Abstract: An automated door system includes a door pivotally coupled to a vehicle body at a hinge axis defined by at least one hinge assembly. A power assist device is coupled to the hinge assembly and further coupled to the door. The power assist device is configured to slow movement of the door along a door swing path from an initial velocity to a slow close velocity when the initial velocity exceeds a predetermined threshold velocity, thereby providing a slow and controlled close when a user attempts to slam the door. The power assist device is further configured to power opening and closing movement of the door as initiated by a user.

Abstract: A first citizens broadband radio service device (CBSD), which is part of a first cluster of CBSDs, determines total needed spectrum for the first cluster, based on a determination of its own spectrum needs and received information from other CBSDs in the cluster communicating their determined spectrum needs. The first CBSD communications the total spectrum needs for the first cluster to a spectrum access system (SAS). The first CSBD receives a spectrum allocation for the first cluster from the SAS, which allocates spectrum on a per cluster basis. The first CSBD selects a first portion of spectrum for itself from the received allocation and communicates the SAS first cluster spectrum allocation and the first CSBD selected first portion of spectrum to a second CBSD in the cluster. The second CBSD determines the remaining spectrum of the SAS allocation and selects a second portion of spectrum from remaining spectrum for itself.
Abstract: Remote direct memory access (RDMA) enables access to a memory resource on a computing device without involving the device's CPU (central processing unit). Data packets traversing a NIC (network interface controller/card) on a server in a network are efficiently captured by adapting an ASIC (application-specific circuit) in a programmable TOR (top of rack) switch to modify headers of incoming data packets to indicate to the NIC that the packets are RDMA packets. Such modification enables the packets to be written directly to the server memory while bypassing the server's CPU which can typically act as a bottleneck when attempting full packet capture.
Abstract: A food storage and dispensing device includes a food holder configured to contain a sliceable item of food on the support surface and between the side walls. The food holder has a dispensing opening located at the first end. The device further includes a lid moveably mounted over the food holder so as to have an open position and a closed position and an end cap, having an upper edge coupled to the lid at a location proximate to the first end. The end cap is oriented to cover the dispensing opening when the lid is in the closed position and has a lower edge opposite the upper edge, the lower edge configured to slice the sliceable item of food when the lid is moved from the open position to the closed position.
Abstract: A heat exchanger is provided. The heat exchanger (40) provides a first plurality of tubes (50) and a second plurality of flow passages (52) which furcate near one of the first (42) and second (44) manifolds into two or more furcated flow passages and subsequently converge to exit the heat exchanger. The plurality of furcated flow passages are intertwined, reducing the distance between flow passages (50,52) containing each fluid therebetween to improve thermal transfer. Further, the furcations create changes of direction of the fluid to re-establish new thermal boundary layers within the flow passages to further reduce resistance to thermal transfer.

Abstract: A locomotive system is provided that includes a platform, plural wheel-axle sets operably coupled to the platform, a reservoir attached to the platform and configured to hold a fluid, and a resonant sensor probe assembly coupled to the reservoir. The sensor probe assembly includes a substrate formed from one or more dielectric materials and free-standing electrodes coupled with the substrate. The free-standing electrodes are configured to be placed into the fluid, to generate an electric field between the free-standing electrodes, and to measure an impedance response of the sensor to the fluid between the electrodes.

Abstract: A method is provided for mounting a plurality of radar units to a vehicle. The method involves determining, for each radar unit, a measured pitch direction and a measured yaw direction based on data obtained using a photogrammetry system. The method also involves determining yaw angles between at least two of the radar units based on at least one of the measured yaw directions. The method also involves determining, for each radar unit, a pitch offset and a yaw offset. The method also involves adjusting at least one of the radar units based on at least one of the determined pitch offsets and at least one of the determined yaw offsets. Also provided is a device for performing the method.
Abstract: An optical device with reduced see-through diffraction artifacts for Augmented Reality (AR) applications is provided. The device includes a projector configured to generate an image light and a waveguide optically coupled with the projector and configured to guide the image light to an eye-box. The waveguide includes an in-coupling element configured to couple the image light into the waveguide, and an out-coupling element configured to decouple the image light out of the waveguide. The waveguide includes at least one switchable grating configured to: during a virtual-world subframe of a display frame, decouple the image light out of the waveguide via diffraction, and during a real-world subframe of the display frame, transmit a light from a real-world environment to the eye-box with a diffraction efficiency less than a predetermined threshold.
Abstract: The description relates to devices, such as computing devices having displays that can be rotated through a range of travel. The device can counter-balance the display to create a near weightless feel for the user when repositioning the display.

Abstract: A method of forming a high energy density capacitor comprises depositing a first metal layer on a substrate, depositing a first layer of polarizable dielectric material comprised of a high K dielectric material on said first metal layer, and applying a momentary high voltage electric field of positive or negative polarity above said first layer of polarizable dielectric material forming an electret. The method further comprises depositing a second metal layer on said first layer of polarizable dielectric material, depositing a second layer of polarizable dielectric material comprised of a high K dielectric material onto said second metal layer, and applying a second momentary high voltage electric field of opposing polarity above said second layer of polarizable dielectric material to align dipoles of the second layer into one or more electrets that will oppose a main electric field created as the capacitor is charging.
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system generates a plurality of trajectory candidates for an autonomous driving vehicle (ADV) from a starting point to an end point of a particular driving scenario. The system generates a reference trajectory corresponding to the driving scenario based on a current state of the ADV associated with the starting point and an end state of the ADV associated with the end point, where the reference trajectory is associated with an objective. For each of the trajectory candidates, the system compares the trajectory candidate with the reference trajectory to generate an objective cost representing a similarity between the trajectory candidate and the reference trajectory. The system selects one of the trajectory candidates as a target trajectory for driving the ADV based on objective costs of the trajectory candidates.
