Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to powering a constant voltage DC load using a rectified output of a lighting ballast. In an illustrative example, the ballast may be configured to operate as a constant-current source. The DC load may, for example, comprise an array of LED strings connected in parallel. The number of LED strings may, for example, be selected to match a power output of the ballast. The number of LEDs in each string may, for example, be selected to match a rectified voltage output range of the ballast. A normally-open thermostat may, for example, be connected in parallel between the ballast and a rectifier and be configured to short-circuit the ballast if the circuit overheats. Various embodiments may advantageously utilize existing power processing functions of an electronic ballast to reduce complexity of a driver circuit for a constant voltage DC source.
Abstract: This disclosure relates to apparatuses and a method for retaining a bias in a NAND string channel during source-side precharge. The apparatuses include a memory array and a die controller configured to mitigate formation of a potential gradient in the channel of the memory array NAND strings during a program storage operation. To this end, a plurality of source-side select gates is activated, then each of the plurality of source side dummy word line select gates is activated. Next, a NAND string channel is biased by biasing the source line coupled to the NAND string by the plurality of source-side select gates. Finally, the plurality of source-side select gates and the plurality of source side dummy word line select gates are discharged such that the channel maintains an electrical path to the source line.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes tunable methods of treating cellulosic materials with a composition that provides increased hydrophobicity and/or lipophobicity to such materials without sacrificing the biodegradability thereof. The methods as disclosed provide for binding of saccharide fatty acid esters on cellulosic materials, including that the disclosure provides products made by such methods. The materials thus treated display higher hydrophobicity, lipophobicity, barrier function, and mechanical properties, and may be used in any application where such features are desired.

A third wing may include a third leading edge and a third trailing edge, and a fourth wing may include a fourth leading edge and a fourth trailing edge. The third and fourth trailing edges may be each positioned proximate to the axis of rotation and positioned on opposite sides of the axis of rotation.
Abstract: Real-time dynamic optimization of a process model in an online model-based process control computing environment. A mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) solver utilizes grouping of first-principle model units to implement constraints of the underlying process. A group identifier parameter and a group complement parameter enable the grouping behavior through association with the first-principles model units.
Abstract: Abandoned articles left by a user departing from an autonomous vehicle are automatically detected by capturing image data including a plurality of diversely-illuminated images of a target area within a passenger cabin of the vehicle. A plurality of normal vectors are determined for respective pixels representing the target area in a normal extractor based on the images. A normal-driven map is stored in a first array in response to the plurality of normal vectors. A baseline map is stored in a second array compiled from baseline images of the target area in a nominal clean state. Differences between the normal-driven map and the baseline map indicative of an object not present in the clean state are detected in a comparator. Difficult to detect objects can be found using a single, fixed camera.
Abstract: A method and system for operating a vehicle that includes an electric machine and an internal combustion engine is described. In one example, the method includes arbitrating between providing torque compensation to a driveline via an internal combustion engine or via an electric machine to improve transmission gear shifting. The method may consider a plurality of vehicle operating conditions to aid the arbitration.
