Abstract: A method of treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a wellbore comprises: introducing into the subterranean formation a treatment fluid comprising a carbonate producing agent, urea, and a cation source; allowing a carbonate precipitate to form, the carbonate precipitate comprising a cation from the cation source and having a water solubility of less than about 0.1 g/100 mL at 25° C. and atmospheric pressure; and reducing or substantially preventing the passage of formation particles from the subterranean formation into the wellbore while allowing passage of formation fluids from the subterranean formation into the wellbore.

Abstract: A knitting needle or knitting needle assembly may include a braided metal cable having opposite ends, with first and second cylindrical members coupled to the opposite ends, respectively. Each of the cylindrical members may have a respective longitudinal axis extending along a cylindrical body thereof. At least one of the first and second cylindrical members may be coupled to its respective end of the cable such that the cylindrical member swivels about its longitudinal axis with respect to the cable to permit relative rotation between the respective cylindrical member and the cable. Additionally, the cylindrical member may define a first radially extending surface that prevents axial translation of the cable with respect to the cylindrical member while permitting relative rotation of the cylindrical member about the cable.

Abstract: A laser welding method and system for joining portions of first and second workpieces of thermoplastic material that is partially permeable to a laser beam but absorbs radiation from the laser beam. The first and second workpieces, which are made of material that absorbs radiation from a laser beam, are clamped together. A mask is placed on a first surface of the first workpiece, the first surface being opposite the surface engaging the second workpiece. The mask is impermeable to a laser beam and forms a slot for passing a laser beam to the portion of the first surface of the upper workpiece exposed by the slot, so that heating and melting of the material of the workpieces is limited to the width of the slot. A laser beam is directed onto the slot and moved in a manner to illuminate the slot to melt and join the workpieces.

Abstract: Technologies for assigning a user-generated issue report to an appropriate team for investigation are disclosed. A log file associated with an issue report is parsed to create an object model. The object model is a hierarchy of objects containing data emitted over time by a computer application associated with the issue report. Rules analyze the content of the object model, and when a rule is satisfied, the issue report is assigned to a team associated with the rule for investigation. Rules may access objects in the object model on a per-component level, thereby allowing issues to be assigned to teams at the level of individual components. Rules may also perform a root cause analysis of the issue based on the object model.

Abstract: The present invention relates to novel gene sequences encoding insecticidal proteins produced by Bacillus thuringiensis strains. Particularly, new chimeric genes encoding a CryIC, CryIB or CryID protein are provided which are useful to protect plants from insect damage. Also included herein are plant cells or plants comprising such genes and methods of making or using them, as well as plant cells or plants comprising one of such chimeric gene and at least one other such chimeric genes.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling a firearm. Components embedded in a portion of the firearm enable the firearm to determine if a user of the firearm is authorized to do so, and either enable or disable a firing mechanism of the firearm accordingly. The firearm may also send communication signals regarding the status of the firearm or events detected by the firearm to a remote device controlled by an authorized user. The system may thereby notify the authorized user of attempted unauthorized use of the firearm, that the firearm has been left behind by the authorized user, or that the firearm is being tampered with. The system may also include multi-tag or a voice-override features that prevent the firearm from being used against the authorized user should the authorized user lose control of the firearm.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes accessing a number of pictures of an object, constructing a modeling volume for three-dimensional modeling of the object by processing the number of pictures using a machine-learning framework, where the modeling volume is associated with a number of color and opacity information that are associated with a number of regions in the modeling volume, and rendering an image of the object from a view-point using the modeling volume, where each pixel of the image is rendered by projecting a virtual ray from the view-point and through the modeling volume, determining one or more of the number of regions in the modeling volume intersected by the virtual ray, and determining a color and an opacity of the pixel based on an accumulation of the color and opacity information associated with the one or more of the number of regions intersected by the virtual ray.

The processor is also configured to connect to the wireless access point and report connection information relating to the connected wireless access point to an entity capable of establishing direct cellular connection with a vehicle, identifying the connected wireless access point as an alternative communication method if cellular communication is unavailable.

Abstract: A system includes a control device and a plurality of lighting fixtures configured to receive power through the control device. Each lighting fixture includes a receiver and a memory, and is configured to: scan for a first message transmitted by the control device, the first message containing a unique identifier of the control device; receive the first message and store the unique identifier of the control device in the memory; sense a power interrupt to the lighting fixture initiated by the control device within a specified period of time after receipt of the first message from the control device; and transmit a second message including the unique identifier of the control device, the second message indicating that the lighting fixture is in a provisioning mode.

Abstract: Computerized systems are provided for automatically determining and providing enriched action items of an event, such as a meeting. Action items first may be determined and then enhanced or clarified in order to be more understandable by automatically modifying or supplementing the action item based on contextual information, such as related meeting discussion. Action items may be further enhanced through clarification by determining boundaries of their occurrence(s) so that extraneous content not related to the action items or not helpful for user understanding is deemphasized or excluded from presentation to the user. Some embodiments comprise an intelligent graphical user interface with functionality for receiving user feedback. The feedback can be employed to reconfigure the logic, such as machine learning models, utilized to determine the enriched action items to improve accuracy.
