Abstract: A linear actuator system includes a linear actuator and at least one proportional control valve and at least one pump connected to the linear actuator to provide fluid to operate the linear actuator. The at least one pump includes at least one fluid driver having a prime mover and a fluid displacement assembly to be driven by the prime mover such that fluid is transferred from the pump inlet to the pump outlet. The linear actuator system also includes a controller that establishes at least one of a speed and a torque of the at least one prime mover and concurrently establishes an opening of the at least one proportional control valve to adjust at least one of a flow and a pressure in the linear actuator system to an operational set point.
Abstract: An example system includes an analyzer to identify first activity in first neuro-response data, the first activity generated in response to exposure of a subject to a first stimulus prior to exposure to an advertisement or entertainment; identify second activity in second neuro-response data, the second activity generated in response to re-exposure of the subject to the first stimulus after to exposure to the advertisement or entertainment; calculate a differential event related potential measurement; and calculate a differential event related power spectral perturbation. The example system includes a resonance estimator to determine a subject resonance measurement to the advertisement or the entertainment based on the differential event related potential measurement and adjust at least one of the subject resonance measurement or the differential event related potential measurement based on the differential event related power spectral perturbation to generate an adjusted subject resonance measurement.

Abstract: A material dispenser having a dispensing member configured to dispense a line of the material along a path in a downstream direction, and a cutting member having a cutting edge extending generally downstream with respect to the path. The cutting member having a convex shape across the path, such that the cutting edge engages and sequentially initiates cuts through the line of material when the line of material is pulled against the cutting member, thereby minimize cutting forces.
Abstract: Future data connection quality may be predicted based on past data connection quality, and future requests for data may be predicted based on past requests. These predictions may be used to help decide whether, when, and/or how to deliver the data in a proactive manner. For example, according to some aspects described herein, a future data connection quality may be predicted based at least on historical data connection quality. It may be determined whether to pre-deliver at least a first portion of an item of content based at least on the predicted future data connection quality. If so, then the at least the portion of the item of content may be pre-delivered to the device and/or to another destination.
Abstract: Method and systems control a rotational speed of a blood pump during ventricular diastole. A method includes controlling a blood pump in accordance with a first segment operational mode. A controller monitors the blood flow rate through the blood pump. The controller determines, based on the blood flow rate, whether continued controlling of the blood pump per the first segment operational mode would result in the blood flow rate through the blood pump being less than a target minimum blood flow rate. In response to a determination that continued controlling of the blood pump per the first segment operational mode would result in the blood flow rate through the blood pump being less than the target minimum blood flow rate, the controller controls the rotational speed of the blood pump so that the blood flow rate through the blood pump is approximate to the target minimum blood flow rate.
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining how to dispatch power to a property from a generator are provided. According to certain aspects, a controller associated with the generator may retrieve or access a set of data indicating time of use rates associated with utility power, performance characteristics of the generator, and/or energy usage data. Based on the data, the controller may determine a set point corresponding to when it may be beneficial to dispatch generator power to the property instead of utility power. At the set point, the controller may facilitate supplementing power from utility power with power from the generator. Additionally, the controller may collect usage and performance data associated with dispatch of the generator power.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for wireless power transfer and communications are provided. In one embodiment, a wireless power transfer system comprises an external transmit resonator configured to transmit wireless power, an implantable receive resonator configured to receive the transmitted wireless power from the transmit resonator, and communications antenna in the implantable receive resonator configured to send communication information to the transmit resonator. The communications antenna can include a plurality of gaps positioned between adjacent conductive elements, the gaps being configured to prevent or reduce induction of current in the plurality of conductive elements when the antenna is exposed to a magnetic field.
Abstract: Video decoding innovations for multithreading implementations and graphics processor unit (“GPU”) implementations are described. For example, for multithreaded decoding, a decoder uses innovations in the areas of layered data structures, picture extent discovery, a picture command queue, and/or task scheduling for multithreading. Or, for a GPU implementation, a decoder uses innovations in the areas of inverse transforms, inverse quantization, fractional interpolation, intra prediction using waves, loop filtering using waves, memory usage and/or performance-adaptive loop filtering. Innovations are also described in the areas of error handling and recovery, determination of neighbor availability for operations such as context modeling and intra prediction, CABAC decoding, computation of collocated information for direct mode macroblocks in B slices, reduction of memory consumption, implementation of trick play modes, and picture dropping for quality adjustment.

Abstract: Exterior facing, multilayer display systems and methods of use are provided herein. An example method includes determining an amount of power for a multilayer display, the multilayer display having a first layer comprising a transparent display unit and a second layer comprising a reflective display unit, the second layer being bonded to the first layer, selecting the transparent display unit when the amount of the power is above a threshold amount, determining that amount of the power is above a threshold amount is below the threshold amount, and selecting the reflective display unit when the power is below the threshold amount.
Abstract: Streaming machine learning unidirectional models is facilitated by the use of embedding vectors. Processing blocks in the models apply embedding vectors as input. The embedding vectors utilize context of future data (e.g., data that is temporally offset into the future within a data stream) to improve the accuracy of the outputs generated by the processing blocks. The embedding vectors cause a temporal shift between the outputs of the processing blocks and the inputs to which the outputs correspond. This temporal shift enables the processing blocks to apply the embedding vector inputs from processing blocks that are associated with future data.
