intra prediction mode. The first partition of the CU is reconstructed based on the first intra prediction mode and the second partition of the CU is reconstructed based on the second intra prediction mode.

Abstract: An electronic trigger assembly for a firearm includes a firearm control mechanism, a safety actuator and a firing actuator. The firing control mechanism is configured to operate in a safe mode or a shot mode. The safety actuator is configured to actuate a safety rod linearly in a first direction to switch the firing control mechanism between the safe mode and the shot mode. The firing actuator is configured to actuate a firing plunger linearly in a second direction to actuate the firing control mechanism in the shot mode.

Abstract: In aspects of environment mapping based on UWB tags, a system includes ultra-wideband (UWB) tags located for association with respective objects in an environment, where each UWB tag is identified with a digital label indicative of the association with one or more of the objects. A mapping module is implemented to determine a location of each of the UWB tags in the environment, and determine relative positions of each of the UWB tags with respect to each other. The mapping module can generate a location association map of the objects in the environment based on the location and the relative position of each of the UWB tags associated with the respective objects. In an environment within a building, the mapping module can generate the location association map as a floor plan of the building, including the objects location in the building.

Abstract: A file system executing on a computing device may store a placeholder for a file on secondary storage of the computing device. The placeholder may comprise a sparse data stream containing none or some of the data of the file and information which enables the remotely stored data of the file to be retrieved from the network. As some or all of the data for the file is being stored remotely, the computing device may rely on a storage virtualization provider to create metadata for the file. Thus, the file system executing on the computing device may receive, from the storage virtualization provider, a request to store metadata associated with the file. In response to this request, the file system may store the metadata as a Binary Large Object (BLOB) in a secondary data stream of the placeholder for the file.

Abstract: A method for matching production of FBA metabolism to supply and demand within a larger production network is described herein. An objective function of FBA metabolism is modified to include an upstream supply generated in upstream sub-units, as well as a downstream demand generated within downstream sub-units in the production network. FBA metabolism and the upstream and downstream sub-units are iteratively solved with updated initial conditions, producing a time series solution to the production network.

The method also includes determining a current vehicle position and an estimated subsequent vehicle position. The method also includes determining a path adjustment from the current vehicle position to the estimated subsequent vehicle position. The method also includes transmitting instructions to the drive system causing the vehicle to autonomously maneuver towards the estimated subsequent vehicle position based on the path adjustment.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for evaluating collected data relating to online activity, and modification of services within a service provider network. In one embodiment, a service provider collects data relating to the online activity of users of third-party services and correlates the data with subscribers of the service provider to generate useful products and analytics (e.g., classifications, behavioral models, etc.) containing information relating to the subscribers' online activity. The generated products may be used to determine whether and how to modify services provided to individual subscribers, exported for use by third parties, or for other purposes.
