Abstract: Methods, sample vessels, and instruments are provided for melting curve analysis. A sample is amplified by thermal cycling the sample well between at least an annealing temperature and a denaturation temperature through n cycles, where each cycle includes an in-cycle denaturation step. Fluorescent data is collected during the in-cycle denaturation step of n cycles where n is at least two. Then a composite melting curve is generated using the fluorescent data collected during the denaturation step of each of the n cycles, and the sample is called using the composite melting curve, where the call is a positive or a negative call.

Abstract: A woven retention device that is configured to receive a fastener in a bone hole can be configured to promote bone ingrowth and impede biofilm formation. The woven retention device can be made of woven filaments that outline apertures of varying sizes and shapes and can serve as an interface between the fastener and the bone material. In a first relaxed state, the interwoven filaments can outline apertures of varying sizes and shapes within a predetermined range and in a second constricted state inside the bone hole with the fastener the interwoven filaments can outline apertures of decreased area that still fall within the predetermined range. The woven retention device can be configured to allow for optimal bone growth while at the same time minimizing the likelihood that biofilm forms thereon.
Abstract: A hubcap for a wheel with a floating tire seat, the wheel having a rim comprising a tire seat extended axially outwards by a flange, the tire seat being radially floating, comprises a central edge and an exterior periphery, in which the central edge comprises fixing elements for attaching to the rigid part of the wheel and in which the central edge is connected to the exterior periphery by an intermediate sector that is deformable so that the exterior periphery can be moved at least radially inwards with respect to the central edge.

Abstract: Presented are driver alert systems with control logic for powertrain energy tracking and reporting, methods for making/using such systems, and electric-drive vehicles with alert systems for providing driver cues to indicate real-time potential energy buildup in the powertrain. A method of operating a driver alert system for an electric-drive vehicle includes a vehicle controller receiving a selection of a powertrain operating mode. Responsive to the received selection, the vehicle controller determines a buildup of output torque generated via an electric traction motor for an impending vehicle maneuver associated with the selected powertrain operating mode. The controller accesses a memory-stored, torque-based lookup table to retrieve an output level calibrated to an in-vehicle sensory output device and corresponding to an output torque value for the determined torque buildup.

Abstract: Some example product dispensers that accommodate two full paper towel rolls are provided herein. The product dispenser may employ separate dispensing mechanisms for each product roll and may include roll holders that articulate out from the housing to facilitate easy loading and access to replacement and loading of the other product roll. A roll partition may be utilized to separate the web paths of the two product rolls and enable rotation of front roll holders. Example funnel covers and nip covers can aid with intuitive installation. Example roll holders with retention mechanisms help prevent unintentional dropping of the installed product roll. Other beneficial features include utilizing motor operation sensing to dispense a desired sheet length, automatic/assisted loading into the dispensing mechanism, automatic switching between dispensing of product rolls, and always dispensing from the smaller product roll first. Many other features/structures of example product dispensers are also described herein.

Abstract: An apparatus, material and method for forming a brazing sheet has a composite braze liner layer of low melting point aluminum alloy and 4000 series braze liner. The low melting point layer of the composite braze liner facilitates low temperature brazing and decrease of the diffusion of magnesium from the core into the composite braze liner. The reduction of magnesium diffusion also lowers the formation of associated magnesium oxides at the braze joint interface that are resistant to removal by Nocolok flux, thereby facilitating the formation of good brazing joints through the use of low temperature controlled atmosphere brazing (CAB) and Nocolok flux. The apparatus also enables the production of brazing sheet materials with high strength and good corrosion property.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a composition comprising (a) a vinylidene chloride/methyl acrylate interpolymer having greater than 6 wt % methyl acrylate mer units in the interpolymer, (b) greater than 6 wt % of an epoxy plasticizer; and (c) less than 4 wt % of an acrylate polymer. The composition exhibits a crystallization time greater than 25 minutes to crystallization at 35° C. Films made from the present composition show improved processability and find advantageous application as permeable barrier film for food packaging, for specialty food packaging, and for gassy cheese.
Abstract: Engaging washers such as reaction washers and backup washers can include novel advantageous features. For example, an engaging washer can include an inner row of teeth and an outer row of teeth, where the teeth in the inner row can slope in a first circumferential direction to primarily engage a flange during bolt tightening, and the teeth in the outer row can slope in a second circumferential direction to primarily engage during bolt loosening. The engaging washers may also include an arched design to allow gradual increasing of contact surface areas as a clamping force in the washer gradually increases. Additionally, a reaction washer can include stepped castles for engaging a reaction socket. The castles may also include sloped or curved engaging surfaces that can provide decreased contact surface area and may also inhibit outward biasing of reaction fingers that are engaging the castles.
Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve can include a support structure, an actuator member, and a plurality of leaflets. The support structure can have a plurality of struts and a plurality of rivets. The struts can have openings formed therein. The rivets can have first portions and second portions. The first portions can extend through the openings of the struts, and the second portions are larger than the first portion and the openings of the struts. The struts are pivotable about the rivets to radially expand and compress the support structure. The actuator member can be coupled to the struts of the support structure and configured to selectively actuate expansion and compression of the support structure. The leaflets can be coupled to the support structure and configured to allow unidirectional blood flow through the prosthetic heart valve.
Abstract: A vehicle, system and method of operating the vehicle. A sensor measures a dynamic parameter of the vehicle. A processor determines a lateral force on a first tire based on the dynamic parameter of the vehicle, determines a longitudinal force on the first tire that achieves a maximal grip of the first tire for the lateral force, and adjusts a first torque on the first tire in order to achieve the determined longitudinal force at the first tire.

The memory die includes an alternating stack of insulating layers and electrically conductive layers located over a first single crystalline semiconductor layer, and memory stack structures extending through the alternating stack and containing respective memory film and a respective vertical semiconductor channel including a single crystalline channel semiconductor material. The support die includes a peripheral circuitry. Substrates employed to provide the memory die and the support die can be reused by replacing one of the substrates with an alternative low-cost substrate that provides structural support to the bonded assembly.
