Abstract: Detecting the start of a credit roll within video program may allow for the automatic extension of video recordings among other functions. The start of the credit roll may be detected by determining the number of text blocks within a sequence of frames and identifying a point in the sequence of frames where a difference between the number of text blocks in frames occurring before the point and the number of text blocks in frames occurring after the point is greatest and exceeds a specified threshold. Text blocks may be identified within each frame by partitioning the frame into one or more segments and recording the segments having a pixel of a sufficiently high contrast. Contiguous segments may be merged or combined into single blocks, which may then be filtered to remove noise and false positives. Additional content may be inserted into the credit roll frames.
Abstract: A system and method provides for one or more of tracking of an object and providing automatic access to applications or data. Depending upon the embodiment, the system includes a personal digital key (PDK), a reader, a computing device and one or more of an auto login server and a tracking server. The PDK stores one or more profiles in memory. A reader is configured to wirelessly communicate with the PDK. The computing device is coupled to the reader and one or more of the auto login server and tracking server. The auto login server is configured to communicate with the reader and launches one or more applications associated with a user name identified by a profile received from the PDK. The tracking server is configured to communicate with the reader and to track and log information received from the PDK associated with the object.
Abstract: An apparatus for providing a preload to mated pipes including a ring-shaped body formed by a sidewall and an attachment structure on a portion of the body. The ring-shaped body includes an aperture that extends through the sidewall. The attachment structure corresponds to an attachment portion of a pipe in the mated pipes and the attachment structure enables removable fastening of the body to the pipe. The apparatus may further include an adjustable preload mechanism that can be removably attached to the body to hold the body in a preloaded position. The preload mechanism can be adjusted to release a portion of the preload held by the body.

Abstract: Shoe covers that include a waterproof sock shaped unitary tubular member. The shoe covers are configured to cover footwear having a sole with a bottom. The member includes a first waterproof tubular portion that has an upper opening configured to receive an ankle and a heel of a foot of a person when the footwear and shoe cover are donned. The member further includes a second waterproof tubular portion that has a bottom surface and is configured to correspond to and seal against the bottom of the sole of the footwear when the member is donned on the footwear. The bottom surface of the second waterproof tubular portion defines an opening. When the footwear is cycling footwear that includes a cleat projecting from the bottom, the opening may be configured to receive the cleat of the cycling footwear. Methods of donning and manufacturing the shoe covers also are disclosed.

Abstract: An implant for fusing a joint between first and second bone portions. The implant includes a screw member, and a washer polyaxially rotatable relative to the screw member. The screw member includes a head, a lag zone, and a threaded engagement zone. The implant includes a fusion zone for joint compression, extending from the washer to the proximal end of the engagement zone. Fenestrations may be present in the fusion zone. The length of the fusion zone ranges from about 10 mm to about 37 mm. Different surface finishes including roughened and non-roughened may be applied selectively to selected portions of the implant. In an embodiment, the joint is a sacro-iliac joint, and upon implantation the implant extends from the exterior of the ilium, across the joint and into the sacral vertebral body. Instrumentation and methods for preparing the joint and implanting the implant are disclosed.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are directed to controlling lifting gas in a volume defined by an inflatable structure of an aircraft. For example, controlling lifting gas in the volume of the inflatable structure may account for variations in ambient and tactical conditions experienced by the aircraft over the course of flight, as may be useful for lifting the aircraft to a target altitude and/or carrying out a particular mission. Additionally, or alternatively, controlling lifting gas in the volume of the inflatable structure may facilitate lifting the aircraft using lifting gas generated by reacting stable materials with one another at a launch site in the field. As an example, aluminum may react with water to form a lifting gas including hydrogen and steam. As the steam condenses to water in the inflatable structure, a valve may expel water from the inflatable structure to assist in maintaining buoyancy of the aircraft.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for certifying an equipment by connecting to a distributed ledger; capturing a physical location and a schematic location of the equipment; performing a test on the equipment; taking a picture of the equipment being tested; and certifying a test result and rendering the test results as immutable records on the distributed ledger.
Abstract: Disclosed are spectroscopy systems and methods. A spectroscopy system can include a reference cell and a multi-pass sample cell. The reference arm can include an etalon and a reference cavity containing a reference gas. A system can include a fractional sublimation cold trap. Detectors of the reference and sample arms can detect both intensity and absorption spectra of impinging beams. A frequency calibration based on a reference absorption spectra can be used to analyze a sample absorption spectrum. The analysis can provide information regarding an absorption band shift of the sample absorption spectrum, said shift being related to the isotope concentration of the sample.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for data-driven scheduling of automated software program test suites. An exemplary method comprises: obtaining a plurality of test cases that test software programs; obtaining a failure likelihood for each of the plurality of test cases; and scheduling the test cases in an order based on the failure likelihoods. Generally, test cases that are more likely to fail are scheduled before test cases that are less likely to fail. Dependencies and/or priorities among the plurality of test cases are also optionally obtained and the scheduling of the test cases is based on the dependencies and/or priorities. The dependencies among the plurality of test cases comprise, for example, an indication of whether a given test case constrains one or more additional test cases.
