Patent number: 10027542Abstract: A node of a communication network determines a hash-based sketch. The sketch may for example correspond to a Count-Min (CM) sketch. The sketch summarizes a number of occurrence of an event for a group of UEs. Further, the node receives information representing the number of occurrence of the event for said group of UEs from one or more further nodes of the communication network, e.g., in a further hash-based sketch. The node updates the sketch with the information received from the further and provides the updated sketch to the further nodes.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2014Date of Patent: July 17, 2018Assignee: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Rickard Coster, Vincent Huang

Patent number: 10023977Abstract: Materials, including metals such as bulk metals, specialty alloys, metallic films and coatings, are made up of many tiny single crystals, which may also be referred to as grains. The boundaries between crystals are called grain boundaries and govern properties such as mechanical strength, deformation, and electrical resistivity. These properties are affected by not only the number of grain boundaries formed, but also the density and orientation of those grain boundaries. Twin boundaries are a special type of grain boundary which have symmetrical “mirror image” structures and preserve favorable qualities of grain boundaries while suppressing unfavorable properties such as the initiation of cracks, inclusions, and other unwanted flaws. Some metals and alloys form twins more easily than others during processing.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2013Date of Patent: July 17, 2018Assignee: THE TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY SYSTEMInventors: Xinghang Zhang, Daniel Bufford, Haiyan Wang, Yue Liu

Patent number: 10028153Abstract: Systems and methods relating to non-adaptive beam scanning in a wireless network are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a transmit node to perform non-adaptive beam scanning for transmit beam patterns of the transmit node that partition a service coverage area of the transmit node into transmit partition cells is provided. The method transmitting a known signal using each of multiple scanning beam patterns for each of multiple beam scanning stages over non-overlapping radio resource slots. The scanning beam patterns for the beam scanning stages are such that each unique combination of scanning beam patterns consisting of one scanning beam pattern from each of the beam scanning stages corresponds to a different transmit beam pattern of the transmit node. This multi-stage beam scanning approach provides an exponentially more efficient process for beam scanning than the conventional Sequential Beam Sweeping (SBS) approach.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2014Date of Patent: July 17, 2018Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Dennis Hui, Johan Axnäs, Robert Baldemair

Patent number: 10028261Abstract: Embodiments herein include a method in a user equipment (UE) for transmitting uplink control information in time slots of a subframe over a radio channel to a radio base station. The uplink control information is comprised in a block of bits. The UE maps the block of bits to a sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The UE block spreads the sequence across Discrete Fourier Transform Spread-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (DFTS-OFDM) symbols. This is performed by applying a spreading sequence to the sequence of complex valued modulation symbols, to achieve a block spread sequence of complex valued modulation symbols. The UE further transforms the block-spread sequence, per DFTS-OFDM symbol. This is performed by applying a matrix that depends on a DFTS-OFDM symbol index and/or slot index to the block-spread sequence. The UE also transmits the block spread sequence, as transformed, over the radio channel to the radio base station.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2015Date of Patent: July 17, 2018Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Robert Baldemair, David Astely, Dirk Gerstenberger, Daniel Larsson, Stefan Parkvall

Patent number: 10020857Abstract: A transmitting radio node (10) precodes a transmission from an antenna array (12) to a receiving radio node (50). The array (12) includes co-polarized antenna elements (14) aligned in a given spatial dimension of the array (12). The transmitting radio node (10) precodes the transmission from different subarrays (34a, 34b) of the antenna elements (14) using respective coarse-granularity precoders that are factorizable from a multi-granular precoder targeting the given spatial dimension of the array (12) at different granularities, so as to virtualize the subarrays (34a, 34b) as different auxiliary elements (38a, 38b). The transmitting radio node (10) also precode the transmission from the different auxiliary elements (38a, 38b) using one or more finer-granularity precoders that are also factorizable from the multi-granular precoder. In this case, the coarse granularity precoders and the one or more finer-granularity precoders are represented within one or more codebooks (26) used for said precoding.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2015Date of Patent: July 10, 2018Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Niklas Wernersson, Svante Bergman, Sebastian Faxér

Patent number: 10021690Abstract: Systems, methods, and nodes that implement multipath TCP (MPTCP) in a communication system establish first and second data link layer connections to a remote node, notify a transport layer of the establishment of the first and second data link layer connections, and establish first and second transport layer connections with the remote node over the first and second data link layer connections. A packet received at the data link layer for transmission to the remote node is inspected to determine if MPTCP is enabled for the packet, and, in response to determining that MPTCP is enabled for the packet, the packet is assigned to one of the first data link layer connection and the second data link layer connection based on an affinity between an MPTCP sub-flow associated with the packet and the one of the first data link layer connection and the second data link layer connection.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2015Date of Patent: July 10, 2018Assignee: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Christopher Richards, Michael William Petras
