  • Patent number: 11093404
Abstract: Managing a cache memory in a storage system includes maintaining a first queue that stores data indictive of the read requests for a particular logical storage unit of the storage system in an order that the read requests are received by the storage system and maintaining a second queue that stores data indictive of the read requests for the particular logical storage unit in a sort order corresponding to page numbers of the read requests, the second queue persisting for a plurality of iterations of read requests. A read request is received and data indicative of the read request is placed in the first queue and in the second queue while maintaining the sort order of the second queue. The second queue is used to determine a prefetch metric that varies according to a number of adjacent elements in the second queue.

  • Patent number: 11090777
Abstract: A system for tracking workpiece movement during grinding of the workpiece includes a track, a motorized carriage movably mounted on the track, a detector, and a controller. A position of the carriage is determined by an encoder of the track. The detector is mounted on the carriage and includes a detection window and a sensor. The sensor detects a workpiece edge during grinding by detecting an image of the workpiece edge in the detection window. The controller determines a grinding position of the workpiece based on position data received from the carriage and edge data received from the detector. The controller controls the carriage to move in a forward direction or in a reverse direction to maintain the position of the image of the workpiece edge in the detection window.

  • Patent number: 11095369
Abstract: Disclosed is a device communicably coupled to a power transmission line and capable of launching transverse electromagnetic waves onto the transmission line. The waves propagate data received from a data source connected to the device through a center conductor surrounded by a shield conductor. The device may include a reflector and a coupler adjacent to each other, the reflector electrically connected to the shield conductor and the coupler electrically connected to the center conductor at an unshielded connection point, wherein time-varying E-fields between the reflector and coupler are caused by the data received from the data source, and induce a transverse magnetic wave that propagates longitudinally along the surface of the transmission line.

  • Patent number: 11091595
Abstract: Presented are fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) sandwich structures, methods for making/using such FRP sandwich structures, and motor vehicles with a vehicle component fabricated from a compression molded thermoset or thermoplastic FRP sandwich structure. A multidimensional composite sandwich structure includes first and second (skin) layers formed from a thermoset of thermoplastic polymer matrix, such as resin or nylon, filled with a fiber reinforcing material, such as chopped carbon fibers. A third (core) layer, which is encased between the first and second skin layers, is formed from a thermoset/thermoplastic polymer matrix filled with a fiber reinforcing material and a filler material, such as hollow glass microspheres. The first, second and third layers have respective rheological flow properties that are substantially similar such that all three layers flow in unison at a predetermined compression molding pressure.

  • Patent number: 11096259
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for adaptive display brightness adjustment, the method comprising: obtaining current state data characterizing a current state of a device having a display with an adjustable brightness; providing the current state data as input to a brightness prediction machine learning model, wherein the model is configured to process the current state data in accordance with current values of a set of model parameters to generate as output a proposed display brightness for the display of the device; setting the brightness of the display to a brightness that is lower than the proposed display brightness in accordance with an exploration policy; determining whether a user of the device manually adjusts the display brightness; and in response to determining that the user did not manually adjust the display brightness, using the lower brightness as a target output for adjusting the current values of the set of model parameters.

  • Patent number: 11093861
Abstract: Techniques for controlling item frequency using machine learning are provides. In one technique, two prediction models are trained: one based on interaction history of multiple content items by multiple entities and the other based on predicted interaction rates and an impression count for each of multiple content items. In response to a request, a particular entity associated with the request is identified and multiple candidate content items are identified. For each identified candidate content item, the first prediction model is used to determine a predicted interaction rate, an impression count of the candidate content item is determined with respect to the particular entity, the second prediction model is used to generate an adjustment based on the impression count, and an adjusted entity interaction rate is generated based on the predicted interaction rate and the adjustment. A particular candidate content item is selected based on the generated adjusted entity interaction rates.

  • Patent number: 11093556
Abstract: Access control for RESTful operations may be provided to a centralized semantic graph store. In addition, operations may be provided over semantic triples distributed in a resource tree database. In an example, an system may use semantic descriptors distributed in hierarchical resource trees mechanisms for maintaining semantic descriptors relationship information. The mechanisms enable semantic queries to be performed within the context of specific graphs by using specific sets of sematic descriptors together. The mechanism which uses the formation of a group for semantic operation purposes also enables the use of the group resource in order to fan out semantic requests to members of the group, including members located on different service entities.

  • Patent number: 11090006
Abstract: A sensing guidewire device used to measure physiological parameters within a living body. In one embodiment, the device is used to measure the fractional flow reserve (FFR) across a stenotic lesion in a patient's vasculature. The device includes a sensor that is adapted to be affixed near the distal end of a guidewire. The guidewire contains a corewire, processed to enclose electrical conductors in a sealed, off-centered interstice or channel, with an outer diameter approximate to the outer diameter of the device, running substantially the full length of the device, and has a homogenous outer surface. The enclosed eccentric channel provides space for electrical conductors to move freely. The corewire can have a tapered segment to create desirable flexibility. A solid connector comprised of alternating conductive and insulating elements for connecting the conductors to an external device is disclosed.
