  • Patent number: 11175730
Abstract: A virtual space configuration system of an artificial reality system can detect a user posture and provide various corresponding customizations of the system's virtual space. The virtual space configuration system can, when a user is in a seated posture, provide for seated virtual space customizations. In various implementations, these customizations can include allowing adjustment of a floor height; setting a flag that can be surfaced to applications to adjust the applications' mechanics for seated users; customizing display of virtual space boundaries when in seated mode to be less intrusive; providing options to detect when a user leaves seated mode and trigger corresponding actions; provide a passthrough workspace area allowing a user to interact with certain real-world objects naturally without having to remove a virtual reality headset; or automatically determining virtual space dimensions for seated users.

  • Patent number: 11178430
Abstract: Methods are provided for sharpening or otherwise modifying compressed images without decompressing and re-encoding the images. An overall image quality is determined based on the source of the compressed image, the quantization table of the compressed image, or some other factor(s), and a set of scaling factors corresponding to the image quality is selected. The selected scaling factors are then applied to corresponding quantization factors of the image's quantization table or other parameters of the compressed image that describe the image contents of the compressed image. The scaling factors of a given set of scaling factors can be determined by a machine learning process that involves training the scaling factors based on training images determined by decompressing and then sharpening or otherwise modifying a source set of compressed images. These methods can provide improvements with respect to encoded image size and computational cost of the image modification method.

  • Patent number: 11172687
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing a keel from a poultry carcass that is conveyed at a predetermined speed along a path. Planar members extend radially outwardly from a continuous loop driven adjacent the path at the predetermined speed. A keel-receiving gap is configured between a pair of planar members. At least one blade is disposed between the path and the continuous loop for severing the keel from the carcass. A ramp above the path has a downwardly-facing surface angled to the path for contacting the poultry carcass and adjusting its vertical position relative to the blade. A keel guide spaced from the plurality of planar members may contact the keel to adjust the keel relative to the blade.

  • Patent number: 11174050
Abstract: A packaging apparatus includes a conveyor that moves one or more supports towards a packaging station, while a plastic film to be applied to said one or more supports is simultaneously transported to the packaging station itself. A longitudinally cutting unit longitudinally cuts the plastic film in order to form two or more film strips, and a compensating device exerts a tensioning action on one or more portions of said film strips. A packaging method includes longitudinally cutting the plastic film into strips and compensating to suitably tautly hold the film strips during their movement.

  • Patent number: 11176931
Abstract: A computer-implemented technique is described for enabling a user to create a conversational bookmark in the course of the user's interaction with a BOT. The bookmark designates a particular juncture in the user's interaction with the BOT. When the user later invokes the bookmark, the computer-implemented technique resumes the user's interaction with the BOT, starting at the particular juncture. The technique can accomplish the above functions in a BOT-independent manner (which does not involve changes to the BOT) or a BOT-dependent manner (which involves changes to the BOT). The technique can also be extended to a task of creating and activating bookmarks in the course of a conversation among two or more humans.

  • Patent number: 11177277
Abstract: A non-volatile memory apparatus is provided and includes a substrate having a major surface extending longitudinally. A stack of first and second sets of word lines and insulating layers extends along and over the major surface longitudinally and alternating with and overlying one another vertically to define a device region. The first and second sets of word lines each respectively extends longitudinally beyond a first and second side of the device region a decreasing longitudinal distance from the device region as a vertical distance from the major surface increases to define first and second stepped contact regions. Word line contacts extend vertically in the first and second stepped contact regions. The second set of word lines in the first stepped contact region do not contact the word line contacts and the first set of word lines in the second stepped contact region do not contact the word line contacts.

  • Patent number: 11175409
Abstract: In a method for accurately estimating gait characteristics of a user, first parameters indicative of user movement, including a GNSS-derived speed and step count, are monitored. Values of the first parameters are processed to determine values of second parameters indicative of movement of the user. The processing includes using values of at least one monitored parameter to generate one or more inputs to an estimator (e.g., Kalman filter) having the second parameters as estimator states. At least two of the second parameters are collectively indicative of a mapping between step frequency and step length of the user. A graphical user interface may display values of at least one of the second parameters, and/or at least one parameter derived from one or more of the second parameters.
