Publication number: 20210240621Abstract: A processing node of a storage system may determine that a host system is implementing a cache-slot aware, round-robin IO distribution algorithm (CA-RR). The processing node may be configured to determine when a sufficient number of sequential IOs will be received to consume a cache slot of the a processing node. If the processing node knows that the host system is implementing CA-RR, then, in response to determining the sufficient number, the processing node may send a communication informing the next processing node about the sequential cache slot hit. If the sequential IO operation(s) are read operation(s), the next processing node may prefetch at least a cache-slot worth of next consecutive data portions. If the sequential IO operation(s) are write operation(s), then the next processing node may request allocation of one or more local cache slots for the forthcoming sequential write operations.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2020Publication date: August 5, 2021Applicant: EMC IP Holding Company LLCInventors: Jack Fu, Jaeyoo Jung, Arieh Don

Publication number: 20210241385Abstract: An apparatus for tracking the time spent on different tasks on behalf of different entities comprises a plurality of tokens, each having an RFID coded with information uniquely associated with one of the tasks or one of the entities. A platform connected to a user's computer has an internal sensor that detects the RFID tag of a token placed on the top of the platform. Timing circuitry in the platform generates a start signal when the sensor detects a token's RFID tag and a stop signal when the token is removed from the platform. Decoding circuitry in the platform generates a data signal identifying the task or entity associated with the token. The user can then use his or her computer to associate the time spent on a task with a particular entity. Tokens include three-dimensional icons or text to identify the task or entity represented by each token, respectively.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2020Publication date: August 5, 2021Applicant: Wiedza Creations LLCInventors: Jenevieve R. Publication number: 20210243225Abstract: Embodiments provide system and methods for a DDoS service using a mix of mitigation systems (also called scrubbing centers) and non-mitigation systems. The non-mitigation systems are less expensive and thus can be placed at or near a customer's network resource (e.g., a computer, cluster of computers, or entire network). Under normal conditions, traffic for a customer's resource can go through a mitigation system or a non-mitigation system. When an attack is detected, traffic that would have otherwise gone through a non-mitigation system is re-routed to a mitigation system. Thus, the non-mitigation systems can be used to reduce latency and provide more efficient access to the customer's network resource during normal conditions. Since the non-mitigation servers are not equipped to respond to an attack, the non-mitigation systems are not used during an attack, thereby still providing protection to the customer network resource using the mitigation systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 26, 2021Publication date: August 5, 2021Applicant: Level 3 Communications, LLCInventors: Robert Smith, Shawn Marck, Christopher Newton

Publication number: 20210243463Abstract: In the case where image data of a super-high definition service is transmitted without scalable coding, image data suitable to own display capability in a receiver not supporting the super-high definition service can be easily obtained. A container in a predetermined format having a video stream including encoded image data is transmitted. Auxiliary information for downscaling a spatial and/or temporal resolution of the image data is inserted into the video stream. For example, the auxiliary information indicates a limit of accuracy for a motion vector included in the encoded image data. Further, for example, the auxiliary information identifies a picture to be selected at the time of downscaling the temporal resolution at a predetermined ratio.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2021Publication date: August 5, 2021Applicant: SATURN LICENSING LLCInventor: Ikuo TSUKAGOSHI

Publication number: 20210243363Abstract: Disclosed are techniques that provide a “best” picture taken within a few seconds of the moment when a capture command is received (e.g., when the “shutter” button is pressed). In some situations, several still images are automatically (that is, without the user's input) captured. These images are compared to find a “best” image that is presented to the photographer for consideration. Video is also captured automatically and analyzed to see if there is an action scene or other motion content around the time of the capture command. If the analysis reveals anything interesting, then the video clip is presented to the photographer. The video clip may be cropped to match the still-capture scene and to remove transitory parts. Higher-precision horizon detection may be provided based on motion analysis and on pixel-data analysis.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 19, 2021Publication date: August 5, 2021Applicant: Google Technology Holdings LLCInventors: Doina I.
