Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, methods, and computer-readable media for adjudicating incidents between players within a simulation environment (e.g., a gaming environment). For example, systems disclosed herein involve training an adjudication model trained to evaluate player data from a plurality of player states over time to determine whether one or more players are at fault for an identified incident within the simulation environment. The systems disclosed herein can maintain a dynamic circular buffer that provides a snapshot of the player data over a predetermined period of time and which provides a scalable and computationally efficient mechanism for evaluating player data for multiple players to determine whether one or more players are violating rules within the simulation environment.

Abstract: An apparatus for upgrading a software product is provided. The apparatus generates an upgrade package of the software product, the upgrade package including an installation file of the software product, a metadata file and one or more executable files. The apparatus also executes the one or more executable files to perform operations for upgrading the software product. The operations include unpacking the installation file; adding a disk file in the installation file to a virtual machine based on a file name indicated in the metadata file, the disk file including upgraded files of the software product; mounting the disk file to a mount point of the virtual machine, wherein the mount point is indicated in the metadata file; and providing a path to access the upgraded files based on the mount point and a folder path of the upgraded files indicated in the metadata file.

Abstract: A pipe coupling includes a coupling segment having an inner surface defining a ring groove proximate to an axial end of the coupling segment, the ring groove comprising a groove bottom surface extending from a first end of the coupling segment to a second end of the coupling segment; and a pipe connection ring disposed within the ring groove, the pipe connection ring defining a body with two ring ends and an outer surface, the outer surface of the pipe connection ring contacting the groove bottom surface at a midpoint between the first end of the coupling segment and the second end of the coupling segment when the pipe connection ring is in an uncompressed condition. The pipe connection ring may be a split ring defining an opening between the two ring ends, which may be square, tapered, angled, or stepped.

Abstract: A ball lifting device having an elevator is attachable to a flagstick for enabling easy removal of a golf ball that is holed while putting with the flagstick in place in the cup. The elevator may be attached to a handle portion that extends up along the pole portion of the flagstick allowing the elevator to be raised by way of the handle portion. The handle portion may have a hook portion for hooking up with a golf club so that hand contact with the device is eliminated. The handle portion may be a thin member. The handle portion may be a tubular portion. The elevator may be spring loaded with the spring manually loaded by a golfer and released to eject the golf ball from the cup.

Abstract: An example circuit includes a light detector and a biasing capacitor having (i) a first terminal that applies to the light detector an output voltage that can either bias or debias the light detector and (ii) a second terminal for controlling the output voltage. The circuit includes a first transistor connected to the second terminal of the biasing capacitor and configured to drive the output voltage to a first voltage level above a biasing threshold of the light detector and thereby biasing the light detector. The circuit includes a second transistor connected to the second terminal of the biasing capacitor and configured to drive the output voltage to a second voltage level below the biasing threshold of the light detector and thereby debiasing the light detector. The second voltage is a non-zero voltage that corresponds to a charge level of the biasing capacitor.

Abstract: An in-content challenge platform and method for generating single user challenges within multiplayer games (and other media) is disclosed. The in-content challenge platform provides various in-content challenges and prize promotions to users for completing specific win conditions within an instance content (e.g., a video game, a fitness application, a streaming video service, etc.). In some embodiments, the platform can be integrated directly into the game itself. In other embodiments, the platform is seen as an overlay to the game. In still other embodiments, the user can interact with the platform through a separate piece of software that is reached via a client device independent of the content or a third-party system providing the content itself.

Abstract: Dynamic device speaker tuning for echo control includes detecting audio rendering from a speaker on a device; based at least on detecting the audio rendering, capturing, with a microphone on the device, an echo of the rendered audio; performing a Fourier Transform on the echo and the rendered audio; determining a real-time transfer function for at least one signature band; determining a difference between the real-time transfer function and a reference transfer function; and tuning the speaker for audio rendering, based at least on the difference between the real-time transfer function and the reference transfer function, by adjusting an audio amplifier equalization. For some examples, the signature band represents a wall echo or an alternative mounting option. For some examples, the echo is collected during intervals while the audio rendering is ongoing.

Abstract: Multicolored flexible wearables include a first portion having a first flexible polymer forming a toroid and including one or more colorants, a first surface, a second surface, and a recess in the first surface not reaching the second surface. A second portion formed of a second flexible polymer fills a majority of the recess and includes one or more colorants. The first and second flexible polymers have different colors and are permanently bonded together. Precious material particles may be disposed within the first and/or second flexible polymers. One or more of the colorants may have a color matching a color of the precious material particles. One method of bonding the portions includes depositing a liquid second portion into the recess and then curing it. Another method includes depositing a solid second portion into the recess and then curing a liquid layer of polymer between the first portion and second portion.

