Abstract: An apparatus for directional acoustic sensing may include a wearable dimensioned to be donned by a user of an artificial reality system. The wearable may include a signal generator that propagates an acoustic wave via a body of the user toward a specific body part. The wearable may also include an acoustic sensor that detects an acoustic reflection of the acoustic wave propagated by the signal generator. The wearable may further include at least one processing device that is communicatively coupled to the acoustic sensor. The processing device may determine that the specific body part has made physical contact with an object based at least in part on the acoustic reflection. In response, the processing device may generate an input command for the artificial reality system that accounts for the specific body part making physical contact with the object. Various other apparatuses, systems, and methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: An exemplary computing environment having a DNN module can maintain one or more bandwidth throttling mechanisms. Illustratively, a first throttling mechanism can specify the number of cycles to wait between transactions on a cooperating fabric component (e.g., data bus). Illustratively, a second throttling mechanism can be a transaction count limiter that operatively sets a threshold of a number of transactions to be processed during a given transaction sequence and limits the number of transactions such as multiple transactions in flight to not exceed the set threshold. In an illustrative operation, in executing these two exemplary calculated throttling parameters, the average bandwidth usage and the peak bandwidth usage can be limited. Operatively, with this fabric bandwidth control, the processing units of the DNN are optimized to process data across each transaction cycle resulting in enhanced processing and lower power consumption.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for rewinding media content based on detected audio events are provided. In some embodiments, a method for providing media guidance is provided, the method comprising: causing media content to be presented; receiving, using an audio input device, audio data that includes ambient sounds in an environment in which the media content is being presented; receiving a user command to rewind the media content; detecting that a portion of the audio data corresponds to an audio event that occurred during the presentation of the media content in response to receiving the user command to rewind the media content; determining a playback position in the media content based on the audio event; and causing the media content to be presented from the determined playback position.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and systems suitable for chemical production by dehydrogenation of ethane utilizing carbon dioxide as a soft oxidant. Ethane and carbon dioxide are reacted in a catalytic reactor to produce a reaction product stream comprising at least ethylene and carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide can be separated for recycling back into the catalytic reactor, and the ethylene can be upgraded using a variety of process units. Heat from the reaction product stream can be recycle for further uses, including reducing the amount of added heating needed in the catalytic reactor. Additional materials, such carbon monoxide, hydrogen, syngas, methanol, methane, ethane, and even heavier hydrocarbons can be provided.

Abstract: An item and an associated method utilizing an elongated core defining an outer surface having a series of axially-disposed regions about which windable materials can be wound involves anchoring locations at which the terminal ends of windable materials are anchorable. The series of regions are arranged along the core of the item in a sequential fashion with a first region being disposed adjacent a first end of the core, and the anchoring location of each subsequent region in the series of regions subsequent to the first region is circumferentially spaced about the outer surface of the core from the anchoring location of the region which immediately precedes the subsequent region by a predetermined distance and in a circumferential direction therealong which is opposite the direction in which the item is rotated during a material unwinding process.
Abstract: A mobile terminal camps in a first cell associated with a first reference signal with a first physical structure that relates to a first Time Division Duplex (TDD) allocation of sub-frames for uplink and downlink transmission. The first reference signal is carried by the downlink sub-frames. The mobile terminal detects a broadcast indication of a second physical structure for carrying a second reference signal that relates to a second allocation of sub-frames for uplink and downlink transmissions that differs from the first allocation. The downlink sub-frames according to the second allocation carry the second reference signal. The mobile terminal measures the second reference signal of a neighbor cell as carried by the second physical structure.

Abstract: A system for providing quality of service (QoS) levels to clients requesting certificates from a certificate management service is provided. The system includes an application programming interface (API) operable to receive certificate requests from each of a plurality of clients, each certificate request including a client identifier, a QoS manager operable to distribute the certificate requests to a corresponding client queue of a plurality of client queues based on the client identifier, select, based on at least one of a workflow and a client priority level, one or more of the certificate requests distributed to the plurality of client queues, and transmit the selected one or more certificate requests to a QoS queue of the certificate management service for processing.
Abstract: In a method for accurately estimating gait characteristics of a user, first parameters indicative of user movement, including a GNSS-derived speed and step count, are monitored. Values of the first parameters are processed to determine values of second parameters indicative of movement of the user. The processing includes using values of at least one monitored parameter to generate one or more inputs to an estimator (e.g., Kalman filter) having the second parameters as estimator states. At least two of the second parameters are collectively indicative of a mapping between step frequency and step length of the user. A graphical user interface may display values of at least one of the second parameters, and/or at least one parameter derived from one or more of the second parameters.

Abstract: A method for coding a frame of a video stream includes selecting a first initial probability distribution for coding at least a first portion of the frame; updating, to obtain an updated first initial probability distribution and using backward adaptivity, the first initial probability distribution while coding the first portion of the frame; mapping the updated first initial probability distribution to a second initial probability distribution; and coding a second portion of the frame using the second initial probability distribution as an initial probability distribution. The first values of the first initial probability distribution are described using M bits, wherein M is a first positive integer. Second values of the updated first initial probability distribution are described using N bits, where N is a second positive integer that is greater than M. Third values of the second initial probability distribution are described using M bits.
