Abstract: A system includes a coolant pump and a first rotary valve. The coolant pump is configured to be mechanically driven by an engine and to send coolant to an inlet of the engine. The first rotary valve is configured to receive coolant from an outlet of the engine and to send coolant to a first radiator and a heater core. The first rotary valve is adjustable to a zero flow position to prevent coolant flow to the first radiator and the heater core and thereby increase a rate at which the engine warms coolant flowing therethrough.

Abstract: A near-eye display system includes a display panel to display a near-eye lightfield frame comprising an array of elemental images and an eye tracking component to track a pose of a user's eye. The system further includes a lenslet array and a rendering component to adjust the focal points of the array of elemental images in the integral lightfield frame based on the pose of the user's eye. A method of operation of the near-eye display system includes determining, using an eye tracking component of the near-eye display system, a first pose of a user's eye and determining a desired focal point for an array of elemental images forming an integral lightfield frame based on the first pose of the user's eye. The method further includes changing the focal length of light projecting out of a lenslet array based on the first pose of the user's eye.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to machine learning. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to systems and methods that regularize neural networks by decorrelating neurons or other parameters of the neural networks during training of the neural networks promoting these parameter to innovate over one another.
Abstract: A wireless power transfer (“WPT”) pad apparatus includes a first winding adjacent to the ferrite structure, where the first winding is arranged in a spiral-type pattern, and a second winding adjacent to the ferrite structure. The second winding is arranged in a spiral-type pattern and the second winding wound interleaved to the first winding. The first and second windings are arranged to compensate for a difference in length between the first winding and the second winding for portions of the first and second windings wound adjacent to each other.
Abstract: A PCV system includes a PCV valve configured to be inserted into a port formed on a mating component of an engine and regulate a flow of blow-by gases from a crankcase to an intake manifold. A PCV line includes a first end, and a second end configured to fluidly couple to the air intake manifold. A PCV valve cap is coupled to the PCV line first end and configured to further couple to the mating component to secure the PCV valve in the port and establish a fluid coupling with the mating component. The PCV valve is separate and distinct from the PCV valve cap such that a disconnection of the fluid coupling between the PCV line first end and the mating component separates the PCV line from the PCV valve such that the PCV valve no longer regulates flow through the PCV line into the intake manifold.
Abstract: A radio frequency identification (RFID) system first interrogates, in a first mode, one or more particular target zones of the plurality of target zones including a given target zone. Each particular target zone is interrogated with one of the antennas at a time at a first power for the particular target zone. The RFID system monitors, upon first interrogating, for a trigger condition to occur. In response to the trigger condition not occurring, the RFID system continues the first interrogation in the first mode. In response to the trigger condition occurring, the RFID system second interrogates the given target zone in a second mode at a second power with a plurality of the antennas.

Abstract: Template-driven locally calculated policy updates for virtualized machines in a datacenter environment are described. A central control and monitoring node calculates and pushes down policy templates to local control and monitoring nodes. The templates provide boundaries and/or a pool of networking resources, from which the local control and monitoring node is enabled to calculate policy updates for locally instantiated virtual machines and containers.

Abstract: Procedures are disclosed for alerting user devices in a 5G/6G network that they have an incoming message, and for enabling those user devices to request their messages in a low-complexity, resource-conserving manner. A user device that uses DRX (discontinuous reception) may be unavailable when a message arrives, in which case the base station may store the message. Periodically, the base station can transmit a polling message that indicates which of the user devices currently has a message on hold. In addition, the base station can allocate an uplink reply region in which those user devices can request their messages without contention. Various versions are disclosed, involving cascaded addressing, sectioning, modulation, and/or identification using network-assigned codes. The compact polling format may enable both small and large networks to accommodate DRX users, with minimal resource usage, according to some embodiments.

The at least one wall may include a plurality of joined substantially parallel layers of material, a plurality of pockets defined within the at least one wall, each pocket of the plurality of pockets including a plurality of openings formed in consecutive layers of the plurality of joined substantially parallel layers of material, and a plurality of recesses defined within the at least one wall and between layers of the plurality of joined substantially parallel layers of material, the plurality of recesses defining at least one conduit. The down-hole tool also includes at least one electronic component disposed within a pocket of the plurality of pockets and at least one electrical connection disposed within the at least one conduit.
Abstract: An exhaust energy recovery system (EERS) and associated methods for an engine are disclosed. An embodiment of an EERS, for example, includes an inlet duct that is configured to divert exhaust gas from an exhaust duct of the engine into the recovery system and an outlet duct configured to return the exhaust gas to the exhaust duct downstream of the inlet duct. The recovery system is configured to heat components or fluids associated with engine to operating temperatures. The recovery system may be part of a mobile power system that is mounted to a single trailer and includes an engine and a power unit such as a high pressure pump or generator mounted to the trailer. Methods of operating and purging recovery systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: Check valves include a valve seat and a movable valve member, or piston. Movement of the piston is what allows fluid to either flow or be prevented from flowing. A magnetic check valve is provided that contains an annular piston, which is configured such that the fluid flows through a central aperture in the piston. Fuel cell systems include a cathode loop which is in contact with the proton exchange membrane (PEM). The PEM is sensitive to fowling by contaminants that may be present in the ambient air. The magnetic check valve apparatus disclosed herein prevents backflow of air through the exhaust side of the cathode loop. The valve is used on the inlet side of the cathode as well.
Abstract: A high-gain miniaturized antenna element includes a radiation structure and a feed support structure. The radiation structure includes a first radiator and a second radiator. The first radiator is arranged horizontally. The second radiator is formed by bending an outer edge of the first radiator downwardly. The feed support structure includes a plurality of feed support parts arranged vertically. Each feed support part is a downward extension of the first radiator.
Abstract: Distributed computing system (DCS) performance is enhanced by caching optimizations. The DCS includes nodes with local caches. Resource accessors such as users are clustered based on their similarity, and the clusters are assigned to nodes. Then processing workloads are distributed among the nodes based on the accessors the workloads implicate, and based on which nodes were assigned to those accessors' clusters. Clustering may place security peers together in a cluster, and hence place peers together on a node. Security peers tend to access the same resources, so those resources will more often be locally cached, improving performance. Workloads implicating peers also tend to access the same resources, such as peers' behavior histories, so those resources will likewise tend to be cached locally, thus optimizing performance as compared for example to randomly assigning accessors to nodes without clustering and without regard to security peer groupings.