Abstract: A method of diagnosing, minimizing symptoms and/or treating the pathology of intervertebral disc degeneration includes introducing a first cannula through a vertebra along an axis of at least one pedicle of the vertebra from a generally posterior to a generally anterior direction and inserting a second cannula within a lumen of the first cannula, the second cannula constrained to a relatively straight configuration within at least a portion of the first cannula and assumes a nonlinear or curvilinear geometry external to the first cannula within at least a portion of a vertebral body of the vertebra and away from a longitudinal axis of the first cannula. The method includes forming a channel with the second cannula, the channel extending to or adjacent to a vertebral endplate of the vertebral body in order to create a defect through the vertebral endplate of the vertebra. A medical monitoring device includes a receiver for receiving data from an implantable bone distraction device, corresponding to a mechanical vibration response of a medium; a calculator for computing from the received data a distraction indicator by: (i) determining a vibration pattern of the medium from the measured vibration response; (ii) analyzing the evolution of a value of the vibration pattern from the measured vibration response during a first period; and (iii) generating a distraction indicator when the value exceeds a predefined threshold.

Abstract: A valve assembly for a dispensing container includes a closure body detachably coupled to a co-injected valve. The closure body includes a main closure body coupled to a closure cap via a flexible hinge. The co-injected valve includes a valve head and a valve frame. The valve head includes a valve head portion with multiple valve head slits, a sleeve portion, and a peripheral sealing flange. The valve frame is permanently coupled to the valve head and includes a radial ledge and a radial wall that support the peripheral sealing flange of the valve head. The co-injected valve is fabricated via a two-step injection molding process. The first step includes fabricating the valve frame from a first injection material, and the second step includes fabricating the valve member from a second injection material.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for automatically identifying and displaying unmet technical needs and/or technical problems, such as identifying and displaying serious technical issues in specific areas of technology. In some exemplary embodiments, the text of technical documents is automatically analyzed to determine whether the text of any document identifies or potentially identifies a technical problem. In exemplary embodiments, portions of a documents called “problem kernels” and their associated features are automatically identified, automatically scored, and automatically ranked, and a subset of the problem kernels and/or features of problem kernels are displayed to a user on a computer display.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable mediums for selecting and configuring a computing system to support a replicated application are disclosed. According to one example, a method includes capturing resource availability data associated with a plurality of computing systems, wherein each of the plurality of computing systems resides at a separate and distinct geographical site. The method further includes determining, for each of the plurality of computing systems, a suitability score based on the captured resource availability data and at least one external factor associated with the computing system, selecting one of the plurality of computing systems to host the replicated application based on the determined suitability scores, and establishing a logical environment on the selected computing system to support the enterprise application.

Abstract: A device for facilitating event processing is presented. The device includes a transceiver, one or more memories including an event processing model, and one or more processors. The processors retrieve a new event from an application programming interface (API). The processors then parse the new event to determine a parsed event and store the parsed event in the memories. After determining the presence or absence of an additional new event via the API, the processors transmit a notification for display to a user indicating the parsed event and prompting a user to process the parsed event, resulting in either a successful or a failure processing signal. Responsive to receiving a failure processing signal, the processors schedule a subsequent notification for transmission to the user device according to an event processing model by using an exponential back-off and a random jitter.

For example, the system may include one or more memory units storing instructions and one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to perform operations. The operations may include receiving, from a user device, an input indicating a segment of a first recorded call and an attribute associated with the segment. The operations may include determining a parameter of a model, wherein the model is associated with the attribute. The operations may include changing the parameter based on the input. The operations may include generating an updated model based on the changed parameter, wherein the updated model may be configured to analyze recorded calls having one or more segments with the same attribute.

Abstract: A DNA sequencing device having a first conductor electrically insulated from a second conductor, a voltage source and an amplifier electrically connected in series with the first conductor and the second conductor, a DNA polymerase attached to the first conductor and to the second conductor with matching biotinylated tag molecules, and an electric current monitor. A non-discriminating electrical signal is provided by the polymerase during pairing, which signal can be used as a marker to indicate that transcription is occurring between a single-type of free nucleotide and a base nucleotide of a template DNA strand.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method, an electronic device and a computer program product for creating metadata index. The method disclosed herein comprises: generating a first-level index to index a metadata item; inserting a first indication into the first-level index to indicate a position of the metadata item in a set of metadata; generating a second-level index to index a set of first-level indexes; and inserting a second indication into the second-level index to indicate a set of positions of the set of metadata. In this way, embodiments of the present disclosure can create an index structure which can indicate the position of the metadata item, so as to rapidly determine the position of the metadata item.
