Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed to determine the number of people at a location. An example apparatus includes a configuration changer to change a configuration setting of the base station to cause mobile devices to register with the base station, a registration manager to respond to registration requests received from the mobile devices after the configuration setting is changed by storing device identification information for the corresponding mobile devices, and a counter controller to identify a number of the mobile devices at a location of the base station based on the stored device identification information.
Abstract: A member profile including a vector containing a field for each of a plurality of skills and a rating of one or more of the skills in the vector for a member of a social networking service is obtained. A first distance indicating a vector distance between the vector of the member profile and a vector of a hypothetical member profile representing the perfect job candidate is obtained. A hypothetical member profile for the member is created by combining the vector of the member profile with the indication of how each of the one or more skills is improved through taking the course from course information. A second distance between the member and the hypothetical perfect candidate for the job is obtained, and the difference between the first distance and the second distance is calculated to determine an estimate of how much the course will increase the member's job chances.

Abstract: This invention relates to the preparation of N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine (“glyphosate”) from N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid (“PMIDA”), and more particularly to methods for control of the conversion of PMIDA, for the identification of reaction end points relating to PMIDA conversion and the preparation of glyphosate products having controlled PMIDA content. One such method involves obtaining a series of Fourier transform infrared (“FTIR”) analyses of the PMIDA content of the aqueous reaction medium or a sample thereof during the course of the reaction. From a plurality of FTIR analyses, a projection is made of the batch reaction time or continuous oxidation residence time within the oxidation reaction zone at which a target conversion or end point may be anticipated to be attained or is attained.

Abstract: The disclosure provides, methods for preparing scavenging particles, as well as methods for attaching capture agents to the particles. The disclosure further provides compositions that bind to and inhibit the biological activity of soluble biomolecules, as well as pharmaceutical compositions thereof. The compositions may comprise a plurality of particles that specifically bind a target, such as a soluble biomolecule or a biomolecule on the surface of a pathogen, to inhibit the target (or pathogen) from interacting with other molecules or cells. Also provided herein are a number of applications (e.g., therapeutic applications) in which the compositions are useful.
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for securely provisioning a roadside unit (RSU) that includes an application certificate, wherein the RSU is geographically restricted according to the application certificate. An enhanced SCMS system may receive a request for an application certificate for the RSU; determine, in response to the request, an operating geolocation for the RSU; verify that the operating geolocation is within the allowed geo-region for the RSU; generate an application certificate that includes the operating geolocation; and provide the application certificate to the RSU device.

Abstract: Systems and techniques that facilitate real-time and/or offline de-identification of facial regions from regular and/or occluded color video streams obtained during diagnostic medical procedures are provided. A detection component can generate a bounding box substantially around a person in a frame of a video stream, can generate a heatmap showing key points or anatomical masks of the person based on the bounding box, and can localize a face or facial region of the person based on the key points or anatomical masks. An anonymization component can anonymize pixels in the frame that correspond to the face or facial region. A tracking component can track the face or facial region in a subsequent frame based on a structural similarity index between the frame and the subsequent frame being above a threshold.
Abstract: Systems and methods for adaptive beamforming for a mobile satellite system (MSS). Embodiments described herein provide individual-user-optimized, adaptive beamforming. One example system creates a user beam optimized based either on known user locations or the waveforms received from all cochannel users. The user beam maximizes the signal-to-interference-noise relative to the desired user, both in the forward and return links. The optimization process considers the spatial distribution of all cochannel users in the footprint of the satellite. The user beam adapts to the user's location and co-channel interference environment.
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing purchase recommendations. According to some examples, a method may include: determining respective frequency distributions of a plurality of vehicle attributes, the frequency distributions being determined based on occurrences of values of the plurality of vehicle attributes in a set of vehicles; selecting a vehicle attribute from the plurality of vehicle attributes based on the frequency distributions of the plurality of vehicle attributes; transmitting, to a user device, an inquiry for user preference regarding the selected vehicle attribute; receiving, from the user device, a response indicating the user preference; and presenting, to the user device, a recommendation of one or more vehicles determined based on the received response.
Abstract: A setting tool for setting frac plugs and the like can include a mandrel having a chamber for housing expandable gas and a gas port in fluid communication with the chamber; a firing head secured to the mandrel for igniting a power charge to generate pressurized gas within the chamber; a barrel piston housing the mandrel and connected to a sleeve for setting the frac plug; and an expansion region defined between the mandrel and the barrel piston and receiving the pressurized gas which exerts force to cause a stroke of the barrel piston over the mandrel as the expansion region expands axially. The setting tool can include various features, such as certain gas bleed systems, an enhanced shear screw assembly, a bleed port and plug assembly, a scribe line, a particular gas port configuration, a liquid escape conduit, no-shoulder barrel configuration, and/or a low-force design for frac plugs.
