Abstract: The disclosure generally pertains to battery charging management of battery electric vehicles (BEVs). In an example method, a processor generates an operational profile for a first BEV among a number of BEVs. The profile may be based on a mileage accumulation pattern, a parking pattern, and/or a battery charging pattern, detected over an information collection period. The mileage accumulation pattern may be based on the use of the first BEV for commuting from a residence to a workplace. The processor determines an availability of a battery charging outlet in a section of a garage of the residence, and based on the operational profile of the first BEV, identifies a period of time for charging a battery of the first BEV in the garage. The processor then issues a directive to park the first BEV in the section of the garage over the identified period of time for charging the battery.

Abstract: A mill including a housing having a fluid bypass pathway, a milling feature at a longitudinal end of the housing, a chamber defined by the housing, and a piston disposed in communication with the chamber, the piston defining a fluid passageway initially aligned with the fluid bypass pathway, the piston responsive to pump pressure to move toward the milling feature, the movement misaligning the fluid passageway with the fluid bypass pathway.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a load bearing direct-drive system and a variable process control system for efficiently managing the operation of fans in a cooling system such as a wet-cooling tower, air-cooled heat exchanger (ACHE), HVAC system, blowers and centrifugal blowers, mechanical towers or chiller systems. In one embodiment, the load bearing direct-drive system comprises a load bearing torque multiplier device having an output rotatable shaft connected to a fan, and a load bearing motor comprising a rotatable shaft that drives the load bearing torque multiplier device.

Abstract: Water or wastewater filtration systems and processes have a filter tank having a floor and sidewall defining a filtration zone, an influent conduit, and an effluent conduit. One or more filtration members in the tank having filter media, and one or more cleaning apparatus adjacent at least some portions of the filter media. Generating an effluent stream by generating a pressure differential across submerged portions of the filtration media, causing water in the influent to flow from outside to inside the submerged portions of the filter media. A prime mover rotates the filtration members. A blower and chamber for creating a reduced pressure condition in each cleaning apparatus when they are non-submerged, the chamber receiving wet solids removed from non-submerged, wet solids-laden portions of the filter media by the non-submerged cleaning apparatus subsequent to submerged, fouled portions of the filter media being rotated out of the filtration zone.

Abstract: Methods and coating compositions for application to a substrate utilizing a high transfer efficiency applicator are provided. An exemplary method includes providing the coating composition to the high transfer efficiency applicator; applying the coating composition onto the substrate utilizing a high transfer efficiency applicator to form an applied layer, wherein a loss of volatiles after application through the high transfer efficiency applicator is less than about 1 weight percent based on a total weight of the coating composition; performing a partial polymerization via radiation of the applied layer; and after performing the partial polymerization of the applied layer, thermally curing and drying the applied layer. An exemplary coating composition has a pre-application viscosity, at a shear rate of 1000 s?1, of less than about 100 centipoise (cP), and a post-radiation-exposure viscosity at a shear rate of 0.1 s?1 of from about 500 cP to about 150,000 cP.

Abstract: A temperature control device (e.g., a thermostat) may be configured to control an internal heat-generating electrical load so as to accurately measure a present temperature in a space around the temperature control device. The temperature control device may comprise a temperature sensing circuit configured to generate a temperature control signal indicating the present temperature in the space, and a control circuit configured to receive the temperature control signal and to control the internal electrical load. The control circuit may be configured to energize the internal electrical load in an awake state and to cause the internal electrical load to consume less power in an idle state. The control circuit may be configured to control the internal electrical load to a first energy level (e.g., a first intensity) during the awake state and to a second energy level (e.g., second intensity) that is less than the first during the idle state.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer readable media for performing task assignment, completion, and management within a crowdsourced surveillance platform. A remote server may identify targets for image capture and may assign capture tasks to users based on travel plans of the user. Users may be assigned task to capture image of target locations lying along a travel path. The remote server may aggregate data related to the captured images and use it to update a map and log changes to the target location over time.

Abstract: A method for controlling electronic shifting of a bicycle includes identifying, by a processor, sensor data. The sensor data identifies a state of the bicycle. The processor determines a rider engagement status based on the identified sensor data. The processor determines a target cadence based on the determined rider engagement status. The processor determines a cadence band based on the determined target cadence. The electronic shifting of the bicycle is controlled based on the determined cadence band. The controlling of the electronic shifting of the bicycle includes actuating a motor of the bicycle for electronic shifting of the bicycle when a cadence of the bicycle is outside of the determined cadence band.

Abstract: Gadolinium based contrast agents (GCA) incorporating linear ligand chelation are fundamentally different from GCAs incorporating macrocyclic ligands. The macrocyclic GCAs are synthesized by pathways characterized by the formation of a sequence of metastable complexes before obtaining the final stable complex. The synthesis of linear GCAs do not form metastable complexes. Commercial macrocyclic GCAs contain unstable metastable complexes. These metastable species are not regulated and quickly release free Gd3+ ions upon administration into the body. Gadolinium based contrast agents with near zero metastable species content and methods of synthesizing the same are disclosed. Gadolinium based contrast agents with long dissociation time in the body, and low free Gd3+ ion formation are obtained using a synthesis method which departs in novel ways from the traditional free Gd3+-based synthesis methods.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for point cloud compression and decompression. In some examples, an apparatus for point cloud compression/decompression includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry determines to use a prediction mode for coding (encoding/decoding) information associated with a current point in a point cloud. In the prediction mode, the information associated with the current point is predicted based on one or more neighbor points of the current point. The processing circuitry calculates, using integer operations, a distance-based weighted average value based on distances of the one or more neighbor points to the current point, and determines the information associated with the current point based on the distance-based weighted average value.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for providing a bi-directional data communication link within a LIDAR assembly that has a stationary portion attached to an autonomous vehicle and a second portion rotatably connected to the stationary portion. The second portion may include one or more emitting/receiving devices (e.g., lasers) for detecting objects surrounding the autonomous vehicle. A first printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) having a first optical transceiver may be located within the stationary portion. A second PCBA having a second optical transceiver may be located within the second portion. A hollow shaft may be positioned so as to extend between the stationary portion and the second portion.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a portable folding chair including a central assembly having an upper portion and a lower portion. The lower portion may be connectable to the upper portion so that the upper portion may swivel with respect to the lower portion. The portable folding chair may include leg members attached to the lower portion of the central assembly. Each of the leg members may be moveable between a folded position and a deployed position. Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for increasing bandwidth efficiency in satellite communications. In some embodiments, a satellite communications method is provided that comprises receiving, at a satellite and from a plurality of user ground terminals, a plurality of source signals, wherein each of the source signals are modulated according to at least one source modulation method, and further receiving, at a satellite and from a plurality of user ground terminals, a plurality of information signals corresponding to the plurality of source signals. The method further includes combining, at the satellite, the plurality of source signals into a combined source signal with an overlapping bandwidth, wherein each of the source signals are further modulated according to at least one predetermined modulation method before they are combined, and transmitting, by a downlink transmission from the satellite to a gateway ground station, the combined source signal.

Abstract: An access point that selectively provides a probe response is described. During operation, the access point may receive a probe request associated with an electronic device. In response, the access point may selectively provide the probe response based at least in part on a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) associated with the probe request and a threshold value. For example, the probe response may be provided when the SNR is greater than the threshold value, and otherwise the probe request may be discarded or ignored. Moreover, the access point may dynamically determine the threshold value based at least in part on: one or more other access points that are in wireless communication range of the access point; SNRs associated with the one or more other access points; and/or an estimated wireless coverage provided by the one or more other access points.
