Abstract: A plurality of collection surfaces for use in an aqueous slurry has a polymeric coating to provide a compliant and sticky surface. The polymer coating has a chemical to render the surface hydrophobic so as to attract hydrophobic or hydrophobized mineral particles in the slurry. The substrate can take the form of a conveyor belt, a bead, a mesh, an impeller, a filter or a flat surface. The substrate can also be an open-cell foam. The collection surfaces having the mineral particles attached thereon are caused to interact with liquid and supercritical carbon dioxide so that the mineral particles can be stripped from the collection surfaces.
Abstract: Systems and methods for operating a vehicle that includes an engine that may be automatically stopped and started are described. In one example, an amount of time to start an engine and a rate of engine acceleration are adjusted in response to what type of event triggered an automatic engine start.

Abstract: A handle for an implant deployment device converts rotational movement into longitudinal movement in order to provide controlled release of one or more trigger wires. The handle also allows the trigger wire to be withdrawn into the device so that it does not need to be separately removed. A preferred handle includes a rotatable portion and a slidable portion. Releasable locks ensure that the handle is used to carry out implant deployment steps in a specific order.
Abstract: A vertical member, which is preferably a support post used in a molten metal pump, includes a ceramic tube and tensioning structures to add a compressive load to the tube along its longitudinal axis. This makes the tube less prone to breakage. A device, such as a pump, used in a molten metal bath includes one or more of such vertical members.
Abstract: In some embodiments, aerial images of a geographic area are captured by an autonomous vehicle. In some embodiments, the locations of structures within a subset of the aerial images are manually annotated, and geographical locations of the manual annotations are determined based on pose information of the camera. In some embodiments, a machine learning model is trained using the manually annotated aerial images. The machine learning model is used to automatically generate annotations of other images of the geographic area, and the geographical locations determined from the manual annotations are used to determine an accuracy probability of the automatic annotations. The automatic annotations determined to be accurate may be used to re-train the machine learning model to increase its precision and recall.
