Abstract: A system for tracking workpiece movement during grinding of the workpiece includes a track, a motorized carriage movably mounted on the track, a detector, and a controller. A position of the carriage is determined by an encoder of the track. The detector is mounted on the carriage and includes a detection window and a sensor. The sensor detects a workpiece edge during grinding by detecting an image of the workpiece edge in the detection window. The controller determines a grinding position of the workpiece based on position data received from the carriage and edge data received from the detector. The controller controls the carriage to move in a forward direction or in a reverse direction to maintain the position of the image of the workpiece edge in the detection window.

Abstract: The disclosure herein describes transmitting data from a satellite using a primary ground station and a set of secondary ground stations. An orbit of the satellite is determined over a schedule period and a subset of secondary ground stations is identified based on the determined orbit of the satellite, wherein secondary ground stations are configured to receive from the satellite and not transmit to the satellite. A transmission schedule associated with the satellite is then generated. For each secondary ground station of the subset, a time interval during which the satellite is within communication range is determined, an expected transmission rate is estimated, and the time interval and the expected transmission rate are included in the transmission schedule. The transmission schedule is provided to the satellite via the primary ground station, whereby the satellite is configured to transmit data to the subset of ground stations based on the transmission schedule.

Abstract: During conversion and transfer of data from a physical machine to a virtual hard disk, a transmuter generates a catalog of contents of the physical machine. Catalog entries are compared to a set of alterations templates which alter matching data. The altered data is then stored in the virtual hard disk. Alterations templates may include filters that exclude unwanted or duplicated catalog entries, mapping filters that transfer source catalog entries to target locations on the virtual hard disk, and add-on filters that add additional data or location references to catalog entries. The disclosed process allows modifications to be made in a systematic way during data transfer.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for installing a software product using timestamp validation and system identification validation are disclosed. An example method to lock a software product in a software wrapper includes determining a unique hard drive serial number of a user device to which the software product is to be installed and generating a hash number of the unique hard drive serial number. The example method also includes determining a campaign identifier of the software product from a secure variable within the software product and generating a date-time code based on a current date and time. The method further includes assembling the date-time code and the campaign identifier into an unlock code, encrypting the unlock code using the hash number as a passphrase key to create an encrypted unlock code, and applying the encrypted unlock code to an end of a filename of an installer using a command line parameter.

The method includes estimating an effect on the objective caused by the existence or non-existence of a direct connection between a pair of nodes and changing a structure of the nodal network based at least in part on the estimate of the effect. A nodal network includes a strict partially ordered set, a weighted directed acyclic graph, an artificial neural network, and/or a layered feed-forward neural network.

Abstract: Described is a system for cloud-based scheduling of data operations to an object storage. The system may include a server that acts as an intermediary between a client device and an object storage that stores client data. Requests by the client device to manage data on the object storage may be routed through the server. In response, the server may execute corresponding data operations directly on the object storage. The server may manage bandwidth limits for operation requests to an object storage by maintaining a specialized operation pool. The operation pool may be configured to manage operation-specific queues, and these operation-specific queues may include sub-operations (or threads) that are executed on the object storage. Sub-operations of various types of operations may be initiated for concurrent execution on the object storage based on scheduling information derived from the operation pool.

Abstract: Polymer conjugates are provided that are capable of mimicking functions of natural proteoglycans found in the extracellular matrix of connective tissues. The polymer conjugates of the invention have utility in treating a subject suffering soft tissue conditions. Also provided are simple and scalable chemical processes for the preparation of the polymer conjugates of the invention.

Abstract: A method and controller are provided for delaying activation of autonomous emergency braking of a host vehicle, based on a determination that autonomous emergency braking is not needed because a forward vehicle in front of the host vehicle is turning out of the path of the host vehicle. The controller receives inputs from sensors arranged on the host vehicle and includes a processor for determining whether and when to activate autonomous emergency braking. The processor includes control logic that determines whether a forward vehicle is present in front of the host vehicle and whether the forward vehicle is expected to turn out of a path of the host vehicle prior to the host vehicle reaching a current position of the forward vehicle. Based on the inputs from the sensors, the control logic determines whether to delay activation of the autonomous emergency braking of the host vehicle for a time value.

The data processing system can match the image features to the image features of a plurality of image to identify candidate images. A second image can be selected from the candidate images based on a request that the data processing system received with the input image.

Abstract: An underground support system having an underground reinforcement system that is at least partially encapsulated with concrete or a cement material. The underground reinforcement system includes a flexible wire mesh having a matrix of longitudinally and transversely extending metal wires. The matrix of longitudinally and transversely extending metal wires has at least one three-dimensional sheet, each sheet having at least one raised corrugation, positioned along the length of an underground space. The raised corrugation acts as a template depth girder for application of concrete or cement material at a defined depth such that the underground reinforcement system is at least partially encapsulated with the concrete or cement material.

Abstract: A system and method to perform lane position sensing and tracking in a vehicle include using a first camera with a first field of view of a first side of the vehicle and a second camera with a second field of view on a second side of the vehicle to capture images. The method includes determining if a first lane line on a first side of the vehicle and a second lane line on the second side of the vehicle are both visible, and based on the first lane line and the second lane line being visible, determining, a position of the vehicle in a lane between the first lane line and the second lane line and determining a trajectory of the first lane line and the second lane line and of the vehicle.

Abstract: Techniques involve determining updated disk sets. The techniques further involve determining, from the updated disk sets, a target disk set for a storage unit associated with a plurality of storage disks. The techniques further involve determining position information of disk slices corresponding to the storage unit in the plurality of storage disks, in which the position information indicates respective updated disk sets in which the disk slices are located. The techniques further involve in accordance with a determination that an updated disk set indicated by position information of at least one of the disk slices is different from the target disk set, moving data in the at least one disk slice to the target disk set. Accordingly, an arrangement of a storage units across different disk sets can be avoided, and utilization rates of a plurality of storage disks can be made more uniform.
