  • Patent number: 11432167
Abstract: A network has wireless enabled nodes of more than one hardware type. A computing device obtains a software update for one of the node types and sends an announcement of availability through the network. The announcement includes a node type identifier. A node that recognizes the identifier as matching its own hardware type collects the software update through a series of one or more requested packet transfers from the controller. Each packet carrying part of the update also includes the node type identifier. A node of a different type that has received the packets may serve as a source of missing packets to other nodes. Alternatively, nodes needing missing packets can fetch them from the computing device. When the software update is completely received by a node of the identified type, that node reboots and executes the updated software. Any node of another type discards the packets.

  • Patent number: 11428816
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining elevation based on structural modeling and light detection and ranging (LIDAR) data are disclosure. LIDAR bare earth data corresponding to an area within a parcel boundary is obtained as preliminary elevation data. A basis of structure boundary is determined for a structure within the parcel boundary based on an absence of the LIDAR bare earth data within a region in the area. Three-dimensional models are generated based on photographic data, to represent portions of the structure that affect LIDAR signals. A structure boundary for the structure is determined based on the basis of structure boundary in combination with supplemental elevation data generated using the three-dimensional models. Adjacent grade values are determined based on a portion of the preliminary elevation data and supplemental elevation data corresponding to an area between the structure boundary and a buffer boundary.

  • Patent number: RE49191
Abstract: A computer controlled locomotive brake (CCB) configured for setting and releasing the retainer valves of the railcars of a train. The CCB may initially recharge the brake pipe to a pressure slightly less than the retainer valve release pressure. The CCB may then continue charging to this level until the brake pipe flow, measured at the CCB on the controlling locomotive and the brake pipe pressure on the last car, as measured by an end of train device, indicate that the pressure in the braking system reservoirs are substantively equal to the brake pipe pressure. Once the reservoirs are substantively charged, the CCB may complete the brake release and recharge by recharging the brake pipe pressure to its final charge so that all retainer valves are released and the train has sufficient braking system recharge to safely control movement of the train.
