Patent number: 10999626Abstract: An audience measurement service may monitor broadcasts in a region, ingesting closed captioning data, metadata, displayed text or logos, performing facial recognition on people, and/or generating audio/video fingerprints of broadcast content to create a database of content and associated keywords, along with times at which the content was broadcast. The audience measurement service may receive user search queries from a search provider and detect “spiking” queries. The audience measurement service may determine whether the spiking queries are related, contextually and temporally, to an item of content identified in the database, and infer that users generating the queries likely viewed the item of content. In some implementations, the audience measurement service may also infer that the users likely viewed other items of content (e.g. advertisements) displayed during the prior or subsequent few minutes on the same broadcast channel as the query-triggering item.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2020Date of Patent: May 4, 2021Assignee: Google LLCInventors: Ant Oztaskent, Yaroslav Volovich, Ingrid McAulay Trollope, Margaret Hollendoner

Patent number: 10999856Abstract: An approach for selecting sets of communications channels involves determining the performance of communications channels. A set of channels is selected based on the results of performance testing and specified criteria. The participant generates data that identifies the selected set of channels and provides that data to other participants of the communications network. The participants communicate over the set of channels, such as by using a frequency hopping protocol. When a specified time expires or monitoring of the performance of the channel set identifies poor performance of the set of channels, the participant selects another set of channels for use in communications based on additional performance testing. By selecting channels based on the initial performance testing and performance monitoring, the communications network adaptively avoids channels with poor performance.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2020Date of Patent: May 4, 2021Assignee: Bandspeed LLCInventors: Hongbing Gan, Bijan Treister, Efstratios Skafidas

Patent number: 10997010Abstract: Technologies are generally described to provide a passive monitoring system employing a logging schema to track usage data in order to analyze performance and reliability of a service. The logging schema may be configured to track user requests as each request is received and processed at individual subsystems of the collaborative service. A logging entry may be created at a data store of the service, where the logging entry includes a subsystem name, an operation performed by the subsystem to fulfill the request and start and end times of the operation. The logging schema may also detect errors fulfilling the requests, and may classify detected errors into a bucket, where each bucket denotes a failure scenario. Reliability of the service may be calculated based on analysis of the buckets to compute error rates. Reports may be generated to enable continuous monitoring of a performance and reliability of the system.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2019Date of Patent: May 4, 2021Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Aravind Ranganathan, Sanghmitra Gite

Patent number: 10997803Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for conducting a fuel tank diagnostic. In one example, a method comprises sealing a fuel tank of a vehicle, retrieving data related to fuel tank pressure from a crowd of vehicles, and indicating the fuel tank of the vehicle being diagnosed is degraded responsive to data related to fuel tank pressure from the crowd insufficiently correlating with a set of data related to fuel tank pressure from the vehicle. In this way, fuel tank degradation may be indicated without coupling the fuel tank of the vehicle to atmosphere, which may reduce a release of undesired evaporative emissions to atmosphere.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2017Date of Patent: May 4, 2021Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Aed M. Patent number: 10997229Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for determining similarities in content preferences among a plurality of users and generating content recommendations based on a requesting user's content consumption history. A requesting user may access the recommendation system to request content items for consumption. The recommendation system may be configured to identify users having consumed the same or similar content items as the requesting user, and to determine a ratio of content items consumed by the requesting user and an identified user to the total number of content items previously consumed by the requesting user. In one embodiment, the system may determine a degree of similarity in content preferences between the two users based on an inverse proportion of a level of popularity associated with the content items consumed by the requesting user and the identified user (e.g., sampled user).Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2019Date of Patent: May 4, 2021Assignee: Comcast Cable Communications, LLCInventor: Zhen Zhao

Patent number: 10995346Abstract: A system and process is disclosed for adding pre-fermentation separated non-fermentables, e.g., fiber, germ/oil, and/or protein, to a post-fermentation stream in a corn (or similar carbohydrate-containing grain) dry milling process for making alcohol and/or other biofuels/biochemical. The process includes mixing grain particles with a liquid to produce a slurry having starch and non-fermentables. The slurry is subjected to liquefaction to convert the starch in the slurry to complex sugars and produce a liquefied stream including the complex sugars and non-fermentables. After liquefaction but prior to fermentation of simple sugars resulting from conversion of the complex sugars, the non-fermentables are separated out to define a non-fermentables portion and an aqueous solution including the complex and/or simple sugars. The simple sugars are fermented to provide a fermented stream. Then, the separated non-fermentables portion is reincorporated back into the process into a post-fermentation stream.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2017Date of Patent: May 4, 2021Assignee: Fluid Quip Technologies, LLCInventors: Michael Franko, John Kwik, Neal Jakel
