Patent number: 11424861Abstract: A method and apparatus decode packetized data in the presence of packet erasures using a finite sliding window technique. A decoder receives packets containing uncoded and coded symbols. When a packet with a coded symbol is received, the decoder determines whether a packet sequence number is within a sliding window of w consecutive sequence numbers that are no greater than a decoder sequence number, where the number w is fixed prior to encoding. When this is the case, the decoder decodes the coded symbol into one or more of the w input symbols using the coefficient vector. Decoding may use a forward error correcting (FEC) window within the finite sliding window. Decoding also may use a technique of Gaussian elimination to produce a “shifted” row echelon coefficient matrix.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2018Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignees: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Code On Network Coding, LLC, Technische Universität DresdenInventors: Kerim Fouli, Frank Gabriel, Muriel Medard, Sreekrishna Pandi, Simon Wunderlich

Patent number: 11425499Abstract: The present invention provides methods and systems for digital processing of an input audio signal. Specifically, the present invention includes a high pass filter configured to filter the input audio signal to create a high pass signal. A first filter module then filters the high pass signal to create a first filtered signal. A first compressor modulates the first filtered signal to create a modulated signal. A second filter module then filters the modulated signal to create a second filtered signal. The second filtered signal is processed by a first processing module. A band splitter splits the processed signal into low band, mid band, and high band signals. The low band and high band signals are modulated by respective compressors. A second processing module further processes the modulated low band, mid band, and modulated high band signals to create an output signal.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2020Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: BONGIOVI ACOUSTICS LLCInventors: Anthony Bongiovi, Glenn Zelniker, Phillip Fuller

Patent number: 11421169Abstract: This document describes methods for pretreating coal to create either a dried coal or a char product that is stable in the outdoor environment and is more efficient as a feedstock for gasification or other processes than the original coal. Embodiments of the methods include pulverizing and pelletizing the coal, and pretreating the coal pellets to obtain a stable pellet of either dried coal or a stable pellet of chared coal (coal char). The pellets created by the described methods have undergone deoxygenation and carbonization improving their handling and storage properties and, in some cases, energy density. Pore structures within the pellets are stabilized physically and chemically so that the uptake of moisture into dry coal, that leads to internal heat generation, is greatly reduced. Chars are also, therefore, stable against transitions from a dry state to a wet state and less prone to self-ignition.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2019Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: TerraPower, LLCInventors: Benjamin L. Patent number: 11422890Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus for correcting a stream of syndrome measurements produced by a quantum computer. A layered representation of error propagation through quantum error detection circuits is received. The layered representation includes a plurality of line circuit layers that each represent a probability of local detection events in a quantum computer associated with one or more potential error processes in the execution of a quantum algorithm. During execution of the quantum algorithm, one or more syndrome measurements are received from quantum error detection circuits. The syndrome measurements are converted into detection events and written to an array that represents quantum error correction circuits that are grouped together at a sequence of steps in the quantum algorithm. Errors in the execution of the quantum algorithm are determined from the detection events in dependence upon the stored line circuit layers. Based on the determined errors, the syndrome measurements are corrected.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2017Date of Patent: August 23, 2022Assignee: Google LLCInventor: Austin Greig Fowler
