Abstract: A method for simulating a hierarchical circuit includes a bottom-up process and a top-down process in each of a series of iteration rounds. The bottom-up process starts from a bottom level of the hierarchical circuit and obtains submatrices and subvectors for each subcircuit instance (SCI) in the hierarchical circuit. For each SCI, after obtaining first and second submatrices and first and second subvectors of the each SCI, the second submatrix and the second subvector are passed up to the next level in the hierarchy and used to calculate the circuit equation for a parent SCI in the next level. In the top-down process, starting at a top circuit, signal values in each level of the hierarchical circuit are determined. Certain signal values of a parent SCI are passed down to each child SCI, and are used to determine the internal signal values of the child SCI together with the first submatrix and the first subvector of the child SCI.

Abstract: Different methods and apparatuses applicable to prepare materials for a user. One embodiment includes a device, with an imaging sensor. Based on analyzing a user attribute from the imaging sensor monitoring the user, the device can identify and access an area of the materials for the user. The area includes a section, and the device can layout the section by keeping a piece of text together with an illustration to be displayed in at least two screens of different sizes. Another embodiment includes materials with a text sub file with texts, an illustration sub file with illustrations, and a logic sub file with instructions to prepare materials for the user. Either the text or the illustration sub file can include position information linking at least an illustration to a corresponding piece of text. Annotations could be added to the materials.

Abstract: Embodiments provide a video camera that can be configured to compress video data in a manner that achieves a targeted output size in a computationally efficient manner. The video compression systems and methods can be used with DCT-based compression standards to include a rate control aspect. The rate controlled video compression methods can be configured to compress video data in real time and/or using a single pass. During compression of video data, the video compression systems and methods can modify compression parameters to achieve a targeted file size while maintaining relatively high visual quality of the compressed images.

Abstract: Optimizations are provided for a high dynamic range (HDR) sensor. This sensor is a spatially multiplexed image sensor that includes at least two sets of red, green, and blue (RGB) pixels. Each red pixel in the second set of RGB pixels is positioned proximately and sometimes, adjacently, to at least one red pixel in the first set of RGB pixels. Each green pixel in the second set of RGB pixels is positioned proximately to at least one green pixel in the first set of RGB pixels. Each blue pixel in the second set of RGB pixels is positioned proximately to at least one blue pixel in the first set of RGB pixel. This spatially multiplexed image sensor is able to generate a digital image with reduced motion blurring artifacts.

Abstract: An aerosol containment enclosure is used to isolate an air mass immediately surrounding a patient known or suspected to have a disease which may be transmitted through the air. The enclosure cooperates with a patient support apparatus. In embodiments, a flexible rod supports a substantially aerosol impermeable covering and is connected to the patient support apparatus. The enclosure is collapsible to a predetermined collapsed shape and expandable to a predetermined erect shape. In embodiments, a portal in the covering provides access for care personnel or equipment. The aerosol containment enclosure is lightweight, compact, and partially or fully disposable. The enclosure may be rapidly erected around a patient in an ambulance or other treatment setting.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, an edge cooling system with an IT container having an edge device partially submerged within a liquid coolant. The device generates heat that is transferred into liquid coolant thereby causing the liquid coolant to vaporize into vapor. The system includes a condenser that condenses vapor into liquid coolant, a vapor buffer configured to buffer and provide vapor to the condenser, a liquid accumulator configured to accumulate condensed liquid coolant and provide liquid coolant to the IT container, a main liquid supply line that couples the condenser and IT container to the liquid accumulator, and a main vapor return line that couples the condenser and IT container to the vapor buffer to create a heat exchanging loop. The system design includes the liquid accumulator and vapor buffer, and functions multiple cooling modes including a supplemental cooling. Each of the components are fully enclosed within an edge container.

Abstract: In various embodiments, a method includes (1) applying a first voltage and a first current to an electroactive device that includes a nanovoided electroactive polymer, (2) measuring a second voltage and a second current associated with the electroactive device, (3) determining at least one of a position or a force output associated with the electroactive device, the position or the force based on the second voltage and the second current, and (4) applying a third voltage and a third current to the electroactive device based on the at least one of the position or the force output. Abstract: An overhead storage system is disclosed. The storage system includes an overhead frame that supports a ceiling for a room, at least one storage box, and a roof or floor for a second room above the first. Attached to the frame is at least one raise/lower mechanism which raises and lowers a storage box. The storage box(es) fit within the frame when raised and are accessible when lowered. Each storage box has a bottom wall that includes a ceiling surface for the room and a structure with at least one storage surface. The raise lower mechanism(s) is a winch driven pulley system that winds up and lets out at least one line.

Abstract: Machine-learning data generators use an additional objective to avoid generating data that is too similar to any previously known data example. This prevents plagiarism or simple copying of existing data examples, enhancing the ability of a generator to usefully generate novel data. A formulation of generative adversarial network (GAN) learning as the mixed strategy minimax solution of a zero-sum game solves the convergence and stability problem of GANs learning, without suffering mode collapse.

Abstract: A modular multi-system gaming console can be configurable for use in conjunction with expansion consoles (also referred to as expansion modules, expansion units, and/or element modules herein) as a gaming console emulator and/or for use as an audio/video converter (e.g., an up-converter), data recorder, or streaming device. Further, the modular multi-system gaming console can evoke the original gaming experience of a game played on original hardware. A modular multi-system gaming console can provide a consistent platform for display, content management, statistical storage and analysis (e.g., high scores, fastest speed runs, etc.), and live streaming and other services (including core services described herein) across a multitude of gaming console platforms. Abstract: During preparation for migration of a logical volume from a source data storage appliance to a destination data storage appliance, a determination is made as to whether at least one host that accesses a copy of the logical volume contained in the source data storage appliance is managed by a host administration server. In response to determining that at least one host that accesses the copy of the logical volume contained in the source data storage appliance is managed by the administration server, a rescan request is transmitted to the administration server. The rescan request causes the host administration server to instruct each host that is managed by the host administration server that accesses the copy of the logical volume contained in the source data storage appliance to perform a rescan operation to discover at least one new path to the logical volume.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for operating an engine that includes a knock control system that may determine contributions of individual noise sources to an engine background noise level. The contributions of the individual noise sources may be determined via adjusting timing of a knock window or timing of the individual noise sources.
